I like how pretty much everyone is listing 'get in/back in shape'....the classic resolution (that few actually keep =0 )

Mine is fairly expansive: become the best person I've ever been. I mean this in every sense of the word. Confidence is the key :)

Yeah, I was noticing the same thing.

It has been a goal of mine for the last 5 months or so (when I started seriously lifting weights), but now with a fresh year, I can start "cutting down" as I just got done "bulking up" and added about 10 lbs of muscle. But spring break is around 2 months away, so dropping 10 lbs of fat and keeping the muscle would be awesome.

1) Get in better shape. I lost 20lbs last year, and I'd like to lose another 20 this year.

2) Complete the MS150 in July

3) Debt free by the end of August

4) Go at least 363 more days without a smoke

A goal for the site should also be to get Tauni a boyfriend. Damn that girl needs to get laid!

Mark I'm with ya on the smoking. I haven't smoked once this year. Feels like 360 days gone by already!

It's a two day ride (bicycle) from Duluth to the twin cities. It's not a race or anything, just a charity ride for the MS Society to help people with Multiple Sclerosis.

Wow! Thats impressive! I wouldn't mind doing something like that if I knew I wouldn't drop dead after the first 3 hours! That's really cool, man!

Re: New Years Resolutions

I only have one.

Start using some of my skills and experiences to help others.

Explanation:

As some of you know I have boxed for about 16 years now. I used to fight out of numerous gyms up in Duluth, and the the local VFW/Moose Clubs in Duluth. It was a great experience and I wouldn't trade it for the world. But with all the good, a lot of bad came with that as well. To make long story short I was basically forced to move down to the cities because of all the trouble I was getting in up in Duluth. The fellow boxers I hung around were always in fights and trouble and were going nowhere fast. So I left, best move I ever made hands down.

For two years now I have taken some time off from the gym to clear my head. But now I have decided to go back and start mentoring younger kids that are up and coming in the same sport. I have talked to numerous former golden gloves boxers other than myself that do this as well and they tell me the benefits are endless. Prevention at a early age is key. Discipline is one thing, but experiences learned from others is priceless.

I think if I had somebody like this back when I was younger that had experienced some of the things that I have went through it would have changed a lot of things for me. My dad was instrumental in my growth and did as much as he could, but ultimately it was the group of so called friends that I hung around that led me down a path to fail.

The gyms I am going to be most likely working at are:

Upper Midwest Golden Gloves
Uppercut Gym
Circle of Discipline

The program basically consists of just hanging out with inter city kids that don't have role models around them. Whether its going to the gym with them, taking them to Mcdonalds, or whatever. Just spending time with them and letting them know that there is somebody that cares about them goes a long way.

If there is anybody else that is interested in doing something like this, there are many other organizations that need people to mentor young kids in the twin cities area. Send me a PM and I will help as much as I can.

(whipes forehead) Damn being all sensitive has taken it out of me.
