|
John = no 10sec but managed to break a 4bolt rear axel
Ecoli= Cracked the welds on intercooler (it looked like it was spinning in 2nd gear, easy) |
Sounds just wonderful. :uh:
|
Wonderful.. I just finished installing my 4 bolt :(

I ran my personal best of 12.772 at 108.57 with a 1.795 60 foot. :bounce:
I was so happy. I was having problems hooking up and hitting third all day, but that one run, when I did, it was awesome. Saw some cool shit too, had a geat day. Plus I got to vent some pent up road rage on a "upside down visor wearing wannabe ricer" in a Buick. It was fun. |
I ran a 13.95@ 104.96 with a 2.686 60 foot. fucking FWD time for some slicks!
|
The road rage thing was entertaining. John had some fun messing with him as well. Brian ran the best times I have ever seen out of him and Ryan also ran decent times, they can share the numbers. Nothing in the 11's out of them, but both in the 12's. Rock was actually decent today for traction, there was a few cars in the 8's as well as a mid 7 second rail. Pretty decent for a change.
|
hehehe I ran last year a 13.4@111mph....yes fucking fwd....I need slicks too we should go in on a pair together...hmm??
Kevin |
Well I also ran a 12.772, like Matt. But I was only at 108.47 MPH. With a 1.844 60'. Must have just hit 3rd a bit better than Matt's tranny would let him. $50 14B @ 15psi ownzz. Those of you that know, know how I got that time, and just need to know I kicked it up a notch to get that time. :3gears: :woowoo:

Hey, did anyone go to Rock Falls Saturday?
My cousin ran his blue race civic and I'm just wondering what time he hit. His last Rock Falls time was somewhere around 15 seconds at 138 mph...the staging lights screwed him over and then he lost a pulley. When's the next Rock Falls? I'm planning on running my car again...wasnt too happy with my other times!!! |
It looks like the axel had somthing wrong with it from the start, it broke down where it bolts onto the hub, and it was a clean flat brake, I will get pics up tomorrow.
~John |
John did you get a clean run in before the break?
Congrats matt and ryan (and brian) now you guys have all et'd faster than me :(. |

