HEY everybody, look at the NEW guy!
Well..erm... I am new? Anyway, My name is Anthony, Tony, Swifty, shitface..whatever works. I work as a mechanic at Saturn of BP. My friend has a dsm, and a buddy (korey) across the street at the bodyshop has 2 dsms..used to have 3. I know of most of this car's issues..the trannies are bad..the ecu capacitor issues..but, I still..for some damn reason..want one. I want a 1g 6/4 bolt. I only wish that I could keep HIDs, but I guess with this car, that's not an option. Anyway, I am obsessed with boost, yet I currently drive..erm.a honda. If anyone wants it, hit me up..lol I gotta find a dsm..I guess this is as good of an entrance as I can make..now, it's time to kick back, and play more gt4..ask any questions ya'll want..

Re: HEY everybody, look at the NEW guy!
Where? I just gotta sell my current car, and I'd soo be on one! I don't have 6 grand to spend...sadly. I don't even know how much of a loan I could get from the bank..any ideas? I can pay it, but pretty much say there is no co-sign at all. I want to get some money though, yet, I don't really have credit. So, what can I do? Is there any way that I could keep HIDs? Has anyone come out with those 94 headlights, but in projector style? Also, is it only 94 that has those fixed headlights, or what? I notice that some 92's have them too? I thought all the older style cars where pop-up lights..

Re: HEY everybody, look at the NEW guy!
'90-'91 DSMs were pop-ups, '92-'99 were the non-popups. I'd look around for an HID kit as you can find an HID kit for damn near every vehicle out there. I'm sure you can find something on eBay. I don't recall if HIDs have ever been discussed for 1Gs around here so you may be best searching on Tuners in the 'Non-Performance Mods (Interior/Exterior)' forum.

Re: HEY everybody, look at the NEW guy!
thanks all..I hope to get my dsm soon enough..in good condition anyways. How would you guys go about getting a loan fron the bank? We will say that I have no credit. I mean, I pay my celly bills, but that's nothing. I refuse to get a credit card, and frankly, I don't know how else I could get one. I tried a while ago to get 10 grand, but nope..not happening. Oh, I'd also prolly say that I don't have a co-signer either. I know for a fact, i can pay the bill..I mean, I don't have too much to pay for, so it would be easy!

Re: HEY everybody, look at the NEW guy!
Welcome!
I have a pretty solid DSM if you are looking. I think a ring just went though. Has a low mileage head on it. No rust. Hit me up with a PM if you want to know more. You can put HID's in the 92-94's. |
Re: HEY everybody, look at the NEW guy!
I got an 8k loan from my credit union with ZERO credit from my credit union. I just had to have atleast a 10% down payment. Why do you refuse to get a credit card? It's a nice way to build up your credit if you use it responsibly. Just put a couple tanks of gas on it a month, and pay it off at the end of the month. If you're looking for someone to co-sign you on here, I don't think it's going to happen. Plus you can find 1g's for cheap enough that you probably wouldn't even need a loan. and Welcome!!

Re: HEY everybody, look at the NEW guy!
no no no..not at all. I don't want anyone to co-sign for me, as that also rates on their credit. I just wanna know how I can get a loan. Frankly, after a few problems, I basically have no money..atleast not enough to buy a car with..I'd love to trade someone for my car, and there is already one guy I am meeting up with tomorrow to discuss that option, but without extra cash to also give away, I really dunno how well I am gonna be..

That is exactly what I do. I started last year and I already have good credit. Just make the payments ON TIME. |
Re: HEY everybody, look at the NEW guy!
Well, I should start then..what credit card do ya'll have? Good rates? That still doesn't help me in the immediate need for cash though..

Re: HEY everybody, look at the NEW guy!
I have a Visa through my bank. Have you even tried applying for a loan yet? Like I said, through my credit union, they approved me for 8k as long as I had 10% down. Go to your bank that you've been with, and see if they'll approve you as long as you have a down payment.
|
Re: HEY everybody, look at the NEW guy!
well, i got a visa debit card, but it doesn't work like the credit cards. I recently applied for a 10 grand loan..no suck luck. I wonder what all i could get a loan for. I'd hope they'd wanna go cheaper? I am sure that for a 92 tsi, there is no auto loan, so i'd hafta call it a personal loan..

