well this weekend i saw Troy and The Day After Tomorrow
Troy was an awesome movie, i was impressed since it had to compete with how good Gladiator was, but overall i actually learned alot from it and i was satisfyed except the GF kept looking at brad pitt :stick:, anyways, the only thing i didnt like was how pansy Orlando Bloom's character was displayed, anyways it was a great movie, espically the Helen character was so fine played by Diane Kruger http://homepage.swissonline.ch/orlan...lm/troy/06.jpg The Day After Tomorrow was an ok movie, it got you thinking on Global Warming and how things could be, the previews that you see on TV is pretty much the whole entire movie, for those that have seen it, its really chessey at the ending and that kinda annoyed me since the whole entire movie was great except that. Overall the movie was ok some things were fake but most of everything was awesome. http://images.countingdown.com/image...76625_main.jpg please post up your current movie reviews |
Just finished seeing "Day After Tomorrow" and I liked it. Scary thought though.

Theaters:
Saw Shrek 2 in theaters yesterday. Absolutely loved it. If you at all enjoyed the 1st one, you'll love the 2nd one. Rentals: Just finished EuroTrip tonight. It was decent... just another one of those highschool party movies--with less character development. Not a total waste of my $4, though. Monster: Is that really Charlize Theron?! Who knew she could pull off a tom-boy lesbian killer, but she did. Very depressing movie, but well done. Club Dread. From the makers of Super Troopers with pretty much all the same actors. Enjoyable movie. Had no idea it was supposed to be a psycho killer comedy till I started watching it. The humor was worse than Super Troopers, but some may appreciate it more. |

I just rented a few.
Stuck on You was really good. Matt Damon was good. This is the siamese twin one. It looked really cheesy in the previews, but it was actually really funny. 4 out of 5 stars Runaway Jury was really good also. Excellent drama with a little suspense and action thrown in there. Very original too, which was a plus. 4.5 out of 5 stars. |

Saw Van Helsing a couple weeks ago. The storyline was actually well developed. I was impressed on how they intertwined the stories of Dracula, The Werewolf, and Frankenstien in one soryline. I knew that the only living thing that could kill vampires were werewolves, but how they tied in frankentsien was well done. I was also impressed on how they did the werewolf transformations. The director said that he didnt want to go with a the traditional growing hair method. He decided to have the wolf grow out of his human skin during the transformation and rip it off once he was a certain size in the transformation. A nice change in tradition. Go see it.......

Saw Shrek 2 and I hated it...really liked the first though. Becky, who also liked the first, thought the second was really bad. Maybe it is just me, but there is practically no plot or storyline whatsoever; it was basically them just showing of their CGI animation or whatever its called.

There were more characters you could appreciate in Road Trip over EuroTrip. However, overall I think I enjoyed EuroTrip more than Road Trip. RT didn't really do much for me... I watched Euro with my gf and we felt it was worth the 94 minutes.
I agree with Jet on Runaway Jury. Great cast, great plot. I've always liked Gene Hackman. |
I also saw Day After Tomorrow.
First I thought cheezy, then good special effects and such, then I was sitting there thinking that would really suck if it happend, then I got scared. Mom |

