Kare 11 is having a street racing special tonight at 10pm. They did a short preview this morning and it looked like they had a 1g caught on tape. Just giving anyone intersted the heads up.

I was down on Uni last Friday and a lot of people were talking about all the stupid kids acting it up for KARE 11 on film. Apparently they were lining up to give interviews and proud to act like dumbshits in front of the camera. Racing four wide in their civics, parking brake induced spins, playing chicken. We were going to watch them all get busted but the cops were thick in that area and we didn't want to get lumped in with the idiots. Think of the hottest most policed racing spot off of 280, thats were they all were. Wonder how it ended?

yeah, I swear I saw and recorded like 5 ricers on foodsmart and also recorded a Helicopter heading towards 280 last saturday. I better not be seen on the News tonight!

People should learn to drive more respectably, that way people don't get pissed/annoyed and we could actualyl hangout w/o being harassed. I really bet if people started calming down while driving down there (especially the louder cars) the cops would ease off. With all the resident complaints I'm sure they get, they have to keep the preasure on.

That's why Places around Porky's are never being busted up. People there are more mature and actually DONT do dumb stuff all of the time......
Plus, there's way more nicer cars around there than around Foodsmart, HAHA. :D

Yeah, the street racing thing is lame, too many dumbasses mucking it up. I will be grabbing a spot down at Porky's once in a while though, the crowd there is pretty cool, and the rings are the best I've ever found.

Just saw the showcase on University Car Fanatics..

Doesn't look too good for future car enthusiasts on Uni anymore.
I wonder if those guys caught racing had a talk with the cops.

Here it is and it is pretty gay. They refer to ALL import owners as "Ricers." Pretty bad, but thats what the media does..

The really gay thing is that my gf's sisters boyfriend has a riced out two tone cavalier and her sister thinks I am the ricer (just because its an import), bahahaha but having the news call all import owners "ricers" doesnt help.

Lets come up with our own name for domestic guys that rice out their cars. Anyone have any ideas?

Wheaters. Thats funny the media refers to us/them/whatever as "ricers" since that can honestly be grouped in the same catagory as nigger, spick, chink, cracker, etc. It was originally used as a derogatory term before it became descriptive for a type of car owner.

OK, I just watched the video and they really didn't call anyone a ricer, just said the import crowd is referred to as ricers. Hmm oh well, it wasn't that bad of a segment, at least they realize most the people out at night aren't causing any problems. Just like anything else, its a few causing most the problems.

It wasn't that bad, pretty accurate for the most part IMO. At least they recognized that most people do things responsibily and thats its only a few wrecking it for all.

They didnt make the place look too bad, unlike that other station that made it look like the worst place to be at night, haha. I only watched half of it, have to leave for school soon. So far, it seemed like they were down at Porky's the whole time.
It is kinda funny how lots of people think all imports are ricers, though. Like those people at my school...funny thing is that none of them can beat my little 4 banger, heh heh..:D

what the hell? News media like that sucks. It makes us Imports look very bad from my view. But whos black Eclipse was that at the end of the show? Well, i still think Kare 11 did a good job on street racing, except that they have to see it in "ricers" way of seeing it...i think. But its all about behavior on the streets.

It didn't help that the guys giving the ridealongs were complete jackholes and spent more time bragging than actually being honest. Hmm, I should call Kare11 and offer to give a ridealong. You can't expect them to get it perfect from everyone's point of view though.

The segment was pretty good. They more or less reported on it, then trying to link it with unrelated car accidents, car theft rings or keep saying how bad it was. The only people who get upset over news stories like this are the ricers.

It was pretty accurate but what I dont understand is that they kind of showed the domestic guys as just having fun and hanging out. But they are doing burnouts in front of Porkys and thats ok? Cops dont seem to care about that and they go straight to were the imports are...

It would be nice if they showed both car groups doing the same stuff and not label imports as being the street racers and domestics just going to look at cool cars on Uni.

It was pretty accuarte, the only thing that pissed me off was at the end when the anchor woman was like "yeah, keep it on the track" or "keep it legal" or some BS like that. Not mentioning that to keep it legal you have to drive a million miles. :mad:

the last time they did a story like this it sucked as well. but at least some of the interviews were more funny.

From the sounds of it (havent watched it yet) it was pretty accurate, at least more accurate then the Stupid ass fox segments. I swear if fox makes another segment about street racing, im gonna setup a mass emailer and flood their system with emails.

I watched it. Why the hell would you want to be on the news about illegal street racing? Those people are dumb. But i like watching cars race as long as it wasn't mine car that was on the news, its all good.

Yeah right before she said that, the guy anchor said that there are also legal places to race in minnesota, goto kare11.com to find out where. He didn't mention that there are none close to the st paul/Minneapolis area.

That ending made it look like we have a choice to street race or keep it on the track. Like we can just go to the local track on fridays or saturday nights.

Finally watched the whole thing...I still dont like the whole "Imports are known as ricers" part though. Yeah, I like how those so called "American Muscle" cars were doing burnouts and all and the "Ricers" get kicked out first...heh heh.
If we could go to the tracks on Friday and Saturday nights, that'd be pretty cool. Less people doing dumb stuff on the streets and more fun for us at the tracks, haha. Too bad those people who argue against street racing also argue against a track being build near the cities to solve the problem...I like that.."You need to go race somewhere else, but I'm not gonna let you build a track." haha..:D.

For anyone that doesn't know the Ali Kohls the interviewed is ACRUCRAZY'S ex girlfrield I thought that was pretty cool she was on that sad she was driving a neon.

For those who take offense to the comparison between the Porky's crowd and the import crowd: Let's face it. The younger kids are typically the ones on the import side of University. Not as many teenagers have the $ to own a nice muscle car to bring out on the weekends. And the younger ones are the ones driving like fools. The segment hit the nail on the head.

Yeah, but did you see those "nice muscle cars" doing burnouts and taking off breaking theirs tires loose? It's not just the "import" side doing dumb stuff. They do more dumb stuff, but they arent the only ones. I also think it was a pretty good segment, ALOT better than the one last year. It was just that one little part that got to me (when I watched it). Now I dont really care at all...I laugh at it now. :D
