Couldn't you get some sort of bladder to put inside? Fuelsafe.com may have something for you.

I finished up the lexan rear window installation. I don't know the exact weight savings, but its a good amount. The diet is going good I'm estimating 110 pounds removed so far between the lexan, battery move, front and rear brakes, and new tank with much less fuel.

The next photo is all the stuff I removed for the battery relocation. It shaved off 19.5 pounds!

I have a sealable fuel vent to seal the tank from air, to avoid moisture getting to the fuel. I also welded in a drain plug too, so I could drain the fuel for long term storage over the winter.

It's amazing how much weight is tied up in a battery relocation to the trunk. I know I saved 12lbs just in wiring when I relocated back to the front!

I did sport compact a disservice last weekend. Showing how this really sucks to try to keep a car running when it’s an import. My first pass I had a set screw loosen up on my throttle body and when I floored the accelerator pedal to get on the two step the car went to idle…. Pass #2 rev the car up, and start slipping clutch, bam broke the freshly installed upgraded transfer case from Boostin Performance…Fuck Fuck Fuck, 1200.00 dollars down the drain, 5-10 feet. Fucking garbage, my luck sucks. I put the factory case back in that I ran at the map event and keep in mind this is my last chance at qualifying, rolled off the line free reving the car and ran a 9.7 @ 153. Got DQ’s for being too light. Car with me, passenger seat with belts weighed in at 2780 and needed to be 2850. This means that I have the car down to 2540-2550 range without me and my safety gear.
The upside is that I pulled the parachute, which is totally awesome! To prove it was a street car they do a cruise around the race track for 4 laps, super fun running down the straights at 40+ pounds of boost! My wife screamed every time I got into the boost, super funny, she is screaming on video that she was shooting of the cruise.
The car is running great, all the fueling issues are worked out now thanks to MAP helping me out with swapping out the 2150’s. Over all it was a great weekend, makes me want to run a V8 car with turbos. People running tractor T88 old school turbos, running 8’s all weekend , weighting 4000+ pounds, with 15 psi of boost was sickening.

Thats sucks! Cool to hear about the weight though. Im sure it takes a ton of patience and money to get a 4 cyl in the 9s.

Re: Mark's 1G Winter Projects

You see Jesse Nelsons giant 4000+ lbs chevelle running 8s with ease at low boost.

Makes me want one.
I'm sure your luck will change soon enough, sucks you had to pay that much for a T-case to not even get a pass out of it.

Wow, I think they'd be getting an earful from me if that happened. Good luck getting it back on the road.

I removed my instrument cluster and installed my dual range tach. I also installed a AEM serial gauge. The serial gauge is awesome showing more functions that what I had. Programming was not for the novice, but I have it showing multiple different functions, like battery voltage, water temp, wideband, fuel pressure, boost, and speed ect.

Time to put a chevy duramax xfer case in that thing! :)

Shitty luck on the xfer case situation man. At least you got to make a run and have some fun with it!

Don't sweat the boosted v8's, it's all relative.

I've always wondered why no one makes an aluminum exhaust system. Good to see that it can be done. Looks great btw. (I realize that it's old news, but my first time seeing it.) As for the rest of the thread, omfg, holy shit, and jfc. Great Work man!! That's a pretty df amazing 1G. Oh and I was just curios what gauge that Al. tubing is, and how is it holding up?

turbotalon1g 09-17-2012 09:26 AM

Re: Mark's 1G Winter Projects

There are a lot of people with AL exhaust, I think mark is the only local, for now.

Re: Mark's 1G Winter Projects

Running aluminum exhaust can be a pain in the ass. I have it on my Evo and the Talon. I have broken both systems, and the breakage is at just about the same point too. I think I have most of the weak points fixed and the welds are reinforced where the aluminum connects to the SS down pipe. I have 3K miles on the evo now with no issues since the repair. I’m sure over time I will have other issues, owning a tig welder comes in handy! I don’t recall the gauge, I think 16?

Yeah, I have cut my best 60's and 1/4 mile mph and times on a stock case. Just some bad luck on the upgraded ones.

Making some side mirror deletes out of fiberglass. I want them to cosmetically look good and be easily removable so I can install the factory in minutes. Should be a fun little project. Anyone know a painter that could finish paint these once I'm done?

Re: Mark's 1G Winter Projects

I got a friend that is a painter, just tell him they are plates about the size of where the mirror bolts up?
In black?
Shoot me a PM with info so not to clutter your thread.
