starting issue

so my car you have to turn the key multiple times to start... some times it takes more time to start... before it starts the car wont even crank over.. when i was replacing the cranks sensor for my no spark it would crank every time while we were trying to diagnos the no spark and and we fixed that it started doing the starting issue again...and ideas?

So it doesn't turn over? Does the solenoid on the starter click when you try and crank it?

Re: starting issue

Does it sputter? Might be a fuel pressure regulator.

EDIT* Oops. read too fast. Disregard my post.

Re: starting issue

If it clicks and won't turn over its most likely the starter. I would probably just replace the starter

Re: starting issue

Ya that's common with starters when they're on their way out. You turn the key, click. Turn the key, click. Turn the key click. Turn the key and it starts. Eventually it just won't start at all.

Re: starting issue

^ yes very common. I've had 4 starters in my 1g over the past 9 months. They all did that same thing intermittently. You could test voltage drop at the starter solenoid when the issue is happening. You should go buy a new starter that has a warranty. I already need a new one, everyday I have to turn the key like 20 times before it will crank, not every time though.

Re: starting issue

Also, check your signal wire at your ecu and the starter, check continuity, your starter grounds. I would do so before buying a new starter and having the same problem. Cough cough 4 starters and has the same problem… :)
