Ok i bought a wideband command now i need to tap for an RPM signal, ti says to tap the switch wire on the ignition??/

Well anyways, what is the best place to tap to get this?

thanks

LightningGSX 08-05-2004 05:24 PM

Cam angle sensor

Pics? =(

I'm a tard.

Btw anyone here installed a maft before?

I see you have that gay ass 1995 shit going. On the firewall side of the timing cover, there are 2 harnesses coming out of the timing cover, an upper and a lower. The upper one should be the cam signal.I'll have to look around to find the wire color.

LightningGSX 08-05-2004 06:15 PM

I suppose you could hook it to the tachometer wire also, but depending on the input impedance of your wideband commander, it may not work. And I suppose if you can adjust the RPM input on the commander, you could just hook it to one of the coil trigger wires on the power transistor, but since we have waste spark setups, that will only be half the RPM signal, so unless you can set the commander for 2 cylinders it won't work..

I'll do it to the cam signal I guess, I know eactly what connector you are talking about, my electrical service manual shoudl tell me which wire it is right?

Would it work to grab the uncommon wire on the injector harnesses? We use that a lot for tach reference on remote starts. I used the cam angle sensor just because I wasn't sure, but on a 95, if it works, the injector harness would be easier.

Khadgar, what I mean by "uncommon" wire is that there are two wires in the harnesses that plug into the injectors. One is the same on all of them, and one will be a different color on all of them. The "uncommon" one is the tach reference. Like I said I am sure it works for remote starters and such, but am unsure for any other application.

Good luck.

I'll just grab the CAS, I dont want to fuck with my injector harness more than i have :fworld:

I hate cars.

Khadgar 08-05-2004 10:10 PM

I give up guys, I just fucking H-A-T-E this car. Just.. UGH

GOD DAMN IT WEHRE ARE YM DOWNPIPE NUTS...

**stamps back out to garage to try again**

Geez, drink a couple beers or something.Whats the problem?

I wouldn't recommend the injector for something like this, remote starter tach inputs are usually high impedance and heavily filtered.Who knows if that is the case with the unit he is installing, wouldn't want the injector to stay open.

I am indeed tapping the CAS

I want to tap it and run a long wire over to the passenger side then split it off to go to my wideband and my MAFT

Will this work?

I assume it's probably the blue wire and not the red or black ones?

I believe so, but I don't really remember.

Khadgar 08-06-2004 12:57 AM

Ok, how do you use those little red plastic tap thingys?

Khadgar 08-06-2004 01:00 AM

Oh yeah, and whats a good place for power in the engine bay, for for maft

You don't, solder that shit.

The best place for power is the battery, duh

Khadgar 08-06-2004 01:34 AM

I mean for a 12v source taht is only on with the ignition yo!

Solder :stick:

solder scares me

I made my WB Commander universal with cigarette lighter power and quick disconnects on everything else so that I can tune AFR on multiple cars in a timely manner. I won't be using the instrument much........but I will be logging with the laptop. I got it friday; and it is installed and running flawlessly.

As far as you RPM signal.........It NEEDS a strong signal! The CAS signal is too weak and will give a intermittent and incorrect RPM display.........The same goes for the white RPM wire on the Ign. Module. I even tried changing the sensitivity of the pick-up in the DynoJet software.....still no dice.

Use the suggested signal location in the supplied destructions. I grabbed the blue/black wire from the coilpack connector. (One of the negative channels) I think you have to use a multiplier of two(2) i think...........its pretty obvious to figure out the multiplier. You'll get it. Just start at 1 and increase until te RPMs on the screen to match the tach in the car. Its all in the destructions/tutorials on the supplied CD.

eh? so which wire do i use?

Ummmmmmmmmm? Use one of the blue wires from the coilpack connector for tachometer signal.
