Well, I don't know if anyone cares, but here is where my car is at. I just got a new camera, so I wanted to play with it :D

I should hopefully have the rest of the engine together today or tomorrow. Maybe have it in tomorrow night? That is probably a little optomistic, but we'll see what happens.

For those that don't know, that is a 2.4l with Wiseco 8.8:1 pistons on eagle rods. Majorly ported head done by myself. HKS 272 cams, Crower springs and retainers. No balance shafts, plugged balance shaft oiling holes, and deleted or cut down brackets on most everything.

And the interior being gutted!

520Talon 07-17-2004 03:36 PM

Dude, how bad is your luck that the worlds smallest hurrican ran right through the inside of your car. Good luck on the clean up. ;)

Also I noticed that you remove the tranny mount from the frame. I always just pull out the center bolt and pull the bracket from the top of the tranny. No big deal just looking at the different way people pull.

At-Least-It's-An-Evo 07-17-2004 04:13 PM

Nice nice... Who's gonna be done first? you or me ? :) Get'r done. ;)

Yeah, I pulled the whole mount off when pulling it. It gives you more room to get it out.

Cher, you definately are farther along than I am. I still have to fabricate a 3" O2 housing and DP for my car after everything gets in. I want it running next weekend though.

SlowWhite 07-19-2004 07:33 AM

Looking good. If you need any help let me know!

TalonFiero 07-19-2004 09:30 AM

Looking good JET.

I'd be farther with my 2.4 swap but I'm waiting on a head gasket. :headache:

JET 07-19-2004 12:28 PM

Thanks guys! It is a long process, but it is getting a lot easier now that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Having your own garage helps out a lot too! Thank God I bought a house!

SlowWhite 07-19-2004 12:48 PM

hehehe - definetely does help having your own garage. And your own tools as well.

JET 07-20-2004 01:49 PM

Well, the cage is on the way! 6 pt chromoly from Chassis Engineering. I will be installing the 5pt with a swing out. Has anyone run into any of the IHRA tracks that got mad if you ran under 11.49 and had a 5pt instead of 6pt?

SlowWhite 07-20-2004 01:52 PM

How much if I might ask?

Not that I've been known to need one. but just for reference sake.

JET 07-20-2004 02:15 PM

I think it will be about $410 shipped for the 6 pt and swingout.

Here is the latest update!! Things went really good today. Thanks a TON to Joe and Andy for helping out! Oh yeah, Craig helped some too :P

I think I have caught up to you Cher! I am hoping to be on the road Wed, how about you?

I have to put on the fuel rail, coolant lines/radiator, Ic piping, turbo and make the O2 housing/DP. That should about do it!

Halon 07-26-2004 05:06 AM

nice man. Seeing shit like his is why I am so anxious to get back to the states and rebuild mine. I'm still unsure of what exactly I'm going to do when i rebuild. If imma go stroker, or stay 2.0 with forged, or just do the run of the mill 1grod/2g piston rebuild. But anywho looks nice man. You offering this "full head porting" yet as one of your services?

Sweet! I have a little bit to go. Wiring sensors and the fan and welding are the only things needed on mine. I hope to do the start up on Tuesday realistically.

SlowWhite 07-26-2004 09:40 AM

Bad ass!!!

Good luck to the both of you!.

curt_gendron 07-26-2004 10:02 AM

Hey JET,

Its looking good. You are almost there.

later,
Curt

JET 07-26-2004 10:06 AM

Thanks guys! I am getting worn out from working on stuff. I have been doing a lot of porting and fabricating lately too. I think I am going to take a break from working on cars for a week (hopefully!!). :bounce:

SlowWhite 07-26-2004 12:27 PM

No you're not for 2 Reasons:
1) DSMSTYLE Dyno Day this Saturday
2) Rock Falls on Sunday.

Want me to come up and do some of the stuff you have left?

Basically I could do everything but make the downpipe/02 housing?

Let me know and I'll see about finding a time cause seriously the rest of that stuff is Cake walk except the Fab work.

JET 07-26-2004 02:10 PM

No, I meant I am taking a week off AFTER this weekend! I WILL be at the dyno day! Hopefully I will even have it kinda tuned. :jammin:

SlowWhite 07-26-2004 02:47 PM

I'll hopefully be there video taping.

Enes 07-26-2004 03:05 PM

hmm.. i hope you are "taping" something else other than just video ... cough...... i just had to .. sorry..

-E

SlowWhite 07-26-2004 03:17 PM

Sorry SP Error you Biatch's!!!! :fworld:............ :headache:

JET 07-26-2004 04:02 PM

Hahahaaa!! Enes trying to correct people's spelling, that is funny! :P Actually Brian was right though, he is taping. I believe Enes was thinking about tapping? Either that or I don't get another one of Enes' jokes!

Enes 07-26-2004 07:35 PM

Jet, beleive me when i say it you aren't the only one who doesn't understand some of my jokes.. hell i get confused half of the time too..

but yeah, i was saying "tapping" as in tappin dat ass... or whatever..

Yeah i know, my spelling is bad, but i do have a valid excuse!

Raptor 07-26-2004 10:00 PM

Goofy Bosnian. :stick:

Goat Blower 07-26-2004 11:44 PM

Wait til you get to the last little details, that's where the problems begin. I've been waiting on a mini battery for almost two weeks, haven't been able to do squat up til today. And then there's the VPC and wideband display mounting, oh and that Alpine deck I just put in.

JET 07-27-2004 02:18 AM

Haha! I got almost all of the electrical hooked up tonight. The fuel system is done. All vacuum lines are run except the BOV and WG. I am going to be dead tired at work since it is after 2am and I have to be up in 4 hours :D

All I have left is to make a battery hold down, modify my main water pipe, make the O2 housing and DP, then install the coolant lines/radiator and put the IC piping back on!

I already test fit the O2 bend, I have some tweaks to make on that for tomorrow right after work. I will also do the main water pipe then. I will have a decent chance of being done tomorrow if I pull another late night. It will be Wed. at the latest, unless I missed something, but I don't think I did.

I can't believe how empty my engine bay looks for being almost done, I love it! Most of the stuff I did tonight wouldn't show up well in a pic, so I didn't take any. I should have a sweet one tomorrow though!! :bounce:

SlowWhite 07-27-2004 07:39 AM

Nice!

Keep up the good work!

At-Least-It's-An-Evo 07-27-2004 08:18 AM

Good work! You might finish before me. :naughty: :razz2:

Well it came to life at 6:45am on Sunday. It wasn't an easy birth though, there were some complications. I had worked on it all night to try and get it to the track on Sunday. There was a serious oil leak so I said screw it and went in to bed. After tearing it all down it was just a stripped bolt that was leaking. I got it all back together tonight and it runs good! I have 2 tiny oil leaks from external fittings that I have to fix after it cools down. I should be on the road within an hour.

I really want to thank Joe M. for all his help! I would also like to thank Andy, Mike and Craig. And also Shane and Mo for a copy of their AEM program. Thanks everyone!

Here is a pic of it all done!! :3gears:

A//// Guy 08-02-2004 09:13 PM

Looking sweet! Why is there a stock intake manifold on that beast! ;)

JET 08-02-2004 09:26 PM

That is going to be temporary (hopefully!). I already have the 3" accufab throttle body, I just need to make or buy a new manifold. She is going to be a torque monster for now!
