Off the Evo boards:
************************************************** ****

I just got confirmation from Norwalk Raceway Park, we have a date
already for the 12th Annual DSM/EVO Shootout!

Mark your calendars, plan your vacations, you don't want to miss out
on this!

August 15th, 2004.

The DSM Shootout is something I started over 11 years ago just out of
love for the DSM's. It started out with 8 guys getting together and
we had our own staging lane for a night of grudge racing. The next
year we had the same thing, one lane just for the DSM's at the track,
16 cars. The next year it grew to 48 cars. From then we had to do an
actual track rental, it was getting to big. We use to rent the track
on Fridays during the day, then it got to big for that too. For the
last two years it has been so large we had to do a Sunday rental.

The Shootout is just a great time. People who have come for years
just can't wait for the next year. They plan their entire family
vacation around it.

This year, 11th Annual 2003, we invited the EVO's to come out. This
was basically a last minute thing and to my surprise we had over 20
EVO's there. Really nice to see some new blood.

My plans for this year are to offer two seperate classes for the
EVO's. One will be for anyone who is still running the stock turbo
the other for guys that have upgraded. There are also bracket classes
for guys that don't want to run heads-up.

Keep this in mind it truly is a great time. Al was there for the
first time and the enthusiasm he had was almost overwhelming, I think
that is why I like the guy so much!

Any comments, questions or words of wisdom are more than welcome.
Please ask or comment here so we can keep this close to the top for
all to see.

Thanks a lot.

So where are we staying this year? I'm ready to make some reservations!!!

Chris

AJ 12-02-2003 02:34 PM

Thanks for the update! I just booked at the Best Western in a Jacuzzi Room! We are leaving Thursday this year and staying till Mon morning again. I wonder why they moved it back a bit.

If needed the Best Western # is 419-663-3501

Jana 12-02-2003 02:45 PM

Sweet!!! I can't wait!! Last year was so much fun. Hopefully everyone going from MN will stay at the Best Western! It's definately the place to be!!

AJ 12-02-2003 02:47 PM

If you think your going book your rooms! The BW gets booked real quick! Then there is the Econolodge and a few others within walking distance.

At-Least-It's-An-Evo 12-02-2003 03:00 PM

Best Western is a better bang for the buck if you're going to be reserving rooms for the shootout. Econolodge, well... the name says it all.

Shane@DBPerformance 12-02-2003 03:58 PM

That sure is late this year. Guess it give me an extra month to not get my car running.

AJ 12-02-2003 04:03 PM

Shane we are gonna need a DSM Dyno Fest about a week or 2 before that if possible. Think You and Mo can hook a date up to get all the DSMs together for a day and see whos gonna be ready for the track!

JDM 12-02-2003 06:13 PM

Scooter Drag anyone??

Goat Blower 12-02-2003 06:33 PM

Wow, a month later, that's new. Maybe it'll be cooler than 90 degrees for a change. Hmm, a sticky track and cool air, could be good.

I think I'm more excited to build a scooter/minibike than get my car running for the shootout. Maybe I'll just leave my car at home and race Marco through the Econolodge parking lot all weekend.

Halon 12-02-2003 10:09 PM

man i wish i was living in MN again and could go with u guys. and all my dsm buddies here will be gone by then cuz they are all gettin outta the marines. one day ill go to one of these shootouts hopefully. btw, anyone know if nabr finished up their video they were making from last years shootout?

I'm still healing from last year!

JET 12-02-2003 10:30 PM

I think Craig and I are staying at the horsepower hotel (econolodge). The cops were pricks at the best western. Maybe I will make reservations at both places and see what happens :P

I don't believe so. I've been watching their website and have not seen any updates.

They weren't to bad. I saw the Econolodge. Yeah, I will pass. LOL I like being closer to Subway and Arbys anyway.

TheBlizzard 12-03-2003 12:38 AM

Yeah fuck that Best Western, they won't even let you drink outside that place at night. And if you do they take you to jail, what the hell.

Jet, remember too we might be staying at the track instead? That would be even cooler to go down in a camper and trailer and just stay at the track.

Otherwise the horsepower hotel would be my choice.

PSI2HI 12-03-2003 01:11 AM

Maybe i'll just sleep in my car @ wherever the parties happening ;)

Nick

niterydr 12-03-2003 03:09 AM

i'll probably come down if I have a tow rig buy then, and probably crash my cheap butt in that :).
'Our' event is in july in indianapolis, so i'll see if im up for nearly back to back roadtrips.

Kracka 12-03-2003 01:14 PM

Hmmm, maybe I'll go this year, anyone have some floor-space for rent?

