Vikings & Culpepper
I didn't watch the game but I caught the highlights. Has anyone heard if Culpepper will be out for numerous games or the rest of the season? Tough loss. Don't feel bad. Our Packers suck shit! I pretty much give up on them this year. At 1 & 6, they will never make it to the playoffs. I'll have to root for some other team this year that actually puts a little more effort into their games. :D

Re: Vikings & Culpepper
It sounds like he will be out for a while, the rumor is 3-4 weeks minimum.
This could actually be a good thing though. Brad Johnson can make decisions better than Daunte, but he doesn't have Daunte's arm. |
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
Yeah true. You guys had another backup QB at one time, wasn't it Randall Cuningham? If i remember, he was pretty good and took the team quite a ways. That must have been 3 or 4 years ago. I can't remember the details though.

Re: Vikings & Culpepper
Fuck the Vikes. THEM 49ers are going all the way! LOL
I can't wait till Sunday when I go to the Vikes game. Garcia better watch some film and realize Smoot vs ANY Lions WR is easy pickings! |
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
Fuck smoot.
|
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
It's so weird how good teams come and go. I can remember years back when the 49ers were actually a threat. That would have been the Steve Young days.
|
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
Usually they don't change quite as fast as teh Vikes.

You mean the Montana, Young, and early Garcia Days. ;) I don't think people realize that the Vikes had their best team with Culpepper, Moss, & Smith where there was the threat down the field which opened up the run game. The Vikes haven't scared anyone this year like they did with Moss. |
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
This taken from StarTribune--
Almost certainly, Culpepper will not play again -- outside or inside -- until 2006. An MRI performed today is expected to show a torn anterior cruciate ligament, and team officials are concerned about the possibility of damage to other ligaments and possibly the bones around Culpepper's knee as well. "If it's as serious as it appears," Tice said, "it's devastating for our football team." |
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
Yep, them days.... I enjoyed watching them back then. I went out to San Fran and watched the Packers play the 49ers a few years back. Sat in the miserable frickin' rain. At least we won. Garcia was the QB for 49ers at that time.

Re: Vikings & Culpepper
Hate to say it, but in their division they actually might have a chance with Johnson. He's got nothing to lose at his age and everything to gain if he wants to play anywhere ever again. Look for a serious change.
|
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
Sometimes it turns out that the backup QB is better than their lead starter QB. Look at Look at Marc Bulger and Kurt Warner a couple years back. When Warner went out with injuries, Bulder did better than Kurt was doing. Sometimes I wish we'd get a new QB maybe even a new coach. Shit! sometimes I wish we had a whole different team. :D
Where did Brad come from, Tampa Bucs??? |
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
Yeah, he won a superbowl with the Buc and they cut him the following year. LOL
|
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
Wasn't Brad the starting QB for MN in '98? Then he got injured and Randall Cunningham took over, then Jeff George, then I think it was Cullpeper. So now that Daunte is down, Brad get's his starting position back.
|
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
Ya, the Vikes had a thing there for awhile with picking up old vet QB's. We had McMahon and Moon start for us a ways back. Then Johnson was our starter until we picked up Cunningham.
|
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
Not the talk is weather the Vikes should deal Daunte to someone else.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...x.html?cnn=yes I think they should. It's been show these past 6 games that the Vikes do better with a Pocket Passer when the OF line can protect halfed assed. I think they should bring in another young guy and let Brad finish his years out as the Vikes starter and mentor the next guy. Brad proven with the Bucs and now the Vikes that he CAN lead a team to glory still. I hate the vikes and I think if the Vikes make it to the Playoffs they could very well get past ANY team but Seattle with a solid game. Against Seattle they would need to play their best game and then it's possible. And I think they have a shot against any team in the AFC other than the Colts. lol |
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
Brad Johnson was on the Viking for 4 or 5 years. We still a shirt with his name on it from back in the 90s. The Vikings seem to usually do best when they bring in aging veterans and run them for a year or 2.
|
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
I was watching ESPN and they were talking about next year and Mike Tice said if he is still head coach, Daunte will be starting quarter back and the beginning of next year no matter how good Brad does this year.
I think this is bullshit! They didnt start winning until Daunte was out of the game! |
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
I didn't think that he was goin to be ready at teh start of the year.
|
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
The new word is that Daunte is negotiating his own shit now and wants 10 million more. What a fuck face. The rumar is the Vikings are willing to send him to another team for a 2nd round draft pick. If he's gone next season I will officially start to like the vikings!
If it's true that's gotta make him feel like shit, only being worth a 2nd round pick. lol |
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
|
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
Yeah, I heard that on the radio this morning. I say get rid of him. I think in his current condition, and with a 6m bonus due on March 15th (I think that's when it was) a 2nd round draft pick would be a pretty good trade for him.

His body falling apart and it's been painful to watch the games. The fire is gone, it's time to let him go and get new, young, *HEALTHY* QB and rebuild the team. |
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
I have never really liked him anyhow as he can never seem to hold onto the football. He has always had a lot of turnovers and interceptions. I haven't watched many games, but every time I watched, I saw at least 3 turnovers and sometimes 3 interceptions and a couple of fumbles.
|
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
Looks like he gonna be gone for sure now. I say SWEET to that one!
http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/MIN/9292669 I hope they give him what he's asking for. A boot. |
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
We need to go out and sign some of those available linebackers out there!
|
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
Sweet! Think of all that cap room! He has all the physical attributes, his brain is just too slow to keep up with the speed of the game. I think we could make a game plan around that, but he will never be one of the great improvising QB's. We need to draft someone to take over after Johnson retires in a year or 2 though.
|
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
Brees is available, wonder how this will all pan out.
|
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
Brees will end up in Miami or San Fran is my guess. MN will probably land E James from Indy to help at RB and let Johnson sling the shit out of the ball this year.
|
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
News today was that Culpepper demanded a trade or to be released from the vikings so go BJ!

Re: Vikings & Culpepper

Re: Vikings & Culpepper
Sold to the Dolphins for a 2nd round pick, as long as he passes a physical.

Re: Vikings & Culpepper
AWESOME! I'm now a vikings fan!
|
Re: Vikings & Culpepper
I see the Vikings picked up the Packers kicker, Ryan Longwell.
