Any 6x9's in the back will sound like shit, period. A sub is the only way to go, all the higher end cars come with them from the factory.

I wouldnt go that far, but rear is basically just filler sound. Wanting strictly bass out of 6x9s is far fetched though, good midrange is about all.

Well I'm going to sell all my stereo stuff and start from scratch.

Update: my brake line union decided to start leaking an insane amount so the car is in the air.
Checker updated their rear seal for the T-case and I just installed it so hopefully that is the end of that shit.
The drivers side seal in the trans leak, hopefully I can get one tonight/tomorrow to get it back together.

That's about it, I'm tired of stupid issues but I was told this would happen so yeah.

Oh and the seals on the turbo are shot as well so I'll be stepping to a 16g sooner than later.

So you think you can get it ready for the weekend, sounds like you have a few things that need to be done for sure.

Compression fitting?

For the weekend maybe, but I'm planning on pulling an all dayer tomorrow, checker should ahve my seal about 11:30 by which time I hope to have at least the brake line done and maybe the new turbo installed.

Basically tomorow night should be go time, if my injectors arrive maybe even tuning will happen.

Thanks for the good wishes, but sadly it didn't help.

I just spent almost 4 hrs doing that stupid brake line shit alone and it still leaks, infact it leaks worse.
I am 100% done for the year and maybe with this car, unless someone fixes it.
I don't get how it still leaks, I took my time making the flares and shit trying to bend the line sucks ass and I don't want to attempt it again with a stupid motor in the way.

We're definitely running out of year. Sucks to leave things unfinished, which is why I've been grumpy.

Time for

As soon as I get my pile running, I'll help you with the brake line. I"m holding you to running next weekend.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

I stepped away for a while and haven't lost my determination, i remember that checker makes set length lines that are already flared with fittings, so I'm going to buy that and just bend it to shape, which means I'll have to drop the engine cradle/subframe to snake the line in there easier.

I don't know when I'll try it, I also picked up my seal, so maybe I work on getting other things together in the mean time.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

Checker no longer exists. ;)

That said, I'm going to ask again, are you using a compression fitting? If so, that's your problem right there, and your issue is precisely the reason they aren't legal on street cars anyway. Call it a lesson learned and replace the entire line.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

no, I believe he is talking bending and double flaring the lines.

turbotalon1g 10-16-2010 09:18 AM

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

I am talking about double flaring and bending, i know its not called checker but oreillys doesn't roll off the tongue or type well.

Brake lines do not use compression fittings.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

Well I got the brake lines sorted out, replaced the drivers side tranny seal and replaced a rear drivers side wheel stud.

Now i'm waiting for a oil cooler from some asshat that owns SIM racing in MI, he is telling me that he doesn't have a tracking number from fed ex even though u get one when the label is created, i'm expecting the fittings to be missing also, so yeah.

Anyway car is ready to be driven again, If i get done doing stuff around the house I might just go and find some plugs for the housing so i can drive the car.

Good luck with plugs, they are M16x1.5 if I remember right and very tough to find. I happen to know where there's a pair you can borrow. :)

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.

Guy finally got me a tracking number, so as long as he didn't lie to me, I should be able to fill a couple quarts of trans fluid and motor oil and be on my way.

MAP supplied me with new injector seals, they had them on the shelf (AWESOME!) so I will be able to throw in my 950s as long as the test drive goes well.
