All we have now is the 2016 Ford RS
So is the 2016 Ford RS going to fill the evo's exit of the market?
What's the deal with the car specs in comparison to the evo? What is fords aftermarket tuning support strategy? since the 2.3 eco boost enging is shared with the 2015 mustang, there are companies like map working on upgrade paths already. It will be interesting to see this all play out. |
Re: All we have now is the 2016 Ford RS
Time to move to more cylinders. :D

Re: All we have now is the 2016 Ford RS
I think it looks like a sweet contender in that market, with the proposed 330hp it should be able to keep up with the subaru's. It also sounds like Ford has put some thought and technology into that car as well.

It looks like it has good creature comfort technology and an interesting driveline. http://horsepowerkings.com/2016-ford...que-vectoring/ If it was possible to work it up to 500whp I would drive it year round and sell my evo se. Once the se gets more miles and wear & tear, it just broke 60k on it now. |
Re: All we have now is the 2016 Ford RS
I'm digging the Focus RS; more than the Speed3 and STI for sure. Cobb and Diablo already have tuning to support the entire EcoBoost lineup so there's no reason both won't jump on the RS as well. I see that MAP has already crossed 500whp on the EcoBoost Mustang with the stock block.

I agree, the rs stands out. Nice vid by map too.

Re: All we have now is the 2016 Ford RS
One of my buddies down here is actually planning to trade his '08 X in on a RS once they come out.

Re: All we have now is the 2016 Ford RS
I'm holding out for Mitsu to make a replacement for the 3000GT. (so, in other words, I'll be driving 90s cars for the rest of my life) LOL
It will be interesting to see how the new RS does once it is out there for awhile and people start really tuning it. |

Mitsubishi has a long way ahead of them to gain a considerable market share in the U.S. IMO they have struggled with most of the models they offer for a long time, most of which were never that great with looks and with reliability. It wasn't until recently that some of the models they are offering actually look decent.

Not only that but the entire line up they offer is selling like crazy. They have been changing the game since the gm bail out. To be quite honest IMO they are one of the best brands on the market today. |
Re: All we have now is the 2016 Ford RS
Ford didn't take a bail-out actually.
|
Re: All we have now is the 2016 Ford RS
Yeah i wasn't really clear, I was referencing the time period of when GM did and such. They made the changes necessary to improve and keep going.

Not technically, but they did take plenty of tax payer money in loans for retooling their factories. |
Re: All we have now is the 2016 Ford RS
Well at least they did a good job with those loans so, By all means retool!

Re: All we have now is the 2016 Ford RS
I'd DD the RS for sure, I like Ford a lot and considering trading in the evo for it. I think the RS, for me anyway, would replace a turbo 4 AWD daily for sure. Just can't get myself to want a boxer engine but still like subbies plenty.
But for 500whp, now a days, I like bigger displacement for new cars like a 5.0 from ford (or the gt350r mmmmmm) or c7 etc. Maybe even new camaro, looks promising. I have come to realize more cylinders typically makes things easier when trying to make power haha. |

Re: All we have now is the 2016 Ford RS
Ford turbo awd is a new concept i feel like in fords history. Calling the eco boost a performance car in and by itself don't quite seem to sit right. Its already been mentioned aftermarket bolt on support is not quite the best ....(yet) which is besides the point. I say yet, because maybe it will take off who knows. Any manufacture's vehicle should be the number one sold brand in its own NATION!
You go to Germany bmw are everywhere. But to say it will blow Subaru or similiar brands with YEARS of proven track and street records out the water performance wise that is quite a lofty statement and i hope ford can back it up. Also actually working next to the ford dealer ship our sister dealership, and actually working ON THE FORDS getting to drive them day in and day out, hearing first hand complaints and experiences ... not some jaded TV commercial shuns me away a little bit. How many of the people ranting how awesome the car is have actually driven one. Owned and maintained, in addition to modded one. There seem to be multiple issues with not only the turbo's themselves but just regular maintenance seems to be full of complaints. What do i know though. I cant even speak clearly. Anything with a turbo charger is kind of cool...Evo exits Ford RS comes its place PLEASE... lol |

Ford's sells vehicles across the globe, are they number 1? maybe not but im sure with out looking it up they do quite well. As subaru may be big in rally, Ford has been racing for probably three times as long in many categories of racing.. including rally. I'm not sure anything needs to be mentioned to back it up, the history speaks for itself. |

Also, the RS isn't new really, been in Europe forever.

Re: All we have now is the 2016 Ford RS
I am saying that I believe that Ford has a great line up of cars and is one of the best brands on the market in my own opinion, because i have driven many of the models from the trucks to suv's and cars and all have been a pretty good experience. Have I owned one personally? No, but would I consider buying one? Yes, in a heartbeat. Actually have been wanting an edge or an explorer for quite some time. I think any manufacturer will have issues - nature of the beast, nobody's perfect.

Re: All we have now is the 2016 Ford RS
The RS has been around in other forms and Subaru has a proven track record of part failures.
|
Re: All we have now is the 2016 Ford RS
We only have 25k on our ecoboost, but so far not a hiccup. Decently quick, torquey low end kinda like a turbo diesel, and 35mpg on trips to Fargo

Re: All we have now is the 2016 Ford RS
The new Speed 3 is supposedly going to be AWD. And after driving a friend's hatchback 3 with a 6 speed manual and all the goodies along with coilovers, I was blown away at how well it did. It would be my first choice but a focus RS would be quick to follow WELL before Subaru.

Re: All we have now is the 2016 Ford RS
Iam a chevy guy at heart. But I think ford is going to my next choice in cars. They seem to look for new ways in the automotive industry. Like the ecoboost truck. One awesome truck amd it has a v6 that does alot better then the v8s. With that being said I think the focus rs well be a amazing car. They can make good power on stock long block. Iam sure ford will pave the way with the focus rs.

Re: All we have now is the 2016 Ford RS
I want to believe that the rs will be the front runner among its peers and the key to all of this is be the most capabable and robust to handle modifications. The big thing here is I'm not satisified with the factory offering, of any of these cars. The handeling and braking is good but for me overall power and acceleration sucks. I drove a bone stock 10 a couple of years ago and if i didnt know how much even a tune woke them up I would have never even considered it as a possibility for me.

Alpha have you never heard of the Cosworth Escort or RS200?
Ford has been in WRC since the 70's. I guess that's all a pretty new concept though. |

This is really going to be a sweet car! I hope they jazz up the gauges a bit though.

Re: All we have now is the 2016 Ford RS
I hope they don't offer a dual clutched auto for it. Keep it as a normal auto trans or manual please. THE Ecoboost do great with tunes, F150's,with a programmer haul ass it is silly. I'd like to see a modded 2.7 ecoboost truck, I bet it would haul ass. Not to mention knowing the warranty side from being a Ford service advisor, some upgrades are still covered by warranty. Enjoy!
