Evo 9 Piston rings
Hey guys im having a tough time figuring out what rings to run on my evo 9 pistons. The only part number on them is a e9k1, and a 50 which from my knowledge mean .02 over. They also measure .02 over from my stock pistons. I was told that hasting rings carried a set for .02 over evo 9 piston but cannot find it. The guy I got the set up from went through dsmgraveyard and there website has been down for the last couple days.
I got this response from Hasting rings " set # 2c4558 is designed for a 4g63 and 4g63t vin code D, F. That is a 85mm bore with 1.2, 1.2, 2.0 piston groove widths. So if that is the engine code yes they will fit." I went to total seal's website and cataloged an evo 8. The groove size for them matched what I measured on my evo 9 piston. But it looks like the total seal ring set cr4713 20 is going to take a while to get ahold of. I don't know if anyone has any experience with evo pistons on 1g rods but need help finding rings for it. thanks for any help |
Re: Evo 9 Piston rings
Rods shouldn't matter, just get .020 over rings for a 4g63 right?
IMHO just get a set of Ross .020 over rings for 4g63 and that's it. Then file them to the gap you desire. |

so you wouldn't see a problem with running these? I was just worried because the thickness of the rings change from my knowledge. The oil ring on my evo piston is 2.0 mm. |
Re: Evo 9 Piston rings
I've only ever used OEM rings with OEM pistons.

Re: Evo 9 Piston rings
Crap, yea didn't think avout being oem. I was thinking aftermarket for an evo.
