Project GTL!
Well as most of you know, I ran into a bit of bad luck with the Evo, and it found a new home! That left me needing a new car :). We looked at a bit of everything, but settled on a 335i xdrive. It was challenging finding one with a manual, but I found this guy in Boston. I flew out on Friday morning and drove it back.
It is a 2011 335i xdrive. It has just about every option, I'm not sure on what my future plans for it are, other than getting rid of some of the chrome and the "old man woodgrain". https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-A...307_135426.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-i...25281%2529.jpg https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-P.../IMG_79681.jpg https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-T.../IMG_12511.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-D...03-no/BMW2.jpg Testing out the odd, but seemingly very sturdy and impressive cup holders :) https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-0...307_142804.jpg Also, stopped at 3Floyds for some beer on my way through Chicago! https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-m...308_121443.jpg Here is the options list (slightly condensed) Sport Package Convenience Package Cold Weather Package Premium Package All-wheel drive Heated Steering Wheel Tire pressure monitor Moonroof Power front seats Dark Burl Walnut wood trim Blow-by heater Retractable headlight washers Park Distance Control Rain sensor and auto headlight Xenon headlights Adaptive light control Automatic climate control Ambiance lighting Navigation system Voice-command Hi-fi sound system TeleService Control iPod and USB adapter Real Time Traffic Information Combox controller |

Re: Project GTL!
What's the curb weight on this thing? I have to say I whole-heartedly approve of this douche-mobile! Power is nice and linear, seats are comfy, it handles nice, and the list of features is a mile long. Really nice car!

It tips the scales at 3814. |
Re: Project GTL!
Love it. Beamerstyle engage!

Re: Project GTL!
Looks great, impressive list of features! What is a Combox controller?
And what does GTL stand for? |
Re: Project GTL!
Looks like an awesome car! Nice pick up
|
Re: Project GTL!
Very nice man! Some of the pics don't work for me though, anyone else having the same problem?

The combox allows the idrive to do bluetooth music streaming and sync text messages. Standard on all idrive after like 9/10 build dates. |
Re: Project GTL!
The Combox sounds really cool. And I don't gym nor tan, so I guess I am just L haha!
|
Re: Project GTL!
Haha looks great! GTL = Escalade though, not a beamer lol!

Re: Project GTL!
Vinyl wrap the wood grain with brushed aluminum and I think it will sporten up that interior nicely.

I've seen some dark grey brushed aluminum that looked nice as well. |
Re: Project GTL!
I am totally an old man now, because I like the wood grain :)
You could try that hydro-dip process too, but you'd have to completely remove them. |

Re: Project GTL!
Bringing it on the cruise?? I had a blast with mine last cruise! I was amazed at the cornering ability and how effortless it was, but still involving. Not like hustling a dsm/evo around!

Re: Project GTL!
Played around with the Navi some more yesterday. I really like the built in traffic functions! I know I can do it on my smart phone, but it is handy to have it right there ready for me!

Re: Project GTL!
The Nav isn't too bad in it, but honestly I never use it. I haven't gotten the voice to work well and typing all that shit in is a pain. Just talk in my phone and away I go. The cubby in front of the shifter is the perfect size too, you can prop your phone up in there and see it well.
|
Re: Project GTL!
Yea that is pretty neat! But id probably never use it either with how much easier a phone is to look things up, plus google maps cant be beat haha.
|
Re: Project GTL!
Since having a car with in-dash navi that is now a must for me, I like it a lot better than using my phone.
|
Re: Project GTL!
Yeah i set it up for the trip home so my phone could be used for other stuff. Yeah I will probably not use it for much other than looking at a map quick. Address typing in is a little slow but not to bad. I just like the quick hit nav button and traffic pops up!
|
Re: Project GTL!
The traffic is awesome! The Evo X didn't get that until 2011 :(

Re: Project GTL!
Got a couple little things done. I sadly put a front plate on it, don't feel like getting hassled for it. I found one that mounts into the tow hook mount, so at least I didn't have to drill any holes!
Also plasti dipped the front grill. IMO looks much better than the chrome. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-3...317_164555.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-F...317_164605.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-8...317_164617.jpg |
Re: Project GTL!
That plate mount is awesome, great idea.
The all black errrthing looks great too! |
Re: Project GTL!
That looks so awesome!
|
Re: Project GTL!
That is a cool plate mount and the blacked out grill looks good
|
Re: Project GTL!
That plate holder is awesome! Is it custom just for BMWs or is it universal?
