Project Gholt: Slower, Heavier, & Quieter
Well, this should make for a pretty low operating cost DD! 2012 Chevy Volt Premium w/21k miles on it; found this one up in Chicago and had it transported down. It was the only one for sale in the country with this exact list of colors, options, etc. (diamond white exterior, black leather interior w/silver accents, heated seats, navigation, backup camera, front & rear parking sensors, polished wheels, etc.).

Interesting DD for sure.

Re: Project Gholt: Slower, Heavier, & Quieter
Just don't leave the key on and go to sleep by accident,....... Big GM recall coming on that.
Nice pair though. |
Re: Project Gholt: Slower, Heavier, & Quieter
Cool pick-up. I am curious to see how you like it considering how much these have dropped in price for a nice used one. I'll have to get out and drive one sometime, would make a great DD if you can make most of your trip without gas!

Nice, hybrid style. The volt's are much better looking than the prius. What kind of distance do these get on a typical charge?

Re: Project Gholt: Slower, Heavier, & Quieter
GHOLT!
I like. |

The white Murica stable is complete!
|
Re: Project Gholt: Slower, Heavier, & Quieter
Nice, I should get one for 5 mile drive to work.
|
Re: Project Gholt: Slower, Heavier, & Quieter
Nice! Love the match in the garage, rowdy & green/eco.
|
Re: Project Gholt: Slower, Heavier, & Quieter
Dude, how can you even get out of the cars parking so close? Haha.
I'd love an electric with 40 mile range, as I never go more than 15 miles each way in town. But Emily doesn't want one. :( Seems like a nice car, and I love how they match. White ftw. |

Have you explained to Emily that the Volt switches over to it's gas generator once the battery is drained so there is no range anxiety like a typical EV? Quote:

^LOL.
I need a dark red volt! |
Re: Project Gholt: Slower, Heavier, & Quieter
Tinted (30% metalized all-around) then detailed it once I got home. Everything turned out pretty well if I do say so myself!

Re: Project Gholt: Slower, Heavier, & Quieter
Nice, what's the legal limit down there for tint?

Re: Project Gholt: Slower, Heavier, & Quieter
620 miles roundtrip this weekend, cruise control set at 85 most the time, with a few jaunts into the 90's just because passing people in this thing is hilarious, especially with the gobs of torque on tap! Averaged 34 MPG which I think is pretty good for those speeds. It's rated at 40 MPG highway, which seems to be possible when around 65 MPH or below (got about 45 coming back from a casino in Oklahoma two weeks ago). The car was very comfortable, and above all else, nearly silent even at fast highway speeds. Almost eerily quiet with minimal wind noise. Cool car, great purchase...definitely due for a good wash & wax tonight after work!

Re: Project Gholt: Slower, Heavier, & Quieter
Not to bad. Interested to hear what you see for city miles.

On gas it's rated at 35 MPG city. |
Re: Project Gholt: Slower, Heavier, & Quieter
That would be sweet for DD duty. Most people I'm sure they're daily work commute falls within that range. Wonder if employers would let you plug in at work? I'd have to run a long ass extension cord I think, which I'm guessing they wouldn't be fond of.

Everything was fine & normal in San Antonio though, apparently the flood gates were all working as intended on the river since nothing appeared out of the ordinary on the Riverwalk. |

Free "gas", can't really beat that.
|
Re: Project Gholt: Slower, Heavier, & Quieter
I'd plug it in at work, but after 4pm it's just me and one other person at work.

:(
http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...514_173256.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...514_173246.jpg T-boned by a GMC Canyon. Luckily the speeds were fairly low and the car held up well. The side curtain airbags did deploy. OnStar called the police and immediately sent a kill signal to the engine. |
Re: Project Gholt: Slower, Heavier, & Quieter
Damn! Glad you area okay though!
|
Re: Project Gholt: Slower, Heavier, & Quieter
damn man, I think it looks worse than it really is though, doors probably just meant to crumple like that. I bet that's completely fixable.
|
Re: Project Gholt: Slower, Heavier, & Quieter
Ugh sucky! Glad everyone is ok!

Yowza! Good thing it was a Canyon and not a Silverado. Glad you're alright.

Re: Project Gholt: Slower, Heavier, & Quieter
It's at the Chevy dealership's collision center now and should hear from the insurance company later this week on what they're thinking. With all the electronics, I figured it was a wise choice to let the dealership handle this one rather than the body shop I typically use.
