Should be schedule a fall cruise / poker run sometime this fall? Pretty self explanatory, start mid/late morning at one location and basically drive all over MN in more rural areas stopping in small towns and driving the fun country roads. Stopping somewhere to eat and end up back in the cities in the evening.

Vote for the next week or so and I will see what the results are.

LightningGSX 08-24-2004 06:01 PM

We would need several trailers/tow trucks following everyone around, otherwise there would be broken DSMs scattered all over MN.

unreal808 08-24-2004 06:13 PM

My laser never brakes down, I'll bring a tow rope.

SuperSleeper 08-24-2004 06:21 PM

It would be wonderful to have the van running for this. ;)

joem 08-24-2004 08:20 PM

Maybe one more dyno day. My cars running now, and can be in front drive in less then a min.

Matt D. 08-24-2004 10:52 PM

I dig it. A rural cruise would be fun, especially in the fall.

MATCHBX 08-24-2004 11:15 PM

We're all for it. Let use some of the dirt roads too!!!!

As the sticker says on the back of Terina's car "Pavement is for sissies!"

JustROLLIN 08-25-2004 12:00 AM

I'd be down for a nice fall drive. Count me in!

DSMPARTSGURU 08-25-2004 07:03 AM

ill bring the honorary brookdale mitsubishi support truck aka my lightning !!!!

AJ 08-25-2004 10:24 AM

Yeah I think it would be a good idea to get some trucks out there. I may have mine going by then incase it's needed.

So far people seem interested. I am not doing another dyno day this year. Maybe next year.

If you voted yes cool, but please post and say yes you would actually go and not just vote on the idea.

Also post any major event weekends to plan around that you know of.

Enes 08-25-2004 10:38 AM

i supose i could throw the dsm on the trailer and tow it around :(

JDM 08-25-2004 06:22 PM

I'd be down, but I'd have a 3g...

Are we gonna have a bonfire again this year?? I think we should!

AJ 08-25-2004 07:35 PM

This would be open to EVERY member of DSMStyle.com and you can invite others.

IneedaGSX 08-26-2004 11:34 AM

Yea I am up for it. Don't have a Dsm yeat though.

joem 08-26-2004 11:04 PM

Im down for it all.
joe

Emcee gsxtc 08-29-2004 03:49 PM

I will, I just hope I can do it in a dsm instead of the srt4. Lets get it done.

520Talon 08-30-2004 12:14 AM

I put in a yes. I would run the Talon if someone wants to volunteer some street tires. Otherwise I have a van, tow strap and lots of experience on both ends of the rope.

Matt D. 08-30-2004 12:47 AM

I'd also be willing to help in making a route. I think it would be fun to skip through Mankato, Owatonna and Rochester, and all of the little places in between here and there.

Hell yeah! Then everyone in Owatonna can see what running dsms look like. That would be cool though to go through a lot of smaller towns.

EXACTLY!

Jana 08-30-2004 07:06 PM

AJ and I will try and get a route set up and drive it within the next week or two. If anyone has suggestions as to where it should be (north of the cites vs. south of the cities) please post up.

520Talon 08-30-2004 11:33 PM

The area around Hastings on the Wisconsin side has some cool roads. I have run the Volksport fall tour over there and it is a blast. Lots of fun roads with alot of elevation and curves. You will see a lot of marque car clubs run that area.

There is a back road it is goes from Mankato State to Waseca and it reconnects with HWY 14. It is an awesome road and a lot less crowded than regualr HWY 14. We would miss some small towns like Janesville and Eagle Lake but it is a fun road.

Also it would probably be a good idea if we all had Motorola Talkabouts or similiar radios for communications. These are always fun and make the trip more, um, memorable.

We should make sure we drive by some of the colleges, their a whole new batch of hotties arriving at colleges around the state. As Matthew McConaughey said in DAzed and Confused, "As I get older, High School chicks stay the saaaaaaame age."

IneedaGSX 09-05-2004 10:06 PM

Hey when is this event going to happen if it does date wise?

tpunx99GSX 09-10-2004 04:47 PM

IneedaGSX 09-10-2004 08:37 PM

JDM 09-13-2004 11:46 PM

If you happen to pass through Preston, my parents will cook for us.

520Talon 09-15-2004 01:20 AM

What about we just all show up for an event like this?

This Monte Carlo style event is being run in conjunction with the 2004
Oktoberally. Great roads, brisk speeds. If you enjoy driving twisty
all-paved back roads with lots of elevation changes, you'll love this
event.

For those not familiar with a Monte Carlo style rally, we provide the
leg time plus the leg mileage in tenths of a mile.

The Oktoberally Express
Saturday, September 18th, 2004

An easy all-paved Monte Carlo style rally using the excellent sports car
roads running through Wisconsin's ultra-scenic coulee country.

The easy to follow written instructions and timing at its most
straightforward make this an excellent choice for those new to rallying
while the roads are guaranteed to keep the most experienced ralliests
entertained. Run it as a timed event or just ignore the timing and drive
it as one of the best tours that you've driven. We guarantee that you'll
see roads that you never dreamed existed in the Upper Midwest.

I am pretty sure that it will be almost the same roads as used in the Volksport Fall Tour. AKA 'the sweet tour'

Emcee gsxtc 09-15-2004 12:22 PM
