Full of Envy
On Saturday morning (2:30am) I found a 1994 Eagle Talon TSI AWD 5 spd BLACK with 103,000mi for $2,995 right at a ghetto used car place 5 miles away from my house. That day I went and looked at it; it was rust and ding and major scratch free, the interior was near mint, and the care was 100% stock. Unmolested what so ever, blew Ice cold A/C, was converted to R134a in 2000, and had a leaking power steering pump, valve cover, and one slightly bent rim. Nothing major. I went to the bank that day to get a loan, I was gonna get my money a few hours from now. I called the used car lot, some fucker bought the car this morning.
So if you're on here, I hate you. A lot. Because I'm jealous. |
Re: Full of Envy
That's some funny shit. But in reality that happens A LOT with 1Gs as dealers. That car woudl have probably sold for 5k if he would have waited a bit.

Re: Full of Envy
You should have put some money down if it was going to be a deal in the end, unless they wouldn't do that..
Sounded like a good deal though. |
Re: Full of Envy
Always put a deposit down before you leave the lot.

Re: Full of Envy
yeh well i should have. *beats head against desk* I just didn't know if I'd get the loan so I didn't want to waste money.

Re: Full of Envy
Well why didn't you put money down on it the first time you were at the dealer? Like some type of ernest money or something.

Exactly! Once I just put $100 down on a car and they saved it for me. Just telling them you're going to the bank to get a loan isn't good enough. They hear that story 50x a day. How are they to know who is serious and actually coming back. |
Re: Full of Envy
The hell they are. I only refund deposits if something goes wrong on my end. I always end up losing money if the first buyer doesn't come through.

Re: Full of Envy
I'm in the banking business. Ernest money is usually only refunded if loan funding falls through or certain contingencies aren't meant.
Yes, usually ernest money is non-refundable otherwise. It's then considered a fee for the brokers/loan persons time and possible loss of a sale. For example, you put money down on something, somebody came by the next day was going to buy it but the dealer said he can't sell it because there is money down. Then you back out or can't get financing. He loses a possible sale because that 2nd person that was gonna buy it never comes back. Typically it's around $500. Some places might accept less. |

Re: Full of Envy
Basically I took me putting a deposit down as non refundable. That way if I don't go through, the seller at least gets my deposit for turning away potential buyers. I didnt know if the loan was gonna go through, so I didn want to end up losing what little money I had.
