So I joined back in December...
 

It's 6 months in from my join date so I should probably do an intro. My name is Jeremy and I live in Franconia Township. I discovered dsm's late last year and I currently have two of them. Neither of them run yet, however. Both of them are 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi awd's. The first one I bought is currently in the garage, on jack stands, and boxes are starting to collect on top. I've been wanting to get the other one ready for Proving Grounds which is now less than 2 weeks away. It probably won't happen, but I'm not ruling it out yet.

I picked this one up in January for $2300. What got me interested in it was the craigslist ad said it had Wiseco pistons and Eagle rods. It had everything else the ad stated, so I figured it was a safe bet. When I got it home, however, I found stock internals.

Luckily, it still came with the following:
Evo III 16g
Ported Evo III exhaust manifold
Sloboy racing o2 housing
Apexi SAFC
HKS 264 cams
HKS adjustable cam gears
Walbro 255hp
RC 550 injectors
FAL Fan Kit

Before Proving Grounds it needs the synchros replaced, a setup with a recirculated bov, and probably tires. If I don't make it to this one, I'll make it in September.

Thanks! Yeah, it does look pretty good. I got an extensive history with it and it was originally an Arizona car. The inner workings are another matter. The guy who I bought it from had just got out of drug treatment and said he had previously spent some time working on it while tweaking. It didn't run when I bought it because the coil wires were swapped, and I must have spent 2 weeks cleaning up the incorrectly wired SAFC and rat's nest crimp connector job on the ecu wiring.

Welcome! You started out with an AWD, so you are starting in the right spot. Take it slow and do lots of research on here. You will learn tons.

Thanks for the welcome. Unfortunately I won't have the car ready to run this year. When I wrote the intro, I was beginning the building permit process to build a good sized pole building workshop. I had filled up my 2 car garage with new projects in anticipation of a big building to put all the stuff in. Ran into a zoning issue and rezoning didn't get approved until a month ago. In the meantime I've had no space to work on the 1g. Right now I'm just hoping for another Menards 11% off everything sale before snow fall so I can buy the building materials.

I bought a $20 endoscope off eBay and put it in the spark plug hole. I saw 63DT on the piston. I haven't looked at the lower end so I suppose there could be some eagle rods in there, but my plan is to put in a twin scroll hx35 setup and learn to tune it myself so it wouldn't matter anyway - the motor needs to be disassembled.

if you are going to tune it yourself i think you would have good luck with ecmlink. yes it will not be cheap at first but you can pretty much do anything with it. why do you need to tear motor down? just because of stock internals? with a 16g you can still make very good power with a stock block.
