Dynoed my car before I broke it.
Things were looking good, until I tried to get my brain, hands and feet working together at Crap Falls. Boost was falling off a few psi throughout the runs. Seems like my 10psi wastegate spring can't quite handle much over 30psi.

Re: Dynoed my car before I broke it.
Holy crap!!! Those are some nice numbers. Those would get me back up and motivated to build it up again. Good luck and hope you get it back up soon.

Re: Dynoed my car before I broke it.
Awesome numbers!!! And yeah, what broke?
|
Re: Dynoed my car before I broke it.
Great numbers Shane! That HP curve is awesome too, almost flat from 5.5k to 8.5k. Very nice!

Awwww....such a shame. :-( This is one of the prime reasons that snowmobile racing on the asphalt died. Nobody wanted to share any information. None of the underdogs could compete with the 'big guys' so they said fuck it. Somebody asks me whats under the hood, i'd gladly tell them. It's what drives competition. If there is no competition why upgrade further? |
Re: Dynoed my car before I broke it.
Looks awesome, Shane!
Is it bad that I think my turbo is too small before I've even used it? :( |
Re: Dynoed my car before I broke it.
Nice dude. If you want me to come by sometime & teach you how to drive a stick, just give me a call! ;)
Seriously though, sorry for the bad day yesterday, that sucks man! |
Re: Dynoed my car before I broke it.

Damn! Awesome numbers Shane... too bad RF wasn't so good for you. :( Hope you get it back up and running for the summer yet.

Re: Dynoed my car before I broke it.
What he has isn't a secret... just way too much to type... Basically a 2.4 with absolutly everything you should do to support 700+ whp. Hopefully the damage isn't to extensive, and we can get him running again shortly...

Re: Dynoed my car before I broke it.
I overreved the car and sent parts flying. It's a 7-bolt 2.4, 272s, T4 turbo, big FMIC, sheetmetal intake, Q45 TB, AEM EMS, 950cc injectors(had to turn the fuel pressure up, because they were starting to max at 43 base fp), 2 walbro 255s intank, springs, retainers, Eagle rods, Wiseco pistons, etc. Nothing that special or that secret. The block isn't even overbored, just a $150 worth of machine work on the bottom end.
BTW, Mara gets first runs in the car when it's back together. |

Maybe you've already answered this, but are you planning on having the car back up and together this year?
|
Re: Dynoed my car before I broke it.

Better yet, definitely get the car back together so you can push aside Tapp's 707hp mark. :D

Re: Dynoed my car before I broke it.

Re: Dynoed my car before I broke it.
Shane- have you ever tried the Comp cams just for the hell of it? Forced performance sell what they name the FP2's. The grind seems really similar to 272's. Just wondering. Cams are my last thing to purchase. I just don't feel like dropping $600 on HKS if i can reach my goal with a set of Comps for $459. I don't care about HP numbers. I just want to reach an e.t. goal at the track of 11.99. I currently have a PTE 50trim, 780cc, Magnus manifold, 2g head stage 1 ported, DSMLink v2, Fidanza, etc..
|
Re: Dynoed my car before I broke it.
I have only had 272s and Web "Street Grind" on my car. Cher had the Comp Cam 101200s on his car and had some problems. I would have liked to have gotten some Crane cams for my car, but they cost quite a bit more than even the HKS cams.

Re: Dynoed my car before I broke it.
Very nice numbers Shane! BTW, in the name of research, what let go in the motor exactly?
|
Re: Dynoed my car before I broke it.
Nice figures shane! Sorry to hear about the car. How much time did you have behind the wheel before you went to the track?
Just wondering if maybe some seat time before track events might be in order. So you can get used to all the HP. If it wasn't for me driving my car everyday to work I know I would have had a hell of a time, launching my car correctly and getting a feel for the car. |

Expecially that fast a change in RPM, not many setups would ever handle that. Did the cam follwers come apart or just come off? Maybe it's time for the switch to Russ Cox mode instead of switching drivers, least then you still get the fun of all your labor.
|
Re: Dynoed my car before I broke it.
They came apart. I drove an auto DSM the other day. It wasn't too much fun.
|
Re: Dynoed my car before I broke it.
Ask Russ how many parts he still replaces even with an auto.
