Re: The Gun Thread

I am looking at getting a handgun in the next couple of months. Right now I have my eye on a CZ75 in 9mm (preferably their SP-01 variant). The only thing is, I would like test one out, and I can't seem to find anybody who has this particular gun in stock. Any suggestions where to look? I've been to Bill's in Circle Pines. Does their Robbinsdale location have more selection?

Re: The Gun Thread

Well, I fired the CZ this weekend... didn't really like it all that much. Slide release requires you to use your off hand and it felt a little stiff on the whole. I also fired a Sig p226 in 9mm. I liked the mechanics of that gun a lot better, however the grip was a tad too fat for my hand. Additionally, I tried the Springfield XD-M in .40. I liked that one the best of the 3, but am not super crazy about DAO.

I think this coming weekend I am going to try the Beretta Px4 and Taurus 24/7 (both in 9mm)

Re: The Gun Thread

I own a Px4 in .40 and love it. Plus you get an actual safety unlike glock/xd/etc

I have a FN Browning HP 9mm that is forsale. It's got custom rosewood grips and is a very sweet semi-auto.

Re: The Gun Thread

I love my Sigs. P225 and 226. The 225 is going to be my carry gun, it has a much thinner grip than the 226 (single stack mag). They don't make it anymore, I think the 229 is the new version though.
I think eventually I want a gun in .357 Sig for my carry piece.

Re: The Gun Thread

Those .357 Sigs are very loud and have a big muzzle flash. I like 'em too:)

How much for the Browning HP? Pics?

Re: The Gun Thread

Over the last two weeks I test fired the Beretta 92, Px4, Springfield XD-M, Sigsauer P226, P229, 225, Taurus 24/7 and HK USP (in 9mm).

I really liked the Sigs but the 226 was just a tad fat but 225 doesn't carry enough ammo for my taste. The XD fired incredible, but I really want an exposed hammer (plus I'm not a super huge fan of striker fire). The USP came up the best for me and my initial groupings were the tightest with this gun. I am probably going to pick one up unless I can get thinner grips for the 226.

CVD, I have a good friend (the kind I would trust my life to) that use to carry the 225 and now swears by the 229 (in .357), so I think you are on the right track.

Just bought this a few weeks ago, thought id post up. I bought a Smith and Wesson Ar-15 that shoots 5.56 or .223. Just bought a red dot for it and man this thing is fun to shoot. Came with 2-30 round magazines.

Re: The Gun Thread

I'm starting to look into getting a regular old boring AR-15 one of these days. My buddy recently purchased a Mosin Nagant 91/30, and an AK-47. I'd love to find someone with a ton of land in the middle of nowhere and do some long distance target practice.

Re: The Gun Thread

yeah, i hope once i can get some more money together to get a better scope for long distance shooting. Luckily i have a buddy that lives in Montana in the middle of no where. It was a toss up between this and an AK-47 and about $500.00 difference. I ended up with this because it felt like better quality and would last longer. My buddies SKS is what really got me into wanting an assault rifle.

Re: The Gun Thread

I went to the gun show at the convention center yesterday and sold my FNH Hi-Power.

I was looking at picking up this

But ended up leaving with this.

I went with the Remington because there are more acessories and more bird barrels out there for it.

Sweet.

My buddy went to the show yesterday. I really wanted to go but I'm in Fargo for the weekend. :(

That looks awesome, i like the way the swing out stock works both ways.

I found a house close by with 10 acres that is my new dream home.

Just incase those ducks try and sneak down my hallway at night ;) You can duck hunt with 00buck right?

In all seriousness though, I have the original stock for hunting and will be picking up a 28" duck barrell and possibly a grouse/pheasant barrell.

Brandon - I am a member of a range down in Fairibault that goes out to 600 yards. Hell of a drive and muddy in the spring, but let me know if you want to get together some time and head out there. We usually have the place to ourselves except during hunting season.

Nice shotty Brian, I just bought a mossberg 500a for a house gun. It's in desert camo, but at $260 brand new I couldnt pass it up. Also recently got a Saiga 12 :) Now I just gotta get to the range to play with some of these new toys! I've got at least 4 new guns that I haven't played with yet.

Re: The Gun Thread

That'd be real fun. Longest I've ever shot from was 500 yards in the military with an M16A2. It's been awhile, but I'd really like to get back into it.

I'm realising how difficult it's becoming to find AR-15 upper receivers. They appear to be going like Hot Cakes.

I've decided I want a Lightweight Mid-Length. I don't know what brand I'll end up with yet since they are getting real hard to find. I'll probably just end up getting it from whichever company can get me one in a somewhat acceptable time limit, which isn't the way I want to chose, but oh well.

I will definately hit you up come spring though.

Re: The Gun Thread

AIM is a good company, not much of a selection but good prices/products. I havent done much research but I think the CMMG uppers are good:
http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/U...ssemblies.html

If you want something really worthless you can even get an upper in 5.7x28mm :)

*edit: Just read that AIM is out of stock. Oh well, you could call and see if they have any coming in soon.

I'll be needing a new upper for my AR (jackass gunsmith fucked up the chamber and now spent cases get stuck). What I'd rather do though is grab a Sig 556.

May as well throw up a post with my latest acquisition, a Smith & Wesson 99 Compact (.40 cal) with tritium night sights. Might make a good carry piece pending extensive range testing.

Might as well join in.

Here's what I got this last Christmas - SA 1911-A1 Loaded. I still want an AR15 too. I did pick-up a Rem 700 in .223 and a Ruger 10/22 along with the 1911. I would like to try and stretch out the Rem .223 one of these days too. I shoot my 1911 and Ruger in the backyard - 20 acres. :-)
