Patrick's bikes

1 Attachment(s)
Well since we've all moved on to different things. I wanted to display my work in progress bikes. I currently own a 2006 Honda cbr 600rr as well as a 2003 honda shadow 750 now.

The 600rr is nearly done but needs new plastics and bolts and a fairing stay. I did a lot of the maintenance this year as the previous owner let it sit for two years because he was deployed. She might need new fork seals and she'll run trouble free for a long time. What I did to it this year was added a yoshimura rs5 slip on exhaust, new chain and sprockets, OEM air filter and new ngk iridium plugs.

The shadow 750 needs a little work itself such as clean and lube the chain, fix a few dents on the tank or get a new one(if I want it to be perfect but will probably wait till winter), replace rear seat, clean the damn carbs(I hate this and don't know how), and new tires and she will be great for this year. I have plans for how I want it to look but essentially, this bike is for me and the lady to cruise on once in awhile.

I'll add more pics and details when I'm not on my phone. Anybody want to help me clean my carbs?

Re: Patrick's bikes

DCTC doesn't have many left turns when ran in clockwise configuration.

Turn 2, 4 and 5 are all left handers and 4 and 5 make a nice sweeping left if you clip the apex on the insides of the corners just right. I think thats how you speak racing? I dunno. But yes, I can make a left handed turn just fine :)

This is considering turn 1 being the first turn after the straight or by the track entrance.

Re: Patrick's bikes

Dctc is a good way to dust off and drag some knee after a long winter, my first will be June 19th throught road closed, ill also be at bir July 12th. If you get a chance try riding through road closed once I'll bet you'll leave Zars after that :)

Re: Patrick's bikes

Thanks! It gets addicting after one!

The following images are huge to piss Pete off. :violin:

Just to prove I can do left handed turns:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.n...60339931_o.jpg

Also, did some work on the shadow today. Still got a lot to do to finish up the bars but it is way more comfortable to sit on with these bars compared to the old ones and my hands are not turned at a weird angle. These bars are off a stock shadow 1100 and are more drag style. Taller and less bend back = win! I also replaced the chain and sprockets on it and went dropped down to a 38 tooth rear for better highway cruising rpms. Black chain looks pimpin.

I had to take off the front wheel because it kept leaking after I put on the new tires and tubes. Found out the inner tube was pinched at the valve stem causing it to leak very fast. SSB replaced it for free.

Nasty front sprocket full of luuuuuube
https://scontent-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hp...8b&oe=560CEE9E

Best $92 tool ever! Motion pro PBR, well worth the money. This is my 2nd chain I've done with ease because of this tool.

Easy peasy comes out the pin.

And out in no time

New rear 38t JT steel sprocket. Looks extremely tiny.

bling bling!

Putting the master link on. Dat black chain doe.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.n...7e9b250e1b460d

https://scontent-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hp...43&oe=55BF8DD4

New bars from behind. Giggity.
https://scontent-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hp...0f&oe=55D9D8CC

Side profile. Starting to look more like an American Badass Edition and not an American Classic Edition.
https://scontent-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hp...f3&oe=55C2D60F

You can really see the height difference. Perfect for my short torso and arms for an upright position. No apes, those are stupid.
https://scontent-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hp...2f&oe=55CC34A4

I still need to solder the wires into the bars to clean it up and get some front signals and some mirrors. I also need to try and lube the choke cable (giggity goo!) and change out the plugs. :crapper:

Doing more laps around DCTC. My Riding has changed and I am now a level 3 rider.
There was a ton of traffic in the groups I was in and it was a pita to try and improve through out the day when I kept running into slower people. I got in the best laps during the end of the day when everybody had gone home and it was more of an open track. Being that I am level 3 now that means I'm with faster riders and I hope to get a knee down the next time I'm there. Not many pics #becauseslowpeople. And only right handed turns.

I wish I could have made the RCP day and try it CCW but time is not working in my favor. Have you done BIR yet or going this weekend?

niterydr 06-22-2015 12:46 PM

Re: Patrick's bikes

I don't have the cashflow for a full track day yet, I'd like to do ZARS this weekend but the funding isn't there. Maybe the July event thru RCP.

RCP is all the track time you can chew on at DCTC.

First duc and I always wanted a monster since I first started motorcycling. Mods to come along with more maintenance items. First track day on this beast is Saturday and I hope to put my Dunlop q3s on it. Bishes love the sound of the duc

Is the Repsol gone?

tehehodi 07-08-2015 03:55 PM

Re: Patrick's bikes

She gone. While everybody is giving me the o_0 face. Let me explain.

1) I've always wanted a monster and people who've known me long enough, know I've loved them since day one.

2) This thing is truly a monster at 900cc's, this is my first bike above 600cc's and WOW was I missing out on all the fun.

3) Dry clutch

4) $65/yr to insure for comp, glass, roadside, rental, above state mininums. This makes it cheaper for me to own than my 600rr with MOAR powah.

5) It's comfy yet sporty.

6) Bishes love the duc and the deek. The unique sound it produces turns heads

7) For how heavy it looks, It's actually pretty light and feels light like my old 600rr

8) I still have my cruiser

9) Smiles for miles. I can get around your grandma car much easier

10) It's a Ducati and my first one. Can't wait to upgrade some day to a S4R or a newer single sided swingarm monster. I feel soooo much more grown up on this bike and fits my age group.

11) nekkid like my womenz

I'll bike swap with you for a little ride once. You ride the zx10 and I'll ride the duc!

That's awesome, ducati's are sweet and are known to be excellent track bikes. For the longest time I always wanted a 1098 or 1198 :) but can't afford haha.

Im curious to see how your track days are different and how much the handling differs between the bikes. Will be interested to find out.

Between riding my buddies modified gsxr 1000 and my 600 i was amazed at how much more power his had. It was awesome. I think you made a good trade.

You run 7s (in the 1/4 mile and not in the 1/8th mile) you can have it :iheartu2: Only get 3 runs though

But we both gotta call in sick or something the next really nice day and go ride around and find some good roads!

Congrates on the Duc. It that monster a L Twin?

tehehodi 07-10-2015 09:24 AM

Re: Patrick's bikes

Slapped my Q3's on there last night and she is ready for track day on Saturday. Went for a test ride and holy cow are these tires sticky!

Front is a standard 120/70 size
Rear is a 180/55.

Stock the rear is suppose to be a 170 but a 180 fits and it changes the turn in a little. Wider rear feels a lot more stable and I feel like it grips more(perhaps the sticky Q3) as I have more of a contact patch when cornering(I will really know on Saturday). It's definitely got a more sport bike feel with these tires.

The engine is an L twin!

Re: Patrick's bikes

I'm totally jealous you got a Ducati! Your list of 11 things can easily be boiled down to one reason.

1) Its a Duc. /End of list

tehehodi 07-11-2015 08:58 PM

Re: Patrick's bikes

The bike feels okay on the track. Needs a suspension rebuild which will get done this winter for sure. But I finally dragged my knee through turn 1! I also dragged a lot of other parts such as my exhaust and toe slider.

A properly broken in new Dunlop Q3, they performed excellent on the track!
