 this is just stupid. i've had the car for not even 5 days, and i've been pulled over twice. the first time was understandable... driving home from work and my headlights didn't work (both bulbs were burnt out), nice cop, let me follow him all the way to my house to make sure i got home safely. then tonight i was driving up in anoka from the SA on main st to my friends house and this jackass of a cop pulls me over for no reason. says i don't have a front license plate, i just bought the car 4 days ago and he expects me to have a front license plate when the old owner didn't give me one?? then he gets me on no proof of insurance, I JUST bought the car! how can i have proof of insurance? it wasn't even that he gave me the citation, he was a complete dick about it. sorry, i had to vent.. asshole of a cop.
Even if you had gotten a ticket you could of argued your way out of it in no time.
Just remember that you can contest any ticket that you get. All you need is the proper documentation and all charges would be dropped.
I realize you didn't get a citation this time, but just remember that in the future. You can go to the courthouse and show them proof of insurance (transferred from your old car to your new car), proof of registering for license plates, etc. Remember, you are not guilty until you either admit or your are found guilty by a judge. |
no he did give me the citation.. i'm going to court to argue against it. its ri-god-damn-diculus that i have to waste my time to go argue about something so stupid.
true it does suck that you have to go in and show it all, but it beats not showin up and paying for it. i got pulled for speeding, the guy was nice about it but i had an expired license and no proof of insurance, he just told me that id have to pay the ticket but that i could get all the rest docked off if i went to the court. i pinch pennies so it didnt bother me.

I got pulled over for a semaphore (whatever the hell that was), but it was for running a red light. Isnt it still legal to go when the light is still orange? She said that I turned on a No-Turn on Red, then I went back to check it out and there wasnt one sign up on any of those corners. She was a B**** about it also. I was being really nice too and she just had to be an A**. I'm gonna have to call to take her to court. Do you guys think I'll win? The judge will most likely listen to the cop more just because she's the "COP," if I dont win, I'm gonna atleast be nice about it and see if I can get it off my record. I remembered her squad car number, so if I do lose, she's going to pay for just being so damn mean. I was pretty angry at the time and I really wanted to trash her car...haha.
You would be amazed at how many things you can get off of paying. With my integra I had last year, I got 7 tickets for stupid things and didn't have to pay for any of them. They were things like front plate, altered tail lights, for sale sign... In the talon, I got pulled over and got a fix-it ticket for my parking lights not working that I didn't have to pay a fine on, and I got a front plate ticket that I got out of. With the front plate ticket, I said when I got new plates, the person from AAA told me I didn't need to put a front plate on since my car didn't come with one or have a spot for one. He said " you were badly misinformed there. You can get off without one if it has collectors plates bot the car isn't old enough." He let me off.

You're kinda lucky there. I hope Maplewood cops will be that easy on me, cause the female cop that pulled me over didnt really care if I took her to court. She said that they get paid time and a half for just going....I hope she doesnt show up. This if my first ticket ever too...so I'm gonna try really hard to get out of it.

Anoka cops = Dicks. I was in Anoka tonight, had fun I beat a Ford Focus, that was picking on a 1G N/T Eclipse and then beat a GTP easy kills. Total races tonight=7 on the way home lost one but that was a bike. :3gears: I was in Rogers trying to show my girl to drive a stick got pulled over, thay dident even ask to see lic or ins, just wanted to know why the car was bucking. :rally:
That sounds like a reasonable excuse to pull you over tho... I'm sure it appeared as if someone was drunk behind the wheel.
A Ticket is actually by definition a "SUMMONS". You can chose to plead guilty by paying a fine, and avoiding trial. In your miranda rights, you ALWAYS have a right to a trial and court appointed attorney if you are arrested. Go to court, you will win.
Damn I am glad you people were occupying the cops tonight, I had a couple 130mph passes on 94 tonight. One Mustang GT (waste of time) and a Integra (even more of a waste of time). Fuck the cops. Except JDM.lol
CRAIG |
I got a ticket for no plate lights on the back. cops just pull over cars they wish they had.
hahaha...I like that one. But I always see the crappy cars get pulled over on Friday and Saturday nights.

Looking for drunks. I have got two tickets with the GVR4, one no proof of insurance, and one for tint. I just faxed in my proof of insurance and that one got dropped. For the tint ticket I peeled the tint off the front windows and took some pics on the digital cam and brought them into the hearing officer, she was nice and dropped it. So remember, innocent until proven guilty, and make them prove it. The cops are out to get you, but the people at the court house typically aren’t.

Well I just learned this but as part of buying a new used car you have insurance for the first 30 days you have it but you should get your insurance to cover it soon for :bs: reason like sway got pulled over for.

Take the written test again ($18.50) DID THAT Apply for a new license and take a new picture ($21.50). DID THAT Send in proof of insurance on a vehicle you own. ($5000) not really worth it. So basically I have the choice of not driving. I could pay the $5000 which is what I have left to pay on my 2G. Then I could pay for liability only insurance which still screws me. All in all, be very careful, and never do a plea bargain where it will put a No Proof on your record. |
I'm not sure, but it would be logical that the 30 day rule only applies if you have insurance on a car already and you buy another one. I know when I've bought cars using a loan they ask for "proof of insurance" (on another car) and then you have 30 days to get the new car insurred.

As per your other post- the yearly premium would be $5000, because a NO PROOF is considered as bad as a DWI. at least in insurance terms. THe only way it would be cheaper is if I paid it off so I could put liability on it. ------------------------------------------------------------ So anyways, Sway, be careful they always pick on the people that are doing it the right way. |
I still don't understand what the problem is. I've had modded DSM's since 1997 and I've never been pulled over, despite have a loud exhaust and no front license plate.

Wait a NO PROOF is as bad as a DWI in terms of insurance rate hikes? Shit.
I've been pulled over for a loud exhaust in my beater car. In the conquest, I've been followed for a while but they have never done anything, and that thing has a 3" straight-pipe into a muffler. I didn't drive it that much though. |
I've had no problem in the 2 years I owned my 98 GSX (red). I had it modded at one point.
It's all in how you drive. And you should know that you need insurance, or proof of insurance immediately. Yeah, you can fax it in to avoid the ticket, but I always have my insurance agent fax me/email me proof right away so i can carry it. Anyway, I'm tired of ppl bitching about tickets that are their own fault, or at least they should know to fix ASAP. |
No shit its all in the way you drive. i had done nothing wrong, used blinkers and the whole nine yards, he only followed me around a corner before turning his lights on, so it had nothing to do with how I was driving. the point is, the cop was a dick, and treated me like i was scum.
How about driving in the right place at the wrong time, like try driving down around red rock on a friday night, driving a dsm cops look at you like you are a big donut hot out the oven. ;)
Why were you pulled over? Unless you have a whiskey plate or aren't wearing your seatbelt, they don't pull you over for the hell of it.
I thought legally they cant pull you over unless there is something wrong.. bulbs out, swerving, speeding ect. They have to have a reason to pull over I thought.
his reason was no front license plate...
Did he do a U-turn? Im assuming he had to or else he couldnt have seen your plate.
no.. he was parked on the side of the road and i drove past him.
ha its funny how you will get follwed around in a fast car but they wont even bother if your drivng a conversion van.
