Well the engine might have to come out.. Didn't see the previous owner snapped a bolt in the carrier bearing on the block. Not happy. 😡 going to see if I can drill it out but it's a tight angle.

Back out, gotta drill it

Bolt came out, drilled and used an e-z out.
Got the engine back in. Just waiting on my manifold, then make an exhaust still. |

Manifold came! Got a couple days to throw it together and get some break-in miles on it

Hoping to start it today!

Re: Mark's Talon
Got it started! Soo loud with only the downpipe on. Running a little rich (it's now on speed density) soo I'll have to lean it out a little. Only one oil leak from the feed line.
Gotta get some insurance on it again and go break it in! |

woot!!
Congrats |

Had a little mishap happen.. Got on it and from the log the battery voltage dropped and caused it to go lean (11v on 30psi went to 13.5+afr).. #2 rod ended up snapping in half and breaking at the wrist pin, putting 2 holes into the block. Oil that shot out caught on fire and melted some of the wiring harness.. Thankfully had my fire extinguisher!

Terrible

Re: Mark's Talon
Sorry to hear, that's terrible.

Re: Mark's Talon
Good news.
Picked up a new block and some Ross pistons. Started to pick apart the harness and see what all needs to be replaced, so far looks like the brake resivoir, knock sensor, speed sensor, injector resistor box, starter signal wire, blue black and brown plugs for timing ground and fuel pump test, and the ground on the intake manifold Crank looks good and the head looks good. Going to find some I-beam or x-beam rods, get the block assembled again and bring it in for a tune! |

Little update.. Got the harness all done, just need to route it and put some wire loom on.
Got my new rods, went with the I-beams that Howard's Rods provides for MAP. Went with these as there is a pretty significant weight decrease over the turbo tuff I-beams I was debating between. Can't wait to get back to boosting. Once the block is done and in the car I am hoping to put it on the dyno and have Shane work his magic. Really wanting to finish in time for proving grounds. |
Re: Mark's Talon
Update: Haven't had much motivation the last couple weeks to get anything done. Car is most likely going to sit for the winter as of now.
Plans are.. Finish the block.. Still not sure on pistons. Swap 1050's for 2150's or around there Get rid of the single 255 and put in 2 Walbro 450's in a full blown dual pump in-tank setup. Build a catch can and new coolant resivoir. Repaint the firewall (fix fire damage) New front suspension (control arms, knuckles, ex..) |
