Hot damn!
Do you have an ETA? I know you said you are waiting for the block and what not.

Thank you! Can't wait to make it to more events this year.. Definitely have a lot to do and learn.

Spent all last night wiping down the bay with wax and grease remover. Spraying the bay tonight with primer, find all the flaws and fix them, then will come the color and clear. First time ever painting with a gun. Should be fun.

Good luck!

I'm honestly very happy with how it turned out. I think I figured out a good spray pattern/ gun control. Granted this is just primer and color and clear will be trickier. Might try and add a little reducer to see if it lays down a little smoother. Only one f-up when my sweatshirt dipped into it on the front clip area.

Got my block back! Just need a few timing components and it can be assembled! Then mostly just waiting for the manifold and wastegates which should be here within a week or two.

And the bay is also now black! Things should go together quickly now..

Got both subframes and all the rear suspension back in. Put in the windshield wiper assembly and the brake booster/ clutch master and brake likes.. Starting to look like a car again. Routed the harness (just have to get a way to mount the harness to the body)

Going to start putting the engine together tonight.

Still got high hopes to make it to PG's

Thank you!

Engine and Trans are going in tomorrow. Been sick so hoping I got some energy.
Still waiting on my exhaust manifold from JMF, it should be here within a week or so.. Can't wait to see how it looks!

Looks great, fresh paint is awesome. Interested to see how the turbo works out! Get it out for prooving grounds.

Thanks Mark! I'm actually pretty surprised on how well the paint layed down and how it turned out as it was my first time ever with a paint gun. The plan as of now is to make it up to PG on at least low boost. . I'm beyond excited to see how this turbo compares to the 20g!

Well the engine/ Trans are in.. The wiring harness is in and for the most part connected.
Gotta weld the IAT bung into my upper IC pipe.
Once I get the manifold I'll have to find a radiator that fits.
Just a few more gaskets to go

Got the intake and the rest of the harness hooked up. Also got my fuel stuff on.
Still just waiting on my manifold from JMF. Ordered a scirocco radiator to fit in the core support and some Aerocatch hood latches to keep the hood down since the stock latch will need to be removed.

Valve cover and front mount make a huge difference.

Hell yea you will. Hooked up the battery today and turned the key to the "ON" position and everything had function!

Re: Mark's Talon

Well the engine might have to come out.. Didn't see the previous owner snapped a bolt in the carrier bearing on the block. Not happy. 😡 going to see if I can drill it out but it's a tight angle.

Back out, gotta drill it

Re: Mark's Talon

Bolt came out, drilled and used an e-z out.
Got the engine back in. Just waiting on my manifold, then make an exhaust still.

Manifold came! Got a couple days to throw it together and get some break-in miles on it

Hoping to start it today!

Re: Mark's Talon

Got it started! Soo loud with only the downpipe on. Running a little rich (it's now on speed density) soo I'll have to lean it out a little. Only one oil leak from the feed line.
Gotta get some insurance on it again and go break it in!

Re: Mark's Talon

Had a little mishap happen.. Got on it and from the log the battery voltage dropped and caused it to go lean (11v on 30psi went to 13.5+afr).. #2 rod ended up snapping in half and breaking at the wrist pin, putting 2 holes into the block. Oil that shot out caught on fire and melted some of the wiring harness.. Thankfully had my fire extinguisher!

Re: Mark's Talon

Good news.
Picked up a new block and some Ross pistons.
Started to pick apart the harness and see what all needs to be replaced, so far looks like the brake resivoir, knock sensor, speed sensor, injector resistor box, starter signal wire, blue black and brown plugs for timing ground and fuel pump test, and the ground on the intake manifold
Crank looks good and the head looks good.
Going to find some I-beam or x-beam rods, get the block assembled again and bring it in for a tune!

Re: Mark's Talon

Little update.. Got the harness all done, just need to route it and put some wire loom on.
Got my new rods, went with the I-beams that Howard's Rods provides for MAP. Went with these as there is a pretty significant weight decrease over the turbo tuff I-beams I was debating between.
Can't wait to get back to boosting. Once the block is done and in the car I am hoping to put it on the dyno and have Shane work his magic. Really wanting to finish in time for proving grounds.

mark4g63t 09-13-2016 01:11 PM

Re: Mark's Talon

Update: Haven't had much motivation the last couple weeks to get anything done. Car is most likely going to sit for the winter as of now.
Plans are..
Finish the block.. Still not sure on pistons.
Swap 1050's for 2150's or around there
Get rid of the single 255 and put in 2 Walbro 450's in a full blown dual pump in-tank setup.
Build a catch can and new coolant resivoir.
Repaint the firewall (fix fire damage)
New front suspension (control arms, knuckles, ex..)
