Smallest turbo...

Ok so im wondering, what is the Smallest (thats still useful) turbo sold today. Is there any turbos that would work with a 110 cc 4 stroke engine? I was thinking maybe a single 9b but that may still be a little big. Any ideas?

Just use the one off your car.

I've seen turbos the size of a grape fruit here at work. We use them on some of our diesel engines. They're probably around 1,000 cc's or so. I don't really work on that stuff though. If you're really interested, I can see if I can find some more specs on them.

I don't think you will find anything small enough. Garrett makes a GT10 that is meant for 500cc engines. That is the closest I could find.

the ko3 turbo is pretty small

some old volvo turbo's might work aswell.

The GT10 will do for that.
I would look into model aircraft things aswell. I know that some R/C aircraft use turbos or superchargers.

Re: Smallest turbo...

Rc aircraft turbos might be too small for this application. At least im getting 2 of these so if i blow this one up ill have a backup N/A one. LOL
Do i really need an intercooler or not?
Here are the problems im seeing with this setup... Finding the right turbo application, Fitting everything in there, fuel?, Spooling the turbo, finding a small enought BOV, keeping the front tire on the ground under boost, fighting off all the chicks once they see me riding this bad boy. LOL

Look into Hitachi, I have seen a few apps they have that are very small displacement.

Re: Smallest turbo...

and the final question is, Do you think this will work? I know the best way to find out is to just try it. but does this seem physically possible to do.

Aren't there turbo charger kits for those motorized stand-up scooters? I dont' know the size of those engines but who knows they they have if they do make them.

I just found this on the SCminiGP site, :( looks like the N/A bike is going to be the one for racing. but who says i cant still have a little fun on the turbo bike.

Re: Smallest turbo...

Why do you want a small turbo? A tiny turbo might actually support less power than the bike makes NA. You need to pick a turbo for the power you want. Too small and it will just be a restriction. For example, a 2G T25 will only support around 225-250whp max. So if you put it on a 350whp V8, the car would lose power. You can get away with a bigger turbo than you might think on a bike, since you can usually rev the motor much higher than a car.

Re: Smallest turbo...

Very true, Thanks for the input, Im going to look into the GT50, and a few more applications, even though its for a 500cc engine, ill do a little research and see what i can do with it. I know on these bikes theres a lot you can do with timeing, sprockets etc. Any other advise would be greatly Appreciated.

Look around on the net for parted out early 80s Honda 650 Turbos. My grandpa has 2 mint 82 Turbo Hondas and a 84 Yamaha 550 turbo. The turbos are tiny and would probably work excellent for your application.

What GT50 are you guys referring to, the only GT50 that i found on Garretts site was like a Big turbo, The smallest garrett makes is a GT12.

Jeezus Tom!! And you said you had an attention span! A GT50 would be HUGE if there was one. It is a GT10 you tool! :D

It may, probalby pretty laggy, but it might. Do you have any idea what you are getting in to though? What are you going to do for the exhaust manifold? Do you know how to use a turbo with a carb? I think you are getting in way over your head. Get you NA race one, then pick up a cheap 600cc bike for $1,500. Learn on that on the street, then get a nicer street bike in a year or 2.

I can agree with this, Fuel injection for one is so much more convenient then a carb with a turbo. It drives different.

Sweet! I wanna see pic's of the aftermath!! Carnage is always cool :D Just remember that the engine is sitting just below your nuts! It would be extremely unlucky for the piston to hit that small of a target though! Doh!!
