That's right folks. I've come to concrete-ti-fye....yeah....my theory that AC in cars is dumb. For example...
- It robs you of power when turned on. - It can cause undue belt squeaking. - It adds quite a bit of weight. - It's fugly. - It drips water everywhere...which in turn - Drops super-heated water that falls onto the exhaust onto you skin, which then falls on your face and burns you very badly. - Hell it doesn't even work half the time. - Sometimes it smells! - Khad is a dush. ...that's all, for now! - K2 |

Yeah, you're right...that was uncalled for.

For once I agree with most everything you said. You did leave out the fact that AC is for pussies and girly men. Also it would be nice to post the appropriate solution to the heat without AC which of course is both windows down WOT ;)
|
Hell yeah! How could i forget that AC is for pussies? Jeeze...and yeah 60-2 is the best heat control (60 mph - 2 windows down)
-K2 |
I got bored waiting for that spacer so ended up tearing out most of mine. Oh well, It never worked when i had the car anyways.
-K |
Luckily mine didn't even come with it...just some of the piping left over. Idiots.
-K2 |
That is the truth! I have no a/c in any of my dsms. The only time I have had a problem is a warm summer night when it is raining. Solution is, crack the sunroof, crack the throttle, get a little wet, enjo it all the same. :dsmrule:
|
WTF!? This is nonsense. Unless you're talking about race-only cars, AC is a must. And as for the arguments "it only works half the time", "it leaks", and "it smells", I'd recommend you all buy cars that are engineered better and don't have components that are made from play-doh. I'd humbly recommemd an Ultimate Driving Machine... you know what I'm talking about.

Yeah driving in the hot summer rain makes me wet too....

I like AC but not in a DSM because it robs soo much power and can cause overheating and such.... Mine has not worked for over a year and needs to be retrofit to R134... Dont really want to do it just because I dont feel like it becuase I would only use it maybe like 20 days out of the whole year which doesnt make sense to me. So Im thinking its going bye bye soon.

I have no ac either, no radio too. Kinda thinking about re-installing radio again

I stand by my original comments. If I wanted a car to DD and be all confy I would probably get something more suited to that purpose. The only reason I have a DSM is because of it's potential to kick the ever living shit out of anything it is sitting next to (depending on who builds it of course) and in that scenario, who needs anything that isn't directly related to that goal, AC, PS, passenger seat radio or otherwise! Let the trash talk begin :bounce:
|
My DD??? Sure why not, but doesnt have to have it. My first car that had it AND WORKED (my 6th car) I ripped it out!
Hell, the GF flew to NJ today and picked up a 2001 ACR that came without AC from the factory! W00t! I just need to tempt my self to pull it from the SRT... not that I use it (never have) just once I do that, I better keep the damn car! |

Listen here punk. I don't need to worry about my AC stealing power because I don't have an engine with small hamsters shoved into the cylinders powering my car. And that's right, I stand by my comment that your engine is pretty much entirely made out of play-doh. I spit in your general direction! |
I remember last summer I said I was going to get it fixed the first day of spring...I wonder if I'll be saying the same thing when its back up and running.

I use my A/C alot, both of my DSMs have working A/C, If I race with The A/C on I can hardly tell the A/C is taking power away(I know it is), And my A/C has worked ever since I have had the car.
I like fast cars but I still have to have some comfort, If you dont care about comfort than remove your heater core, soft seats, power windows, power brakes......... ah fuck it ,remove the windshield buy some goggles. But I have to have A/C besides, have you ever tryed putting a eight month old baby in a hot car and drive around ! But hey thats my life, to each his own right!? |

Hey, nobody claimed to have any sense around here
Corey has his reasons for his AC, I think his baby might swell up and kick his ass if he tried to make him ride in a hot car. I definately don't own a DSM for it's DD potential. I would much rather be rollin in a droped, chopped 50's Merc or similar for that but then people say I am a little off anyway. And as far as the goggles go Corey, you know if I thought it wouldn't destroy my CD and get me pulled over at every corner, I might consider it. Windshields are heavy! :3gears: |

Oh my god!!!!! Don't scare me with the V6 mustang!!!! My tired, 210,000 mile 86 CRX with low compression could walk one of those pieces of crap. |

I know a guy selling his newer M3 with tubular manifold, supercharger and a few other things because he knows he will get his ass owned by a near stock DSM on stock turbo even after all his money. Matt V. can vouch for that. Wonder which one costs more? And you call it cheating hahahaha! |
Quote:
Apparently you don't realise how fast some DSM's are, that have a few grand into them(including the car) |
For what you paid for the M3 and the couple of "G's" you put into, I know of about 4 cars on this board that take it in a 1/4 mile race if the M3 started in first and they started in 2nd.
|
A stock dsm can beat you. That is less than comparable in my book. Why did you cheap out on the 325i anyhow? You should have gotten the 745 or M3.
|
Put your money where your mouth is and run one of the bone stock cars on this site with your baby beamer. If you target crap like V6 stangs and lame focii thinking you are acomplishing something impressive you are definately a waste of gas.
|
Hey Tom is out there in cali right now, I think we should set up a race between the two.
|
Damn this thread is going quick. Lets bash the new guy! I posted a reply to find out that 4 people beat me to it.. At 1am, there are 9 people on this thread...
|
Tell you what, mod your "Ultimate Driving Machine" then bring it out to the track of my choosing and we'll do this. The track has plenty of turns in it (because I know Beamers are SO great in the turns). My car is mildly modded and I will leave it that way.
The challenge has been laid, will you accept? |
BTW I love A/C, couldn't live without it.