The last movie I saw in the theatre was Starsky and Hutch. It was funny. Sometimes I like movies that don't make me think alot. Just some slapstick comedy, with a few crude jokes thrown in for good measure. This movie filled that roll very nice. I also just rented American Wedding recently. I saw it in the theatre when it came out, but it was so funny I had to see it again. I like the dog scene in the beginning. Oh yeah, what's the capital of Thailand... Bangcok (sp?). I'm gonna hang out with my wang out!! Gonna rock out with my cock out. Sorry, that last paragraph was kind of trailing off into nowhere. If you don't like it, then eat shit, shitbrick. :D |
Van Helsing: Sucks... unless you're into cheesy action and love scenes. Predictable movie. **
LotR: Return of the King: Okay, this isn't recent, but I just watched it on DVD (I'd already seen it.) I say WATCH ALL OF THE LOTR MOVIES. They're awesome. ***** Ginger Snaps 2: Horror movie about werewolves. First one was awesome despite not having the best special effects. Very enjoyable movie with cool characters. ***** Last Samurai: Great movie about the Samurai. Almost perfect in the cultural aspect, except for the Seppuku scene in which a guy gets his head cut off (not going to go into why it isn't right, but it just isn't.) Other than that. Great movie. ***** Suicide Club: Japanese horror movie. Very wierd, nothing special, but a good watch. *** Battle Royale: Another Japanese movie. If you'd like to see Lord of the Flies on steroids, this is your movie. Very good, although a little cheesy at points. **** |
Geez, I watch more movies than I realize.
I just saw LOTR: ROTK for the first time when it came out last Tuesday. Excellent movie--ending carried on a little bit, but I was still very satisfied. And I accidentally bought the full-screen version of The Last Samurai when it came out, but anyway... I enjoyed that as well. I don't know if it's one of those movies you can watch over and over again, but still very good. I will agree w/ on Audious on both of these--5stars. |
Dawn Of The Dead (2004 ver.)
wow, awesome movie about zombies over-running the area and a couple people survive and flee to a local mall (this is where it gets interesting) but youll have to watch it to understand, there is an older version of this movie... the whole entire time i was scared and it was just overall a great movie, but appartenly at the end they die? can anybody confirm/denie this? http://www.altomovies.com/d/dawn-of-...-im-006201.jpg |
yes.. they die because when they got to an island they tought they are safe.. however a whole bunch of zombies ran out of woods and had some dinner...
-E |
the butterfly effect - i know its kind of old but i went to go see it on tuesday. i think it was a good movie, id go see it again or rent it or something. makes you think how one little detail that is changed can change everything  .
|
Damn of the dead spoilers ahead....maybe?
Dawn of the dead I thought was good, but dissapointing. Until I realized that the whole intent of the movie was to depict the end of the world. When you look at it that way it makes a lot more sense. |
Dawn of the dead was a little dissappointing, but still ok. 28 days later was much better.
I didn't think Kill Bill Vol 2 was as good as all the critical hype it got. It was good, but not great. I can't think of any really good movies that I have seen in the last year. LOTR does nothing for me. I liked #2 the best. #3 was so sappy that I thought the hobbits were going to start fucking each other at the end and the scene where the ghosts finally come and save the day was very anti-climatic. The first Matrix movie is the last amazing movie that I can remember and would watch more than once. The second and third were crap. Butterfly Effect was good. Troy, Van Helsing, Soul Plane, The Day after Tomorrow, etc all looked like crap from the previews. I didn't see The Last Samurai because Tom Cruise was the main character. |

I have to chime in on a few movies though. The Last Samuri didn't look to be all that good as Shane said due to Tom Cruise, but wow! It was a great flick and I usually don't go for those. Master and Commander..... umm puts me to sleep. Litterally I have tried watching it 5 times and each time I get bored I just pass out. it's a great bedtime story. You got Served - really sweet hip hop dance movie for thosw who like to watch the new age dance shit with old style break dancing mixed in. Plot was gay, but hey, I wasn't expecting an oscar film there. I am in the middle of Underword right now. |
yeah i just like the dancing in you got served.
|
speaking of dancing.. i saw the movie Honey.. worst movie ever and fell asleep 2 times, the only GOOD~! thing about it was Jessica Alba...
http://us.ent4.yimg.com/movies.yahoo...lba/honey8.jpg |
Jessica Alba....soo hot....want to touch the hiney. AROOO!
Saw Dawn of the Dead a while ago, wasnt that good. not scary,, jumped into the story too quickly, and the ending credits were gay. That whole thing on cutting the credits to show 20 clips of 2 sec shots was really anoying cuz you never got to see the ending as a whole. I thought it was pretty funny when they were sniping clebrities from the roof, but that whole dog incident was gay as hell. O well..... Day after Tomorrow: trailers were misleading, and the ending was too, well, it left so many things unanswered. like what happens to earth after the storm? what happens to the clean up effort? why did the mexicans not let the us refugees into mexico? I thought the effects and the whole end of the world thing was cool and all, but it ended up being a im gonna save my son movie. Meh, it was alright. the highlight was the effects. Dennis Quaid really wasnt that special. Seeing Harry Potter tomorrow, so Ill give the reiew on that after I see it. Heard mixed things |
harry potter 3.. wow it sucked so bad im not even going to post an image.- i just wanted to die, it was the longest movie and the worst movie, please dont go see this, its bad for so many reasons. maybe its just me or maybe it was becuase i was sitting by little 11 year old girls who kept talking through-out the movie about what was surposed to happen next or there secret club, ITS THE WORST MOVIE
|
Are you a Harry Potter fan? I've heard this is one of the best ones. I'll see it later on.
The Day After Tomorrow: I thought it was good. But I like these kind of movies. Yeah, most of it's not too realistic, but this one made you think about all the polution, etc. Honey: Loved it for the most part. But then I just liked seeing Jessica Alba shake it. |
Okay, as promised, I would post as soon as I saw HP 3. I am a man of my word.
It was pretty good, people made too big of a hype about it. They left some minor things out that were in the book, if they included them, some things would have been a little clearer. Like when Harry saw the elk at the pond when being attacked by the dementors, little did he know that that elk thingy was the animal his father turned into whenever he, sirius and peter went around causing ''mischief'' I may sound like a complete dork, but this was the first and only Harry Potter book I read. So i pride myself in my current and limited knowledge. Overall, not bad. Id buy it just so i could add it to the other Harry Potter movies my family owns. |
We saw day after tomorrow and I liked it. It was pretty good. But then again I lliked a few other moives like it. The other movies I am looking forward to seeing are Dodgeball and I Robot.
|
I Robot looks pretty bitchin. Will Smith is a pimp.
|
Dodgeball and I,Robot will kick ass. Will SAmith and Ben Stiller (acting like an ass) You cant go wrong, well....Wild Wild West was an exception, but whos counting?
|
Re: Recent Movies
Bringing back an old thread.
Dodgeball : OK, But not a B Stiller Fan I Robot : Better than I though it would be Little Black Book : Very good chick flick. Great ending. Sky Capt and the World of Tomorrow : Loved it. Alien vs Predator : Big fan of both originals (Predator 2 sucked) and thought this combo was done very well! Anyone else wanna help keep this moving? |
Re: Recent Movies
The Aviator: fantastic, fasted 3hr movie i've ever seen. really good in all aspects
Phantom of the Opera: OOPS! big mistake, pretty to look at, but, just, wrong! Meet the Fockers: i guess no one else of me is sick of ben stiller being the same fucking dude in every goddamn movie?? slightly more entertaining than taking a big dump :) In Good Company: pretty good movie, nothing spectacular. by far the best part of the movie is Scarlette Johanason, i think she is crazy gorgeous. worth seeing. Lemony Snicket: fucking eyecandy. cool to look at, but ultimately retarded. all style no substance House of Flying Daggers: alright, there are two kinds of people who like azn movies. the kind that like HERO and they kind that like Ong Bak. this is a HERO type movie, its a love story (albeit a bit convoluted) and its draaaaawn out for all its worth. some good cool looking fights, but lots of nothing in between. if they trimmed this movie down and made it lean it could be awesome, and so could HERO. but as it stands there is just a lot of shit to sit through. go see Ong Bak instead, its a fast jumping knee to the face of awesome. :) *rant off* |
Re: Recent Movies
This is Spinal Tap- Frikken' rules! thats about all I have to say.
The original french connection- pretty good, the ending is a dissapointment. They have the gold...but they don't have the gold! Oh! the poetic justice! Dodge ball- weak. Joe dirt- lame. Indiana Jones and the lost ark- amazing. Indiana Jones and the temple of doom- weak. Indiana Jones and the last crusade- also amazing, but not as much as 'lost ark'. Best Motoring, Drift Bible- entertaning and also usless. Catch me if you can- good. Death race 2000-sweet! thats about all I can think of right now... |
Re: Recent Movies
I saw White Noise the other day...
...stupid. It wasn't nearly as scary as any of the other horror movies out lately, and they weren't many hot girls in it at all. Granted that wasn't the point of it (hot girls), but it fell on it's face trying to scare you. Assault on Precinct 13: Dec. Pretty good shoot-em-up movie, quite a bit of action throughout it. Not a super good plot, but good mindless entertainment. |
