Steel weld fitting for oil pan. SS or mild?

Looking to order a weld fitting for my oil pan, but I'm not sure if I should do SS or mild.

I'm thinking SS for longevity, but I don't know if this will cause issues trying to weld it to the pan, so I figured that I would ask.

Thanks

The pan is steel... why wouldn't you get a steel fitting?

Can do either. What fitting? Oil return?

yes it would be for an oil return.

I know steel would work, but I wasn't sure if SS or mild would make a different in the welding process or if one would be better than the other.

I'm trying to make it all -12AN sized return.
I'm in the process in finding out if they make a T3/T4 oil drain flange to 3/4" NPT, they only seem to make it in T6 or holset.

Technically yes, would change how you would weld it, but in reality, doesn't matter that much in this application. Either will stick. SS fitting threads will play nicer over time.

it's getting tig welded regardless it will be a matter of filler rod really.

Might have one laying around. I always use early a weld on fittings. But that is what I got at NWA for all my fittings and lines.

I'm having a custom T3/T4 oil drain flange made that has a 3/4" NPT fitting on it.
