Re: Fancy Beer!

Very nice xmas presents, Mark!

I didn't get any beer for Xmas... but I got 2 kits to make some! I got a Bourbon Barrel Ale (to which I'm going to at some sour cherries from my tree) and a Blonde ale that I'm going to add wild yeast, and 20 pounds of raspberries to, to make a Raspberry Tart Lambic!

I drank the Three Floyds Dark Lord on Xmas. Was very tasty. Was thicker than darkness, and less chocolaty.

That Bourbon County was pretty good when I tried it at The Happy Gnome the other night.

Not sure how I've missed this thread. I'm a pretty big craft brew guy myself.

My favorite so far has been New Holland Dragon's Milk. It's a Stout aged in Bourbon Barrels. It goes for around $16 for a 4-pack, so not cheap. I've found a poor man's version of it but can't recall exactly what it is now.

I've also liked nearly anything from Tyranena brewery, especially Rocky's Revenge. It's another Bourbon Barrel aged beer, but it's a Brown Ale.

Finally, France 44 (on 44th and France, imagine that) has by far the best craft selection I've seen. They also have a Beer of the Month club with home delivery available. You get 2 each of 6 different selections each month. A great gift for an enthusiast.

Dragon's Milk is awesome.

I've only tried a couple of Tyranena's offerings, but I've been impressed with them.

The Four Firkins have a lot of different kind of beer from around the world. It's in Saint Louis Park and I think they give a 5% or 10% discount using cash. Another cool thing is you can combine 6 different beers.

So I'm just not a fan of Smoke, and I have two bottles I'd let go to someone who wants them. I'd love to be able to trade if someone had some (or knew of a place locally who had some) 2012 Blue Moon vintage blonde ale.

What do you want for them and how many do you have left

I wasn't a big fan of this year's Smoke either. You could hardly even tell it was a smoked porter.

Is it me or is Buffalo Sweat (made by Tall Grass) harder to find now. I've talked to 3 stores and they've all told me that they can't get it anymore. Something about how Tall Grass is out of it.

This is why you celler beer. We are just drinking our 2009-2010 smoke bottles now. It needs to age to make the flavors come out more.

I haven't had any problems finding it. It's one of my favorite, year round, beers. I sure hope its not getting harder to find!
