Last night we mounted up the oil cooler and filled the cooling system with coolant. I got the fittings to make my lines fit on the cooler but forgot them at work and wasn't going to go back and get them. So we're planning on finishing it up on Tuesday night and doing the initial start up and run it for 20min. Then it will sit until we get some spring weather.

I also picked up a boost-a-pump from cornfed2.4. Just have to make sure it's the right one before it's installed. I'm going to get a few interior parts from his 1g to help clean up the interior of my car.

You filled the oil cooler with coolant?

Haha no. I meant I filled the cooling system with coolant. I suppose I could have worded that better. Post has been edited

Everything is coming together! I vote that you should run the PTE 6766, twin scroll T4. It would be my turbo of choice if I moved out of 42R land. A 67mm car is much much more forgiving to drive, it’s much easier to stay in boost the entire pass. Especially during the 1-2 shift.
What intercooler is on the car?

I'm excited for the snow to go away lol! As of right now I'm planning on a 6766 t4 Twin Scroll with a 1.32 a/r. Boostin performance was extremely helpful in helping me decide what route to go. They are definitely very knowledgeable. As of right now funds are starting to dry up for this project so I will probably have to go the journal bearing route but would much rather go ball bearing if I can. Then I just need to figure out where I'm going to have my new exhaust made

As for the intercooler its a redjack racing. I believe it's a custom one Swifty had someone he knows make. I'd have to measure it to get the specs on it.

Alright I was able to measure my ic core tonight. It's 4.5in thick, 12in tall, and 24in wide, and it has a 3in inlet and outlet.

Alright wasn't planning on working on the car tonight but finished things up tonight. She's ready to fire up. We're going to be starting her up for the first time in 8 months this weekend!

Also found one of my disappointing dyno sheets from when I was having alternator issues while at db. The numbers are uncorrected. Lol

Yeah I saw that. I was talking with the shop that did that comparison. They are the ones who helped me decide to go with a 6766. If I could afford the fp I would definitely go that route but due to funds I will most likely go with a journal bearing 6766

As for a little update on the car I got it basically finished up earlier in the week and am going to go fire her up for the first time this afternoon. I also got my tax refund so I will be ordering a turbo tomorrow. Just need to get some miles on it and figure out where I'm going to have my new exhaust made

I know in the past Swifty ran into some IC pressure drop issues with a smaller intercooler. Good thing he replaced it with a great core. Instead of the Chinese garbage that was on it. I’m curious to see how that large exhaust housing T4 PTE 67 works out for you!

Re: my new project

Yeah I'm curious to see how it will do as well. I might go with a 1.15a/r but will probably go with the 1.32 that Boostin performance recommended

Mark Leasure 02-17-2013 05:36 PM

Re: my new project

I would run the 1.32

Re: my new project

Yeah you are probably right on that. I'll be ordering the turbo tomorrow. Well we got her running and did the initial start up and run. Then I dropped the oil and topped off the transmission. Now we might take it out and put a few miles on it in a little bit

Re: my new project

I'd take the advice of Mark and boostin performance. Your car is going to be sick with the 67mm on it it will probly make as mutch or more power then the old turbo and spool faster.