Jana 12-03-2003 07:56 PM

I wouldn't stay at the Econolodge after seeing what it looked like last year. I'd rather sneek my beer out in another container if I want to drink outside than stay in that place. :razz2:

I can't wait for scooter races again!!!! :bounce:

Goat Blower 12-03-2003 08:01 PM

Get your scooters ready for the shootout. My chopper is going to kick some ass.

AJ 12-03-2003 11:39 PM

The shooters vs Old Man Hills Chopper vs a Custom QPR Go Cart!

Got Boost? :smoker:

JDM 12-04-2003 10:51 AM

I don't know if I still have video of it, but for those of you who missed out, both Nash and Joe (Just Rollin) took diggers off of the scooter last year. Joe was completely wasted, and did it twice.

For those of you who don't have credit cards, and wanna go, I booked 2 rooms at the BW, and would have room for 8, and have 3 spots filled...

List of things to bring:
PS2
Scooter
1st Aid kit (see above)
beer
money
beer
a car maybe? (see evo vs sti)
extra camera equipment in case Joe H decides to run shit over again
a self sealing cup for peeing so I don't dump piss all over Churr's car again
a roll of duct tape for Nash's FMIC

Jakey 12-04-2003 01:19 PM

Damnit I wish I could go but my internship brings with it basically zero time off unless it's for school related activities. Too bad the shootout is not school related..... :headache:

Everything's school related. It's all physics, and how a 4 cylinder engine works to push out over 600 in so many cars and all in one place. :dsmrule:

v8klla 12-04-2003 09:25 PM

Allen, what did BW quote you for rates? I got mine booked and they quoted $89 for Thursday, $129 for Friday, $139 for Saturday, and $79 for Sunday...

Chris

AJ 12-04-2003 09:46 PM

Our room rate ranges from 109 - 179 a night due to it being the hot tub room.

Chris

That sounds about what we paid last year. I believe my total hotel bill was around the $450 mark with taxes and such. Not bad.

Chris

Call back and tell them you have AAA. I saved about $50 total... Worth it to me...

BuildADSM 12-07-2003 03:18 PM

Even if you arn't a AAA member still tell them that.... it doesn't matter they won't check or anything.

take some good vids of the scooter races for me! and have fun!

Jana 12-07-2003 05:04 PM

I could be wrong, but you used to have to present an AAA card to get your discount.

BuildADSM 12-07-2003 09:30 PM

I know my rents did it one time and didn't have one... they never asked or anything and if all else fails tell they you left it at home.

JET 12-07-2003 09:40 PM

I confirmed it with my dad, we are staying in the motorhome at the track. If anyone else isn't bringing a car and wants to stay at the track, let me know. We have one bed open yet. It should be ~$100 for gas AND the room.

AJ 12-07-2003 09:45 PM

Good move Jet!

Kracka 12-11-2003 04:04 PM

Oh boy, one whole day of racing. He seems to oh snap it up more and more every year.

JET 12-11-2003 07:13 PM

Uhhh....it was one day last year too! Fri is the normal racing, Sat should be the Import nationals and Sun is the shootout.

JDM 12-11-2003 08:46 PM

There was nothing like seeing a Honda Accord run an honest et of 23.5... Yes thats right folks, a 23.5 at like 80 mph...

And you dont' need a helmet, and they serve alcohol at the track...

What a world

JET 12-11-2003 09:24 PM

Yeah, they had a full bar in the staging lanes. Well, it wasn't quite that bad, but I bet you could have went down the track with a beer in your hands! With no helmet for you or your passenger and still make an 11 sec run. It was pretty sweet!

TheBlizzard 12-13-2003 03:22 PM

Yeah no shit I couldn't believe it last year. They had no rules basically. There were four door cars pulling up with four people in them and racing. I was laughing my ass off. They didn't give a flying fuck if anybody had helmets. I they yelled at Jet once when he bracketed and he dialed in a 11.?? and he pulled without a helmet and the dude gave him some shit.

Definetly way layed back there, I can't wait until this coming year, and staying at the track. I hear it gets pretty crazy there at night.

1QUICK4 12-16-2003 07:22 PM

Does anyone want to rent out some floor space?

I am deffinatly going this year and need to make reservations if nobody wants to split a room.

JDM 01-03-2004 12:41 PM

Welll here's the deal....

I've got two spots left that I'd like to have filled

If I can get two more to share rooms, then it'll only be $100 or a little under per person for the whole trip for hotel.

I've got Myself, Joe H (JustROLLIN), Ryan (Racedguy), Joe K (2003Eclipse) and his girlfriend, and Brian (1QUICK4).

Any takers???

PM me
:woowoo:
