Yet another DD thread

I know there have been several, but I am looking for a DD also. I have a 35 mile commute each way, so having a decent ride would be nice. I will probably have to go auto, but might consider a stick. I get stuck in traffic quite a bit, so a stick might suck. I am really leaning towards AWD and something with some pep. I have looked at a few already, but still have some more on the list to check out. Open to suggestions on things I may have missed. Target price is $25k with low miles.

So far I looked at:

2012 G37x premium - Decent interior, not as nice as the CTS. Very good power and sharp handling.

2011 A6 - interior was nice, but nothing spectacular. Nice power, good ride. Car was a little big for me too.

2011 CTS4 - this was supposed to be the 3.6, but was a 3.0. Really liked the interior and exterior. Ride was nice, a little low on pep but not horrible. I am going to try to find a 3.6 performance version so it has the bigger wheels, engine and better suspension.

Still on the list:

Evo X - on the list, still not sure if I want a MR or GSR. I want to test drive both. I know the interior won't be up to snuff with the rest of this group, but 400whp would make up for it.

335ix - Have a bit of a bad taste in my mouth after my last BMW, but willing to give it a test drive. Not real fond of the looks.

2009 Legacy GT - Not sure about it, but going to check one out in person.

So, AWD and it needs to be either turbo or over 300hp if it is n/a. Would prefer under 4,000lb. Good looking and nice interior is fairly important too.

No WRX and no fiesta :P

2010+ legacy doesn't look too bad, but doesn't do much for me. Just looked it up and the 3.6l only has 256hp. Is this 1995? No way 256hp is going to cut it. 2009 and earlier just look too blah even if they do have the 2.5t. Might have to check the GT out in person to see if it looks better than pictures.

Hi Shawn!

I can get any of these. Not all of them are AWD, but they have plenty of balls in its place.

Evo is the best!

Legacy will be easy to find if you want an auto. I'm surprised you don't think 265hp is enough.

Good luck on your search.

I love the interior of out new G. RWD basis, AWD, 300+ hp, and if you look at '13s, they lease out fantastic.

lmao at bobbys listings that are all sub 250hp minus the G8, and only 1 or 2 is awd. haha fail.

335ix or S4 instead of a6? Looks like your mpg isnt that big of a deal. Check out the newer Volvo S60s (not R) too, they have 300hp.

Because that's what out there on the car market for 25k and low mileage. The kind of cars that make that type of power, are awd, and are low miles aren't 25k. There's a couple cars out there that I can get but didn't bother linking be aide they're 75,000+ miles.

Surprised you didn't like the Infinity's. I love the look (in and out) or the G37. My co worker got a Maxima to save a little money over the Infinity. Not awd, but that thin hauls ass and is pretty Damn nice.

How much are used SHO's going for? Awd and twin turbo :)

Just sold a sho at my work for 22,500. It was pretty fast maybe not as comfortable as some of the others.

@brown - yeah 265hp won't cut it. The 270hp in the CTS I test drove yesterday was meh.

Been living with 235hp in a durango for the last 3 years, granted it has tons of torques from the 5.9l. As of right now it is between an X and he CTS I think. 2 very different cars, but each with their strengths. These also happen to be the 2 cars I like the looks of the most by a long shot. Can't wait to drive the X, hopefully tomorrow.

@halon I fully expected the G37x to win, but really didn't like the interior. The leather on the steering wheel was horrible, I have felt softer leather on a football. Sharp plastic in the door pull, it just didn't feel high quality and leg space was very tight too. The design style was nice, just didn't feel good in person. The guy that traded it in had 3 G's before and went to a Toyota cuz the interior was getting too cheap on the G. I am sure driving the G would have been nice, but it wasn't what I was looking for.

S60, A4, RL. If it's a daily, you want something comfortable, you're not exactly young anymore. :D

Actually, screw gas mileage, get a newer Tahoe. Besides my GSX, this is the longest I've ever owned a car, and I still love it, that's gotta say something.

With the traffic I have to drive in I don't want something big like a tahoe, my durango is too big. I used to like Volvo's, but not so much any more, the S40 only has 227hp. A4 doesn't have enough power (wish the S4 had the supercharged 6) and the RL is too big. I thought about the TL SH-AWD, but I just can't get by that front end. SHO is just too big too. I am pretty sure I want something evo X/335/CTS sized.

I am getting a bit older, so I think the CTS might end up winning. I will end up having to get a fun car if I get that though, as they are not very modable.

That's actually a good price! If there's nothing wrong with the car, that should def. be on your list!

Impressive! Even with all those lots, you didn't have any cars that fit the criteria. Got any Fiestas for sale? :)

300hp attached to an awd slushbox in a heavy car. Looking at the specs last year i thought i would LOVE the RL as a daily. I went and test drove one and was VERY disappointed in the lack of power. Its all about how the car feels, not just reading the spec sheet.

I still like these. Had one as a rental last fall, and it was a great car to drive I thought, definately something I'd be looking at if I was looking for a new DD for myself. Smooth comfy ride, quiet interior, decent power, Ford MyTouch w/ Sync is pretty sweet, good size.
