While I had the engine out to replace the oil pump and oil pan, I decided to do some inspections and found this. :angryfire:

Looks great, did you have a vacuum pump before? Let us know the #'s!

Re: UBER SS

It was a good day. Should be a great street/strip engine. :sasmokin:

I'm sure in the bigger scope of things, this engine and it's power numbers are nothing very special compared to current standards. But I'm very happy so far.

582cid Dart BigM 4.600 x 4.375
Dart Pro1 345 heads w/CNC chambers @ 114cc
Chris Straub hyd roller degreed in straight up per the cam specs
Wilson Manifolds Merlin X 4150 intake w/CNC plenum cleanup
Pro Systems 4150 Nitrous IV carb 980cfm
GZ Motorsports VP104 vacuum pump pulling 11-12 inches through the pulls
93 octane pump gas (Chevron)
No nitrous
Belt driven water pump and alternator (installed, but not charging) during dyno pulls

First pull of the day was at 28 deg timing and carb jetted at 84/92 as received from Pro Systems.
735.4hp @ 6200rpm and 733.2tq @ 4700rpm.

By pull #7 we found what the engine liked. 36 deg timing and 88/96 jets.
807.3hp @ 6400rpm and 758.2tq @ 4400rpm (dyno pull was started at 4400rpm).

From 34 to 36 deg the gain was good, but not as strong as 28 to 30, 30 to 32, and 32 to 34 deg. So we felt that pushing the timing to 38 deg wasn't worth the risk of detonation.

Tried adding more fuel with 90/98 jets, but the engine didn't like it on the next two pulls.

Went back to 88/96 jets and backed up pull #7 with pull #10 which was the last run with the 4150 carb.
809.7hp @ 6600rpm and 758.6tq @ 4300rpm

We did try running the dyno owned 1050 Dominator and it didn't move the numbers much, if any. Airflow stayed basically the same as the 4150. Maybe with more time and some more tuning, the Dominator might have been worth some power, but it didn't look to be much.

The vacuum reading you see in the chart .5-1.8 is intake vacuum under the carb, so there may be some power to be had with a bigger carb.

For some reason the Super-Flow 901 was not wanting to pull the engine down below 4200rpm at the start of the pulls. I wonder what the peak torque numbers would have looked like at 4000rpm, or even lower?

Pull #10 sheets.

I can't compute that, it's insane.

Re: UBER SS

Great numbers, congrats! That's gonna be fun to drive.

I gotta play with big cubic inches(plus turbo) some day.

Great numbers, 800hp NA with 93 octane is impressive!

Awesome power!
Make sure you get a hit down low where the torque peak is on a proper dyno that can handle the torque load to ensure nothing bad is happening down there.

Re: UBER SS

Thanks guys and thanks for the tip on the video not working.

With 1.8in of vacuum under the carb there's about another 60hp left to get out of it. Not sure if I'm going to chase it down at this time, would require a bigger carb and possibly another intake manifold to go with it. Not ready to spend that money at this time.

I had Chris Straub (cam builder) look at the dyno numbers. He said based on the numbers that peak torque probably landed in the 3600-3800rpm range and would have been close to 770 ft-lb. He also said that it's safe to say that I would be in the range of 670 ft-lb in the 2600rpm range.

Fun times to be had for sure.

I agree, Nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuts!!!
The HP is impressive, but the TRQ is ridiculous!!

There will be video. I might just leave that 200lb cowl hood on it until after the next time to the track. :sasmokin:
