I wonder if carey is using my tranny to get back... I wonder what he ran.

JustROLLIN 08-16-2004 12:04 AM

They wont be back until tomorrow. The SO was today, so I am sure they stayed the night versus leaving at 4pm to get home at ~4am.

ACRucrazy 08-16-2004 12:29 AM

Been wondering my self.

he is not using your tranny and he got some interesting times.... he seems to have had problems with his manifold.

niterydr 08-16-2004 09:20 AM

imagine that, the pos manifold fell apart..again :(. Well I hope he made it down there alright and atleast made 1 good pass. Hopefully he makes it back okay as well.

SlowWhite 08-16-2004 09:34 AM

He towed his car didn't he?

SlowWhite 08-16-2004 09:49 AM

SlowWhite 08-16-2004 11:10 AM

Word is it was just a Nitrous back fire and he had the car up and running later that day. or something.

Originally I thougth it was shep. but I guess he was at another race since he's going for the championship in his class.

Pushit2.0 08-16-2004 11:15 AM

Shep also has a maroon 1g, not black. But I hope everyone that went had fun and ran some good times as well.

The Shootout was interesting. That car was one of the quick 16, and had a nitrous backfire. There were some very very clean cars. Me, Joe, and CVD went to the shootout on our own with no DSM which made me feel kinda stupid because w/o a DSM there, it's just like "hey, we have DSMs too!", but have no proof :( Other than that, Marco's (from Magnus Motorsports) rear end popped off his car on his last run and bounced like a rubber band about 8 feet in the air and it was very interesting because it was right at the finish line and we happen to be standing right there, no video or pictures though guys, sorry. I think they may have had an in car camera and were watching it as it happened becuase I was walking by and one of them said "damn, that sounds so bad when you hear it thumping around" and they were watchign a camera. Other than that, I can't think of any other things really interesting that happened for now.

Found a website with some pictures already hosted.

So nobody local raced?

At-Least-It's-An-Evo 08-16-2004 11:57 AM

Only Chris Carey, Bryan(sp?) (1Quick4), and some Moorhead guys. Both Moorhead guys broke drivetrain parts (tranny and driveshaft). Bryan represented MN with his bone stock 1g gettin a best of 13.1 I believe. Congrats man!

SlowWhite 08-16-2004 01:21 PM

Carey's manifold cracked in a completely different place this time, not where mike re-welded it. His best was 13.4 @ 108 without boost holding at all. He had one good run that got fucked up when he hit 3rd gear. There was oil on the track and his car went sideways going into 3rd so he had to quit that run. Hes on his way back with his original tranny

Thanks man, The shootout frickin rocks. I got some good video of Marco's Runs and pretty much all the quick 16. Also got that black 1G that caught on fire on tape. Turned off the camera right before he blew up but got a good shot of it smoking.

Just wish I was able to tape my own runs  If anyone got one on tape let me know

Also taped a few of you moorhead guys runs. Including the one where your VC goes bouncing down the track from under your car.

fievel 08-16-2004 10:08 PM

that would be cool to see some videos.

Here are the pictures from the Upstate NY DSM Group I belong to.

Goat Blower 08-19-2004 02:11 PM

Jeff Elliot is the one with the 1G that had the nitrous backfire. He was Extreme's bitch a few years ago, I think he's unsponsored now. That blue RWD belongs to Bruce Kwartler and used to be Buschur's yellow car. A few guys from Michigan are building another RWD 1G, they brought it on a trailer to display throughout the weekend. They've spent thousands of hours just to get it to the rolling stage, so I hope you've got lots of time and money if you want to make one for yourself.

I spent the weekend working on my car due to problems, but it was still a blast.

There is an in-car video of the Marco pumpkin bouncing run, but I don't think it's available for distribution yet. Check the Magnus site, it'll be there soon if not already. Marco's commentary is funny as always.

Goat Blower 08-19-2004 02:23 PM

Here's Marco's rear end after it bounced down the track at 100+ mph.

Pushit2.0 08-19-2004 02:30 PM

The 2g rear end is not as solidly mounted as the 1g thats for sure.

SlowWhite 08-19-2004 02:37 PM

is that a good thing or a bad thing?

A//// Guy 08-19-2004 02:53 PM

Probably bad.... :uh:

SlowWhite 08-19-2004 02:56 PM

Wondering if anyone is making anything to stiffen it up?

Goat Blower 08-19-2004 05:32 PM

Marco's going to fab up a tubular crossmember setup like he's got in the front. I've seen mention of it for a 1G, and the price was not cheap.
