I have a carfax account for about another 2 weeks. If anyone is buying a car and would like to check VIN's, just post it in this thread ;) . I can tell you if its OK or not.

Says the VIN # is invalid. Follwoing reasons are possible.
- The letters "I", "O", and "Q" never appear in a VIN.
- The VIN must be exactly 17 characters in length.
- The CARFAX database contains information for cars manufactured from 1981 through the present

Also, you don't seem to have an email set up dude. The report is too big for PMs. Unless you'd just like me to tell you that it's good or bad, thats all.

Second one's been crashed once. :eek: But's its been driven about 30-40 k miles after that, so it must be OK. Emailed complete report to you.

First one's a lease car - looks OK. ;)
Second one was a commercial vehicle. Been crashed once too. Doesn't look as if its been driven much, if at all, after the accident. Looks risky dude. :eek:

It's had a crash but has been driven approx 10k after that. The weird thing is that it appears to be exempt from odometer reading at a time when it was not over 100 k and neither was the car over 10 yrs. Perhaps Kansas laws are different? Hope this helps.

After reading that report I realized my girlfriend gave me the VIN off of the wrong car. I wanted to check the history on the AWD TSi I just bought. She gave me the VIN off of the FWD TSi.
