Broken turbo manifold stud

So I took the heat shield off that covers the turbo manifold, and I found a broken stud with the nut still intact. Judging by the length of the broken-off piece of the stud, I'm guessing I'd probably have to tap or take the head to a machine shop to get the rest out. So my question is, is it OK to drive the car around like that, boost and whatnot?

Which bolt is it exactly? A pic would probably help. I personally would not drive around with a mising bolt anywhere.

manifold studs to the head? if so it's not the end of the world. Just have it re- tapped. As for driving it, the only thing you may hurt is the gasket..

Yea, manifold to head. I'll try to get a pic up later. A good portion of the rest of the stud is still in the head, it looks like it broke off where the threads start in the head.

^have you tried using a reverse drill bit?

It'll be fine, it's a DSM :)

Yank the manifold drill it, and easy-out it.

You might as well replace all the studs when you have the mani off. Here is where I got my studs http://www.ssstuds.com/. Do what scheides said, you don't need to tear the engine apart to bring it in to a machine shop.

I had a local shop take my broken stud out and then helicoiled it. Worked great, never had problems. And I drove the car to them.

Thanks for the help and info guys, I just lost my job so money is tight, but I'll look at both the machine shop or easy out options when I have some cash flow again.
