La fea negro

It's black, ugly, unreliable, a tree fell on it and it's been in a barn for ten years. That's about it. Pictures.

Re: La fea negro

Okay I added a VC and Kiggly HLA/oil pressure regulator. Besides that and removing that stupid intake filter/silencer it's stock. Or was.. Wheel bearings, axles and half the brakes. Then the harmonic balancer took a schist on the test drive. SWEEEET.

Anyone local ever find a solution to not having the lower bushings on 1g rear shocks? Ol' Cornfed sold me these KYB and Teins way back without 'em. KYB won't come through on replacements either.

Looks alright for a POS.

Holy fuck that's nice.

Re: La fea negro

The 245s are a little over-kill and I get slight rubbing..especially with the front lowered. Car sits bad ass though. REALLY wish someone made a set of replacement rear bushing for the trailing arms so I could level it out. Definitely needs more love in the brake category. CTS-V brakes are the plan but idk.

Fun fact; those wheels are off of the old silver 1,000HP Evo. of MAPs..whatever happened to that car I wonder..? I know the engine got pulled because of the flywheel micro-welding to the crank. Hmm.. Enough of my rambling!

They do make replacement bushings, its part of the master kit.

I should've been more specific. Bushings for the rear shocks where they bolt to the trailing arms.

Does Energy make them? Otherwise, hit up RockAuto.com, replacement KYB rear shocks are only $25

From reading on 'Tuners and a Talk/Tech page/group on Facebook it seems they are just plain not available. I've considered the new shock route. I'd probably end up getting all four new and that's a bit more substantial (obviously). Plus because of wholesale close-outs only one of each is around $25.

I'd probably jump up to the AGX since I have the GR-2 now..even though both are essentially a "garbage" option compared to something nice like a Koni setup. Sad they discontinued the rears. Come to think of it...the AWD Mirage has AGXs in it and that's not going anywhere anytime soon...

Hmm..

Re: La fea negro

Stupid transfer case seal was leaking so I got the yoke kit and some other junk. Hopefully all that happened was the balancer came apart. I was reading horror stories of the balancer hitting and taking the timing belt out. If that's the case there might be a nice fire at our shop this weekend.

My bad I didn't catch the bushings you were looking for, that's insane no one makes them.

Might have to contact some of these people making custom parts.

I spent a good part of the evening and actually this morning getting this balancer deal figured out. My guess was right too..

http://i467.photobucket.com/albums/r...psftjxqisc.jpg

If the previous owner of this car wouldn't have died from OD'ing (on whatever), I probably would've killed 'em... The car is plagued with all sorts of hardware store, standard bolts. The threads are metric but the heads are standard or flat heads..I don't get it. lol The balancer bolts are even 1/2". Annoying to say the least.

The other thing was I didn't realize you had to trim the timing cover for the Fluidamper. I installed and removed that thing like 7 times. I got it figure out but man was it a long process.

Believe it or not this car had semi working AC when I first got it. I didn't order an AC belt however so that got taken off and I assume the AC system will follow when/if I decide to have the system emptied. I also put new bushing in the shifter assembly and my God what a difference! The brass bushing on the transmission side seemed to help stiffen things up but I'm having an issue with getting into 5th and reverse. My luck I bent one of the cables. Good luck finding on of those. The shifter base kit that I have which is supposed to work with a '90 is also pissing me off. The metal washers/spacers are completely wrong for the shift base. So I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that.

I hoping to leave for the Shootout tomorrow but I'm sure that'll fall through 'cause my luck and 'Merica.

How does the weather look for the shootout, some were saying it was iffy.

Also what are you plans for this car? I vote keep AC

Re: La fea negro

Someone mentioned rain. Of course everyone flaked last minute so this is the 7th year I get to wish I was there. lol FFS.

I haven't a clue. Well, I guess I do as I have this for it.

Some bastard 20g deal. I believe its custom from somebody. IDK. I got it from Kris Hall. Or, I have to go get it yet but that's what'll be going on. So I guess just a nasty street car?

Re: La fea negro

Yeah dude definitely try to keep AC, we only get 5 month season and 3 of them are humid as fuck.

Looks like this will be a nice car when you get it going!

Re: La fea negro

I decided to change the brakes on the back and welllll...not everything went as planned. I had a grinding noise and yeah. I had an issues. The grind was the rear pad essentially machining away the back of the rotor.

http://i467.photobucket.com/albums/r...psg7gdwdcx.jpg

The caliper is seized and removed actually. Line clamped off with a vise grip. Calipers aren't really expensive but I need both and e-brake cables. One of the wheel studs is bad so that means the whole bearing to come out.

Transfer case is still leaking even after a new seal. The boots on the carrier bearings are pretty much gone. Rear shocks are bad. This is a 3 bolt car.

At the end of the day this would end up with new everything and I cannot afford that at the moment so..there she'll sit. lol So typical. I can very easily see why people get rid of these for something much newer and more reliable. Not to mention easier part availability (lobro joint boot/grease kits are on extended back order from Japan according to JNZs site).

Re: La fea negro

Rear calipers have always been a problem on these.

For the rear bushings, I had to buy two new parts store ones for $120 just to cut the lower mounts off for my JIC coilovers.

Just buy my Koni/Eibach setup and be done with it. Looks and rides perfect. $400 cash.

Re: La fea negro

That'a essentially the setup I wanted but at the very moment it isn't in the budget. I was planning on throwing a few more things up for sale
If they sell like the rest of my stuff has then I might be getting ahold of you in a few weeks.
