Got's Me A Joby!
Just thought I'd share my joy. I just found out on Monday that I have a new job. I will be an electrical technician/electrician for Alcoa KAMA in Rogers. Pay is ok, starting wage is 18.50/hr. The other company I was speaking with paid more, but they are being slow and this seems like a very nice company. So ya, hooray, I'm excited!! I start in a week or 2!!

Re: Got's Me A Joby!
Sweet! Yeah, I'd love to find something in accounting in Rogers/St Micheal/Elk River.
|
Re: Got's Me A Joby!
Good luck with the new job!
|
Re: Got's Me A Joby!
I wouldn't mind moving to Rogers neither since I'll be in the market for a house too. Just seems like everything has gotten so damn expensive now a days. You guys know any good house spots in Rogers I should be looking at? Any websites?

Did you look at the Spyder today?

Re: Got's Me A Joby!
Damn, $18.50 isn't bad, that's for sure. Is it a Union job, I can't remember of Alcoa is a Union company or not?

Re: Got's Me A Joby!
Rogers is over priced! I used this site to look for a home http://mlsfinder.com/mn_RMLS/jenniferschmeling/

Re: Got's Me A Joby!
Yeah, if you want to move up here, Otsego is the place to buy right now before housing prices go up even more. Rogers is getting expensive because it's supposed to be the "next Maple Grove".

Re: Got's Me A Joby!
I would much rather have just my own house instead of a town home. But I suppose I need to stop being pickey. What waterfront areas are there? I'm not that familiar with rogers.
Also I am 95% positive that Alcoa is not Union, but not 100%. And Chris, nah I didn't get to look at it yet. Apparently this guy has like 5 different cars so he doesn't drive it everyday to work. I'm gunna have my friend talk to him somemore who works with him. |
Re: Got's Me A Jobby!
Damn, sign me up there as well.
Oh, and yes, you need another car. Austin has you beat.:D And I can get you south of the river in good old BP. Our house will be on the market next month. A great starter home that needs nothing except maybe a hot tub and a stripper pole. |

Re: Got's Me A Joby!
Yeah, Steve's house is very nice! Not a busy street either.
|
Re: Got's Me A Joby!
It's a lot nicer now. We've put a lot of money and time into it since I've had the car club over. New landscaping, new carpet, tile floors, all new light fixtures. I'll have twice as much stuff to do once we get our new place, it's a lot bigger.

Re: Got's Me A Joby!
Yet I havent bene there:(

Re: Got's Me A Joby!
Nice Steve, but sounds expensive with all this new landscaping and shit. I live kinda by ya and I do like these neighborhoods a lot. I'm sure you're place would be great, but would again it sounds a lil expensive for my blood. I actually wouldn't mind finding a Hud Home that needs some work done, for cheap. That'd work for me. Your house does sound nice tho man, and I'd think you'd wanna get all the money out of it you can, and this will be my first house so I'm not looking to spend a huge chunk.
Yes I do want another car. There is a 96 Spyder GST I'm looking at with 90k miles, and owned by a guy who has no idea of the value of dsms. He has exhaust, rims and I think it's lowered. Otherwise it's stock. I think that'd be sweet. I told ya I wanted a convertable!!! If you can find one for cheap, and reliable, then we'll talk more. Or just find another vette convertable like the one you had, and sell it for 6k, and we'll have a deal!! |
Re: Got's Me A Joby!
Well this job has been great so far. Hell they even started me at 19.08 an hour after they told me 18.50. But another opportunity may be in the near future. I had an interview today with a company called PaR Nuclear out of Shoreview. The job pays twice as much as my current job, and I sure do gotta feeling that I totally aced that interview yesterday. All 3 interviews I went through, they seemed to absolutely love me!! So I got my fingers crossed!!! Should find out here in a couple days! If I get it, then KICK ASS. If I don't, well I'm still happy where I'm at. So it's win/win how I look at it!
|
Re: Got's Me A Joby!
I just got the email from PaR Nuclear today offering me the job! I'm pretty excited. Now I just gotta break the news to the company I've been working at for barely even a month! I dont know when I'd start, but I can't wait. Getting to refuel nuke plants sounds pretty neat!

That is sweet!! Good luck with everything!

Re: Got's Me A Joby!
Holy shit that's a lot of money! You had better pick up a DSM from each year to take up some of that cash. :D
|
Re: Got's Me A Joby!
I had considered ditching the 1g since I could possibly pick up something a little nicer then a 1g as my toy now. But I've decided for now, I will stick with it, and if anything i'll upgrage my daily driver before my toy. But before I upgrade either of those, i need to buy a deng house. Just gotta find me a roommate!

Re: Got's Me A Joby!
More info on the new job man! Soudns fucking cool as hell. Congrats!

Re: Got's Me A Joby!
Well I can tell ya everything I know so far. I will be starting it on October 24th. Company is called PaR Nuclear. They make the equipment used for refueling nuke plants. All the scaffolding, robotic arms, etc. I would be working outta Shoreview, helping assemble these things and whatever tasks they need me to do. Then anywhere from like 4-8 weeks in the spring, and 4-8 weeks in the fall, I'd travel to various nuke plants while they use our equipment to refuel. And if there are any problems, I'd be one of the technicians working on it to fix the problem. Travel is all over the globe. My base pay is 21/hr, but when they add in the travel, they give you major compensation. My title is Field Technician Level 1, and after all the travel and stuff is said and done, the level 1 techs there are bringing home around 77k/year. I can't complain with that. I don't think I'm worth that much, but if they think so, then who am I to tell them no!
|
Re: Got's Me A Joby!
always think of yourself as "worth that much" and more.
i know for a fact that i'm worth way more than what i'm getting paid right now, but i have no formal training, and no college degree. so, i need one or the other, and i like the college route much better. maybe spring semester. anyway, sweet sounding job. i'm envious. |