Re: HEY everybody, look at the NEW guy!
I doubt that anyone is going to give you a loan to buy a 10+ year old car. Most people can afford them and they are not that great for collateral reasons as they tend to break easier than a new car. They are a higher risk to the loaner.
I started with the "college Visa" at wells fargo. ~1000 limit, ~13% (starting somehow). The limit is now $1500. I have a capital One platinum car (2k limit, 12.9 fixed APR), and I have a BBY card with a $600 limit. I get the damn things in the mail all the time now. |
Re: HEY everybody, look at the NEW guy!
A Visa debit card isn't going to do anything for your credit. But your bank should offer an actual credit card. Just get one, keep it in case of emergencies. Put a CD, or some gas on it, and pay it off at the end of the month. Do that every couple months and it'll help build your credit.
And about your 10k loan. I don't think any bank is just going to hand over 10k to some young buck with 0 credit. I don't know your income annually, but it'd prolly have to be pretty high for them to even consider it. When I went to my credit union, i told them I wanted to get a car loan. I didn't tell them how much the car was or anything, I just asked if I would even get approved for anything since I had no credit. So they did it up on their computer and said I would be approved for a max of 8k with 6% yearly interest. So I'd say just go to your bank, tell them you're looking to get a car, and will need a loan. And you want to know how much they'd approve you for, because you don't have a car or price decided on yet, just want to see the max they'd approve you for. See how much they will give you and go from there. If you can't find anyone to loan you the money, well then that's a bummer. That should just motivate you more to get some credit built up. I'm only 22 and I now have very good credit. I check my score twice a year. Things that have counted towards my score are loans, visa, military credit card, gordon jewlers cards, and a helzberg diamonds card. So hell if you wanted, go get your g/f a necklace as a gift from gordons and open a credit account. Pay it off in 2 months, and there's something that will help your credit out. Without credit it's hard man, gotta get started on that man!! |
Re: HEY everybody, look at the NEW guy!
Well, if the g/f and i where still together, and she didn't leave me for some other guy, i'd prolly do that...
Anywhos, if i asked about a loan, would i really wanna say it's for a car? Cause, then they will tell me to get an auto loan, and they won't give me one for a dsm of that age. So, how would i go about asking for a loan? just say hey..i want a loan..how much could i get on 0 credit? personal loan? When i asked for the personal loan for the 500whp integra, they never asked what it was for, though I woulda said special purpose vehicle..cause, it is. Then again , i think personal loans are harder to get, cause you really don't have collateral for em.. -A. Swift |

Re: HEY everybody, look at the NEW guy!
What Brandon (me612) was saying is, don't tell the bank what kind of car you are looking at...just go into to see what you'd be approved for.
As for not wanting credit cards, I can understand, but it's really the only way to build your credit. The best way it to open up 1 or 2, and only use them for things you know you can pay off at the end of each month. Just like it was stated already. |
Re: HEY everybody, look at the NEW guy!
You could always go and buy a few (yes I said only a few) tools from Snap-On, or Mac or Matco and pay them on time. Believe me, if you want to buy a DSM, you'll need tools.
I worked in a shop and went a little overboard on the Snap-On Truck, but I have kept up the payments and my credit score went from the toilet to near the top rack in only a short time. Oh BTW, welcome. If you know Korey, then you probably have heard about ProRally from him and Micah (old Snap-On guy). When you get your DSM you should come out and check out the rally's. It's fun as hell. |
Re: HEY everybody, look at the NEW guy!
Thanks..I actually just paid off the matco guy, the mac guy, and I only owe 20 bucks to the snap-on guy. I need a new tool box, and some more tools, as I work on cars..tools are needed. But, they where all truck accounts..not sure if that even helps with credit, as they where not credit accounts..
-A. Swift |
Re: HEY everybody, look at the NEW guy!
No. You have to do it through snap-on or mac or matco credit, not the truck accounts. You will end up paying interest but it's worth it in the end. As long as you don't go overboard.
BTW, I've got a Snap-on box for sale. It'll cost about as much as a very good 1g but it is very nice. It's in the classifieds forum if you're interested. |
