Where does everybody work? I am 18 years old and I need a new job. Something more then the 15hrs a week and $5.15/hr. The only thing I like about my job is that i get tips so I walk out of there with cash in pocket. I need a job where i can work with cars or around cars, any ideas?

I work at ACE Hardware while attending college. We are not hiring now though.

jpretz 08-01-2004 02:34 AM

I work at SEARS and average about $17/hr. I am a salesman, we're hiring @ BC but I don't think for salespeople/

Halon 08-01-2004 03:25 AM

I work at Frito-Lay and starting paying is $13 an hour. I have gotten my brother and a friend of mine jobs. My boss just asked me if I know of anyone looking, so if you're interested PM and I'll set you up with an interview. I know it's not with car's but it's good pay if you don't find anything.

niterydr 08-01-2004 03:57 AM

I work/part owner of qpr...and I get paid for this?
lol...John (galantvr41062) use to be the detail manager for wayzata mitsubishi, ask him for the skinny on the jobs 'down there'.
I've worked for dodge as a detailer, tires plus as a 'tire tech' home depot in various retail positions, general mills as a forklift/dock operator, my dad's construction company, a mortgage company as a telermarketer...etc...You'll eventually find the right job for you, just keep looking.

Khadgar 08-01-2004 05:31 AM

AJ 08-01-2004 01:37 PM

oh snap, you be right.

FattyBoomBatty 08-01-2004 04:26 PM

yeah, he's right. there's a couple M3's this FD RX7 turbo, a couple of porsches. and RX-8's aren't all that fast, but they handle good. and mazdaspeed miata's turn really well.

those speed maita's are confusing. the boost doesn't come on till like 4000-4500 rpm and it doesn't "hit" it comes on slow.

i just don't get it.

JDM 08-01-2004 04:35 PM

I work at Billy's On Grand as a Bouncer, and the Saint Anthony Police Department...

I just quit Target Security, and will be starting at the Ramsey County Radio Communications Center soon.

And I'm a professional post whore. :stick:

I work at $upervalues distrubition warehouse in Hopkins. Their always hiring but are very picky, but if you don't mind the work they definetly take care of you. I graduate from college in Dec but am going to stay there as long as possible...well not really, but you know what I mean.

john 08-02-2004 01:55 AM

What is starting pay up there and what do you do at Super Value. I live a couple blocks away and have wondered for a while now. They are Union there right?

1slowdsm 08-02-2004 08:49 PM

I work at Valvoline right by Maplewood Mall...we're hiring part-time. I get 34 hours a week and $7.10 an hour. Its really easy there and you work on cars all day.....doing mainly oil changes though, haha.

Goat Blower 08-02-2004 09:31 PM

I own an auto brokerage business. I need a driver once in a while, but don't really need an hourly person yet. I pay ~$10/hr cash or per delivery, which is about the same. A good driving record and reliability are a must.

Raptor 08-02-2004 09:54 PM

Another business owner of QPR. And until we quit buying equipment, we don't make squat, but somehow it is still a lot of fun.

If you want decent money and a job pretty much any time you look, consider welding, machining, fabrication in general. I always made good money at those trades and never had to look for a job more than an hour or so between. Most of the time I would end up quiting one to go work for more at another, competitive field.

Unix and Networking in general were the same. Decent field to work in. And by specializing, the money is better and you are more in demand.

IndieP - You work with my bro then in hopkins. He goes by AJ as well and works days. Probably been there 15 years now and is doing pretty well. If you don't mind hard work, it should be a decent place to work. If you can stand the vocalex stuff.

Joem and I both work at Bixby Energy Systems in Rogers MN. I am the head of customer service and also help in the quality department. Joem is the final product checkout person. We are going to be hiring too. We are starting up a 2nd shift in a month. We are hiring for the production supervisor now, we will be hiring for assemblers ($10-14/hr), inspection ($10-$15/hr) and one receiving person (maybe 1st shift). I am not sure about a shift premium at this point.

I got the reliability part but the record....Not the greatest. That would be a cool part-time gig though. I used to work scouting and transport for Capstone Auto Pawn up in St. Cloud. I've always thought about getting into doing delivery for an auction house or something like that. I love to drive and have no problem driving for long distances.

Now work as a hydraulic technician rebuilding and testing hydrostatic pumps and motors. Been there 5 years now. It's a good company to work for. Good insurance and they definately believe in rewarding their employees. We have a bunch of different bonus programs, profit sharing and a good 401K plan.

I actually went to college for hydraulics and hold 3 certifications in the Fluid Power industry.

Anduinlight 08-02-2004 11:02 PM

I work at Circuit City in Bloomington as an Installer, get to work around cars alot (not many fast ones though :() I make around 10-13 dollars an hour depending on how I do install wise per month
We're sorta hiring right now, not sure if the manager is actually going to hire somone though

larryr 08-03-2004 12:01 AM

1QUICK4 08-03-2004 07:27 PM

I'm a tool for SATAN.

Jana 08-03-2004 08:18 PM

I work for a security company (Checkpoint Security Systems Group) in Eden Prairie. I won't say what I'm making though. ;) I'm the Accounts Receivable Supervisor with just 2 people under me. I'm hoping to add a 3rd person for an admin position, but I'm still working on that.

I love this place for the most part. Every company will have it's ups and downs, you just have to learn to look on the bright side of things (and not all the negativity).

Oh yeah, I'm also part-owner of QPR.

Anyway, what type of job are you looking for? Maybe that will help some of us point you in the right direction...
