I don't believe that will work. That's a MLS.

An o-ring needs a maleable surface to press into. Which is a copper gasket.

You may ruin the o-ring if you use an MLS and torque it down onto that o-ring.

You are correct it is a mls gasket yes. It accually does not ruin the o rings itself
Alot of people run mls head gaskets with o rings and is accually recommended by some of the best subaru shops in the US

Re: 2011 Sti Build ?

And any wire will cocentrate the clamp load making a better seal. Many people use a copper oring with an mls gasket so something deforms. The phusions are near because they have a gas filled wire already in them. The gas in the wire makes them compressible. If the head lifts the oring will be able to grow a bit and maintain seal.

Little update now since the car has been running. Put up on the dyno and we maxed out my single walbro 450 intank pump. Car put out just shy of 600 whp at 485 tq. The car is no were near its full potential at this power level but just cant push it more with my fuel setup. This winter i plan on adding a surge tank along with dss axles all around with a triple disk clutch. Then we should be able to make some real power.

Can confirm car spools very well, with insane transient response. Lol awesome sounds too.

Re: 2011 Sti Build ?

Damn good power! Nicely done, what are you going to push it to with a new pump?

dsmDolney 07-19-2017 03:30 PM

Re: 2011 Sti Build ?

Dont have to worry about ringlands with a built motor lol but yes still intact. These 6 speeds in the stis are bulletproof. With the new fuel setup id like to just max out the 6062. Car is really fun on the street and hit full boost by 4500 rpm. Cant beat that.

Havnt updated for awhile so heres a little news. Car has been running amazing with no problems and i cant say how happy i am to be able to say that lol. Made it to pg2 a couple weeks ago and got to see what it could do in the 1/4 or atleast what i can do with it. Fastest time i got was a 11.3 at 128 with not to hard of launching. Looking forward to making more passes by the end of the season with a goal to get a 10sec pass.

Well Rock Falls did not go as planned they didnt start running cars till about 3ish in the afternoon because of a wet track. They got one lane open and thats what we ran all day got 2 runs in with the first one being 11.5 @137mph then the second run 11.0 @135mph. 60' were terrible and not my best thats for sure, trap speed is there just need some work on getting my launches down.

Wow 137 is moving good. And half second quicker at 135, lots of time left on the table. Very fast car for sure! Good luck next season, or this season if you’re lucky on weather I guess. Congrats!
