Auto show 05
Any of you been to the auto show yet this year.
I went last year and it was pretty sweet. Is it worth going this year? |
Re: Auto show 05
I hope to go sometime soon. I think someone should organize a meet-up at the show?

Re: Auto show 05
I went today and it was about the same as always. Mitsu realized their EVO isn't the end-all of the show and actually have it sitting on the floor unlocked (same with the STi). The only things I coulcn't sit in that I wanted too were the MazdaSpeed6 (platform) and the NSX (floor, but locked).
I also test-drove a few cars this weekend: Infiniti G35's are awsome cars and make my top 3 list and the Pontiac GTO...blah. |
Re: Auto show 05
Jana and I are heading out there tonight for sure.
|
Re: Auto show 05
There was a modeling contest going on in Auditorium A while we were there.

Re: Auto show 05
I went to the show yesterday. I must say it is nothing like The Chicago Auto Show that I have gone to the past two years in a row now. I saw Enes there yesterday just to let everyone know he is still alive. The 4th gen is there, check out the UV blue 3rd gen gts the color is unreal. The show is better then years past I recommend the MN auto show for once.

Re: Auto show 05
I am heading down there tomorrow with some guys from work.

Re: Auto show 05
The Mpls Auto Show is always a good time, but never anything too spectacular. I went on Sun. with Joe, JDM, and Laura. I would recommend going, but dont wet your pants waiting for it.

Re: Auto show 05
For anybody that has gone to this, did they have either the Saturn Sky or the Pontiac Solstice there? I might go check it out this week, but if I don't make it there, I'm not going to cry over it.
|
Re: Auto show 05
Yeah, they had both those cars there. Actually, the Saturn Sky looked pretty nice, but it's still a Saturn....you couldn't sit in it so I'm not sure what it was like.
It was pretty cool to be able to see all those cars in person and sit in them. At least for me, because I'd never go to Jaguar dealership and be able to sit in so many of their cars. They'd probably laugh at me :D |
Re: Auto show 05
My favorite car was the black jag. Near 400 supercharged hp, killer interior, removeable hardtop/convertable, just a fucking joy to sit in. I'd say it's well worth the 80k and would LOVE to drive one.
Otherwise I was a fan of the Saleen Stang on the top floor as well as some of those custom trucks! WOW there was some sweet off road shit there on the Trucks and Hummer. The trucks caught my eye ALOT more than the cars. |
Re: Auto show 05
Meh, trucks are lame. It's all about huge rims, bunch of LCDs, 6" lifts, and loud paintjobs. Not my cup of tea.
There were 3 supercars I was VERY pleased to see at the show however. I won't list them, as they'd be spoilers... but two were american, and one was german. :D |
Re: Auto show 05
I had fun walking around and sitting in the EVO and STi while talking about what a great winter-beater it would make. You should have seen the looks people were giving me, they were agasp and some where downright getting pissed.
|
Re: Auto show 05
I had fun calling a few people there fucking idiots and I am pretty sure some people heard me. First there was the 17 year old running through the Tibby gears like he was out running the cops. It was insane and hilarious at the same time. 2nd was the 16 year olds while I was lookoing at the SRT4 saying DAMN these are fast and for 20K you get AWD as well. Along with the other 2 comments he made Jana and I just had to laugh at this stupid fuck. And the best was when I was sitting in the EVO MR and the guy admiring the Brembo brakes starts talking shit saying it was tight they use the brembo brakes and his cousin must work with them since his cousin was the only importer of the brembos in the US. I was about to break down in tears.
As for the truck Dane, I agree they do more show shit with them but they are my cup of tea cause I wouldn't think twice about just beating the shit out of them and not worrying about the paint with the off road setup they had. |
Re: Auto show 05
Went on Saturday evening...sure was some nice cars. I couldn't believe how small the Lotus Elise was. Got a picture in the vette. That yellow porsche was NICE! Evo, Sti, blah blah...yeah I know I'd like one but still blah blah. The car that I liked most and can actually afford was the IG35 coupe (Pearl White?)...I can still see it in my head. I didn't really care for the cars...I was more into the Denali & Navigators:D...don't hate! Must get SUV:eek:

Re: Auto show 05
I test drove a G35 last Saturday and it was great; its on my top 3 list for sure.

Re: Auto show 05
Free passes for me courtesy of Lexus of Wayzata. Check out the new 2006 Lexus GS 330 AWD. I detailed 4 of them. :)

Re: Auto show 05
The show was boring. The highlight was looking at a Volvo S60 R AWD, black with pumpkin orange leather and a six-speed. Mmmm, sexy. So the 22-year salesman comes up and tells me I need this car, I tell him I've had several Volvos recently but not an R model. He tells me it's not a family car, it's a race car. Sure buddy, that 300bhp in a 4000lb car will really blur your vision. Then he tells me I can get a good price on the show model. I said, no thanks, I can buy that car in 3 months for $5000 under your best show price. He walked away confused. :D

Re: Auto show 05
I was SOOO drooling over the Elise! That thing is sweet as hell. I made me start rethinking the kit car thing! I was amazed at how tight of a fit the C6 was. It was almost as big of a bitch as getting in/out of Nash's car with a cage in it. I wasn't that impressed. I would definatley buy the Elise over the vette. The saturn Sky looked very nice as did the dodge show car.

I plan on going Saturday. I have yet to go to any car show, ever. I guess that sets the bar pretty low, huh? lol.