Im slowly on my way ;) huh Im surprised Carls car only trapped at 108? Isnt that really low for what that car should be trapping despite crappy 60 foots? |
Well to start things off I thought I blew my head gasket on the way up there when Carltalon and I were playing on the back roads on the way there. I was having some missfireing and some pretty bad counts of knock.
Cause when I was in the line to pay to get in. The lady noticed I was dumping coolant onto the ground. And sure enough my overflow tank was full and pushing a good amount on the ground. So I just got a spectators pass and told her that I want to see what happens when I let the car cool down. Long story short I do have some bubbling in my coolant, but all day, and the entire way home my temps never really got above 196. (most of the time it was at 179-183) So who knows. But Mike ended up talking me into racing. Since after letting it idle for 5-10 minutes and then letting it cool down twice nothing was happening with the coolant so off I went. I started off with the boost turned down to 18psi and I'm running 92 oct, and doing what I said I'd do just ease off the line and then get on it once the clutch was out and then easy shift. just to see what would happen with the coolant and temps after a run. (ie: didn't want to get kicked out or make a mess on the track, etc) 1st Run: R/T - .068 60' - 2.718 330 - 6.561 1/8th - 9.408 mph89.87 1000 - 11.775 1/4 - 13.776 mph - 110.60mph After checking the overfloor and the loggs the coolant level was the same, and my temps were still 189 at the end of the run. But I was having 3.2 counts of knock, and the car was missing pretty good going down the track. So John L. - gave me a set of NGK's that looked like they had about 20 miles on them. So Next run. Basically everyone there was telling me to just stutterbox the launch, etc. So when the time came I said what the hell. 2nd Run: Still 18psi - dumped the clutch (very minimal slippage if any), no knock from 1-3rd gear, but 4th I got 2.1 counts of knock and started missing again. R/T - .560 60' - 1.821 330 - 5.214 1.8 - 7.930 mph - 94.17 1000 - 10.203 1/4 - 12.173 mph - 113.35 3rd Run: was going to turn the boost up but originally they said I couldn't get any more runs in till brackets. But another official walked over and said it was alright. But they were waiting for me up at the lights so I had no time to do anything. and this was basically a back to back run. with no cool down. Stutter box launch - but slipped the clutch and got wheel spin through all of 1st this run had over 2 counts of knock in all of the gears. R/T - .699 60' - 1.837 330 - 5.296 1/8 - 8.086 mph 92.09 1000 - 10.399 1/4 - 12.419 mph - 115.35 4th Run - was brackets - loaded my 403whp settings just to see if that was the issue and turned up the boost to 20psi But in a 12.0 dial in. Announcer made fun of me while I was at the line. Long story short the guy next to me broke so I backed off the gas and went 14.4@66mph, R/T was .016 so almost perfect. and 60' was 1.849 so would have been a good run. 5th run after hearing what the announcer said - I had Joe put on my back window. Daily Driven and running Pump Gas. Still had the 12.0 Dial in. This run I'm suprised I didn't blow my motor. I had 6.7 counts of knock by the time I hit 4th gear. But I was watching the car next to me instead of watching my gauges/laptop. I ended up Short shifting 2 gears (shifted at 6800in 2nd, and 7200 in 3rd, instead of 8,000rpms) R/T - .109 60' - 1.890 330 - 5.279 1/8 - 7.985 mph - 93.34 1000 - 10.250 1/4 - 12.208 mph - 115.78 This was my last run of the day figured I was lucky enough that my motor didn't blow so I called it quites while I was ahead and went home. Car made it home with no problems. - So today I'm going to try new spark plugs, and since I have to fill up again, I'll see if it was just a cause of bad gas, or what? But anyrate. I was very happy with my times, especially considering only running 18psi, 92 oct, and having misfiring issues all day. Even the 12.1 run had some misfiring in top of 3rd and all of 4th. So anyrate I'm very happy with the way things turned out. Car made it the track, and made it home in 1 peice. Can't ask for anything better then that. |
And thanks to everyone who Ran my Camcorder while I raced. I really appreciate it. It my first video of the car with all the new stuff on it.
And John. I didn't realize that you went 11.9@120mph on your first run. When you still had your pumpgas file loaded into your AEM. With all that popping, etc the entire way down the track. That's still bad ass IMO. and shane I think you still went like 13.4@40-60mph blowing your intercooler again that's still awesome. considering the time, etc. And after listening to the Video. Mara was definetely right about how much quieter my car is going down the track compared to everyone else's. I couldn't even hear my car at the line, or until it went by the stands where the camera was. |
yes you can... you can ask it to do that few more times and a year or two more ;)
-E |
If I remember correctly, Shane ran a 13.10 at 64 when he limped across the line.
|
No clean run for me, I dont know why but the boost was only like 29, and making little to no power with a 120mph trap, then with the race gas settings it ran slower at 112?wtf?. Anyways the last pass I took the boost controller off, and tried a stutter launch(10psi 5500rpm), and broke my rear axel(pics soon).

Nice runs everyone.
Brian- what did the announcer make fun of you for? |

these aren't quotes but will give the general idea of what was said. I'm sure the guys who actually heard can probably tell you exactly what he said. I only reviewed the tape once and the video was cut off during some of what the announcer was saying. Things like: 12.0 - He must have a pretty optomistic personality to put up that time. Fallowed by a comment about High Hopes for a Street driven car. And then something else. Hense why I had Joe put - Daily Driven, running Pump Gas. (originally we'd put Bitch after that) but I thought that would be to rude so I wipped it off. I wanted it put on there cause that guy was ripping on imports all day long. And with the comments I'd got, even though I'd already run my 12.1 and 12.4 back to back. I was like what the hell. So that run I was lined up against a Tubbed/Tined/Caged/Race Gas Domestic that went 12.0 to my 12.2 The domestic went: R/T - .088 60' - 1.719 330 - 4.937 1/8 - 7.635 mph - 91.17 1000 - 9.970 1/4 - 12.010 mph - 103.48 To my: R/T - .109 60' - 1.890 330 - 5.279 1/8 - 7.985 mph - 93.34 1000 - 10.250 1/4 - 12.2 mph - 115.78 |
is that a promise??? about the slicks??? i can get the axles....
|
Congrats to those that got some times they where happy with. Matt R those are some nice number for a motor that hates oil. And damn close to an 11 Brian. That kicks ass!
Wish I could have been there, but I was out of town this weekend. FUN TIMES! |
Well maybe next time. I'll get that 11. It was my first time at the track with the GSX, my First time using the Stutter box with this set up, and there was some pretty big issues with tuning. So hopefully next time I get the oportunity to go to the tracks. The car will be running better.
|
No problem filming with the camera Brian. The part I may have cutoff was the run where he was going on and on about how you were "Brian Barton from Burnsville Minnesota..." Thats a lot of "B's"!
I thought it was kinda funny when the Honda guy broke on the line and the annoucer was saying "...Mom, yeah this is Timmy, I broke your car, can you come pick me up, yeah Mom I'm at Rockfalls Raceway...Don't tell Dad..." The announcer is a tard, who cares, he thinks every civic hatch is a crx. :bounce: Good job Brian, Matt, and Ryan on new personal best ETs. Jim |
Definete Good Job to everyone.
And CarlTalon's car is quite capable of keeping up with me when we were playing on the way there. So his numbers are way off from what the cars capable of. But then again it a FWD DSM thing. Can put down all the numbers you want. But at the Tracks we just can't seem to get the times to go along with them. |
Sounds like decent traction on sunday, really wanted to go!
Fun day they usually prep it a bit better. I was driving for 16 hrs straight yesterday... now have a 750 turbo in the back of the dakota! WOOT! |

