Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Saw swanny's and forgot I haven't updated this in a while.
Found a video of a 9.0 pass but no video of the 8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjwJS1RwkB4&hd=1 I brought the bike back home the other week from being stored at Pauls for the winter. First time I got to test out my stupid expensive ramps on the bike and it didn't bottom out with me pushing it up, so I was pretty pumped about that! Hopefully it doesn't bottom out with my riding it up as well. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...psivdjvb6o.jpg Ordered a couple goodies over the winter and got around to installing my Catalyst drag seat. I thought it would've taken me a few minutes to drill a couple holes with a dremel and bolt it on. Several hours later I got it where I'm pretty happy with it. I'm using the two back bolt locations on the seat (where the bolts where the side tail fairings bolt) then just using velcro on the bottom of the seat and on the gas tank mount as a front mount. Also had to sand down the back a bit to be able to get the passenger seat on and off. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...psxg8qqo54.jpg I'll install the shock in a few weeks when I have it torn apart to install some velocity stacks since the gas tank has to come off to install the shock. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...psphbg3yc6.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...psexnwezyi.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...pshjs5w7ct.jpg Saved a little less than a 1lb with seat an lowered the seat about 1" over the stock one. The weight savings wasn't planned but is a nice little benefit. The lower seat helps put my weight lower and more forward so the bike is less prone to wheelie. In regular clothes the lower seat makes it a lot easier to get a nice low tuck, hopefully its the same way in full leathers. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...pslsmnnggk.jpg Also think I figured out how to mount my Powercommander screen so I can watch my A/F ratio while doing pulls or while on the track if I can look down at it. I'll run the wires up to it when its torn apart for installing some velocity stacks  http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...pszl3rhzih.jpg Figured a ballistic battery would help save weight as well, didn't save as much weight as I was thinking it would for the price tag. Ya well, weight is weight. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...psk2nchcuw.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...pse3dsea3y.jpg Also got some DEI Reflect-A-Gold tape to wrap my air box and bottom of my gas tank. Some guys say it helps keep the airbox cold and can help at the track. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...ps8btak27s.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...ps9ntx2lep.jpg A guy I was talking to said he used 1.5 rolls of this to use on his airbox and the underside of his gas tank. I guess the underside of the gas tank is nice to have as well to help keep fuel cooler. I know VP says on their website to line the underside of the tank with heat reflective tape when running MR12, so it has to have some benefit. Got a Launch Master too, which is kind of like a 2 step. Hopefully this helps me be a bit more consistent with my launches and helps me think about one less thing since I can be wide open as soon as I'm staged. I'll be curious to see if it works how I hope and how it sounds. I'm a giant ricer :bling: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...psfu3k39qc.jpg |
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Good additions man! I'd like to get mine out to a track day just to see what I can do on it later in the season, maybe up at PG if they let bikes run.
Excited to run 13's @ a lot of mph, it'll be like old times :) |
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
I'll take some of that gold tape!!
You can test your 2 step against me if you want!! |

I LIKE GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD!

Then i'll install those, button it up, take it for a spin and let the autotune do its thing and get a few launches in on the street hopefully before the first track day at the slippery rock! |
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
That thing looks like a bad bitch!
I wish my DSM sounded like that, most DSMs sound like lazy window lickers when on the 2-step. |

Got some foam on the seat to hopefully hold me in a bit better and got some new stickers for the tail. Honesty is the best policy right? :bling: |
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Was a nice day in Canada yesterday so tried out the Launch Master on a closed road :seeya:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HD8hK6xez0&hd=1 The clutch switch is pretty much right at the grip and I'm used to letting the lever out a bit when launching. Also not used to trying to hold the throttle wide open before slipping the clutch, it felt pretty weird so launches weren't all that impressive looking. The air shifter didn't work either. Could hear the box click and the solenoid for the shifter clicked too so thinking it must be tapped into a wrong wire on the launch master harness. Think I might have fixed it last night so taking it for another spin today and see if it's actually fixed. If it doesn't work I might rip out the launch master as I'd way rather have an air shifter over a 2 step. |

Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
Been out a few times this year and can't seem to get any faster than 9.1x on pump gas. Only time I halfway had the shock setup for my fatass was this past weekend and didn't wheelie or spin but I still can't cut a good 60' to save my life.
Guessing I'm around 210ish suited so I'm sure it'd be faster if I could lose some weight but I like crappy food too much. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_k-_lCEGp4&hd=1 Slip for that video ^ RT: -0.087 60': 1.503 330: 3.909 1/8: 5.906 MPH: 121.95 1000: 7.663 1/4: 9.185 MPH: 147.07 Got a run in against my buddy on his nitrous zx14. Only got the win light because of my good reaction time. Was a damn close race! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpEFYi9p1Yg&hd=1 RT: .048 60': 1.525 330: 3.895 1/8: 5.883 MPH: 122.19 1000: 7.636 1/4: 9.152 MPH: 147.42 One nice thing with the launch master is I was cutting .0xx reaction times all day on Saturday and was pretty consistently slow in the 9.1xx range. Any tips to get that 60' time down or things to try? I've got a 3 day race weekend coming up on June 19-21 that I kind of want to try to try different gearing and different launching techniques. Only thing is money will be kind of tight between now and then :( |
Re: Brad's New Bike - '12 ZX10R
