WW Evo IX RS
Well as some of you know I went out to Virginia and picked up this beauty.
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps13tzygzx.jpg I found it originally on ebay and was a little skeptical but the guy had a perfect feedback for over 10 years. So as the bidding went on I capped myself at 15,500 and told myself I wouldnt go anymore. Of course it didnt happen like that and I went to 16,200 and was like okay this is it no matter what. About an hour later someone else over bid me and the car ended up selling for 17,100. Game over right? Well during the week it was for sale I was in contact with seller and told him if it doesnt sell or if the buyer ends up being shady let me know asap and that I would be a player around the 16,500 range. The day after it ended he messaged me and said hey lets make a deal on the car, he said the winning bidder never sent a deposit or contacted him. So here is my chance to own my dream car (only 179 were made of this model in white and 179 in red.)...but its ebay, why isnt it on evom? why so cheap? Over the next few days we made a deal at 16,500, found out the guy was an avid evo owner over the years (this being his 6th one). So everything had checked out on the seller. A buddy of mine did a carfax on it for me and everything came back perfect. 3 previous owners, the first one owning it to 88k miles where the factory clutch had finally gone out. The next guy had it til this August where he sold it with a blown t case. The guy I bought it from only put about 100 miles on it after he fixed the tcase. He said he just didnt have time to enjoy the car between running his business and being a family man. My buddy and I left Monday around noon and arrived at his place Wednesday morning. (1130 miles one way) When I got there I test drove the car and it drove flawlessly, its shifts like butter. My 8 never shifted this nice, I was in love!! The only real downfall after I checked over car was just how dirty the paint was and some of the silly carbon fiber crap on it. All of which can be and is already on its way off the car. Everything else was exactly how the seller described it so after some good stories from the sellers previous evos and racing events we loaded her up and made the treck home and arrived Thursday night around 10pm. It was good to be home not gunna lie :) its funny how awesome MN seems after you drive out of state and hit some of the most boring areas in the US lol. My initial plans for car are to return it to mostly stock and do e85/pump tunes. Also a timing belt/water pump service will be done too. Then drive it!! And yes it'll certainly be on the track next yr as well!! This is why I didnt want car shipped to MN LOL. http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...psuauxtpow.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...psksj48hcu.jpg Came home to this Thursday night!! http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...psesp5a1lo.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps2dle8heo.jpg Clay bared car Friday night and started removing carbon fiber crap. The worst part of it is removing the glue that holds it on. Also cleaned up the headlights with the 3m kit. Came out awesome!! http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...psjq54p1dd.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps1i6mzti4.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps5pitiw18.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps4tiomjjw.jpg (license plate is only on fmic because I didnt have plates for it yet and wanted to drive it to my buddies heated garage so I took my evo 8 plates and put them on here for the night lol) |

Thank you guys!! I'm pretty excited to get her dialed in just right. Stock turbo and e85!!
Goodhart - It was one of those really lucky finds I think, seemed too good to be true so I still almost passed on it lol. Glad I rolled the dice and bought it. I think Ron was actually more excited than me about it haha. He just loves these cars |

Re: WW Evo IX RS
I wish I didn't have to dd the spyder in winter but I don't have another car unfortunately. Say, evotuner, looking at your pics your place seems very familiar. Do you happen to live in Jacob heights on mnsu campus? I went there last year.

Re: WW Evo IX RS
Oh I see, my grandparents live on Madison lake. Cool area, pretty good lake for fishing walleye too. I was just wondering because the garage and driveway looked identical to my old place. Love the car btw, great build!
|
Re: WW Evo IX RS
Thanks, yeah its a pretty area down here. Hit me up if youre ever down in the area again. Its always nice getting together with some car guys.
|
Re: WW Evo IX RS
I lived in Eagle Lake while I went to school down there. I remember there was a bar in Madison lake called the Town Pump.... 16 oz pbr's.
The two evo strategy is awesome too. |

Re: WW Evo IX RS
E85 Tune date set for April 15 (9:30am) at RS Motors
I also have a few things ordered to clean the car up a bit and whatnot - ETS UICP/ OEM BOV - New OEM RS floor mats - Fender Liner - Front license plate (LOL) - Repaint lip on front bumper - Removing tint - Clean injectors and maybe new Walbro 255 (its getting old) - New turbo oil feed line (old one is rusty as balls) There will be a few more things before the racing season gets under way like possibly new brake pads and lines. For sure new fluid. |
Re: WW Evo IX RS
So you have a track evo and a street bruiser/drag evO?
Hawt damn, living in mankato must be good. Serious note, Did they make a SE in WW? |
Re: WW Evo IX RS
LOL, Mankato is much cheaper than up there.
They did not make a SE in WW |
Re: WW Evo IX RS
I'm a happy guy today, it felt good to get this one running and tuned properly. Ron did his thing as always and so did the entire crew. We had an annoying squeaking coming from the serpentine area and I thought it was a tensioner or pulley but ended up being a bad belt. After a quick repair with a new belt it was off to tuning. About 2 hours of Ron's magic it was making 413/415 @31psi. We backed it down to 396/404 @30psi because the clutch started slipping. Moral of story: STS is the way to go on Evo IX's. :)