Nice times Barton, it's about time. And get used the the stupid announcers there. I've been getting those comments for 5 years now. They always act all surprised when a stock looking DSM wastes a drag-only domestic.
Guess I better get off my dead ass. There's no way in hell Barton's going to have a better time than mine. Doh. |
HAHAHA :stick:
I'm using DSMLINK - so for every 1 count of knock it pulls 1 degree of timing. When we dyo'd I had "0" counts for most of it. and then 1 blip of 1.7 in the middle. Typically I don't mind 1.7 counts (nothing but when I'm getting constant 3.2+) counts for almost the entire run something was definetely going on. And after review previous logs my knock counts has been this bad ever since I went from Race Gas Back down to pump gas. Cause the first log with that amount of knock is from when I switched back over. Not sure what's up? I know my Coolant temps are way different from when we dyno'd. I tuned the car with Coolant temps of 206 on up to 216 at the end of the Pull. Where as now I start at 176-and by the end of the run I'm at 186. But I'll want to add. I didn't get these coolant numbers till the whole oil pump thing where I finally switched thermostats. So I had a good week of logs where the knock was still pressant before we switched to the welded Oil Return, Dump Tube Routed back in, And the non-welded Visc swapped out. I'm lost as to why I have knock. But tonight while Jenny's at work I'm going to do a compression Test, Put in some New NGK's if I can find some, and also Fill the car back up with different gas. Hopefully that'll solve/reveal the problem. Anyrate had a great time and for the first time I went to the track and got back with only 1 scare, and so far no problems to the car. (haven't had that happen since my first year of Racing) So it was a very good feeling when I pulled into the garage last night. |
i was there it was a blast saw all your cars. but no one standing next to them....
who had the galant vr-4 was that guy with u. i saw some damn good times love the muscle car guys reaction when i was yelling as you guys flew by. love racing on a fun days, the old guys hate to see an import beat them!!!! |
Ok Some people had asked me what PSI I was seeing when I launched and I just reviewed the logs of my runs.
and typically speaking it's based of how well I worked the clutch. I can see if I slipped the clutch to much, etc. But at the launch I'm seeing 17.5lbs/min with the stutterbox set at 5750rpms. On my best run 12.1 - I let the clutch out very quickly and the lbs/min never dropped they just kept climbing. on every other run where I slipped the clutch my lbs/min went down the worste being my last run of the day 12.2, where it went from 17lbs/min down to 8.2lbs/min |
That would be me. Ran a best of 12.772 @ 108.47 MPH
|
Some of you guys should have come on down to Ceder falls on sat, the track was sweet and I got almost 15 runs in back to back I had to take a break!just in the day! I did not stay untill the night racing but some others did and said it just got better!
Good times, some time we got to get a big group down there and have some fun. ;) |
Gratz guys! Especially you Brian, it is good to see you finally get some #'s to go along with all of the work you have put into it. Seeing this makes me want to get my car done! I have 2 customer cars that need work first though. Hopefully I can start on it after labor day.
|
Awesome times everyone! Sounds like it was a good day there for the most part :D
