Re: help me with my tune before dyno this spring

hurry my ass just looking for a someone to maybe look over a log with enough knowledge to tell me whats going on. Just figured it would be easy enough as the tune on the car is from db. I've been researching reading called shane etc. Problem is when I start from a fresh tune it's pig rich. When I use shane's tune trims are way off. I guess to me someone may have a helpful hand to lend here. So what would you like to see my post say to turn trolls into stylish helpers lol. btw no attitude intended. Just laid back chillin. Maybe someone knows the car here. was last owned kevin dickey, then unknown probably someone at archers, then john wanamacher. Now me just trying to restore and fix a car that was going to hell fast. If anyone does want to give a hand please post up if not f it.

Re: help me with my tune before dyno this spring

sorry guys I cant get the logs and tune on here. got it on tuners no problem. and yes it's going to db again, just want to confirm i'll be fine to take the car for a three hour drive is all I care about right now. That and finding a 7 bolt ofh asap. The moron before me used a permacool relocater and it sucks.

CornFed2.4 01-27-2013 09:35 PM

Re: help me with my tune before dyno this spring

I got a 7 bolt ofh, actually it looks new even. Looks like you PM'd me on tuners.

dsmreck 01-27-2013 09:42 PM

Re: help me with my tune before dyno this spring

sure did i'll take it and pay a little extra to get it in a day. 55744. pm me ur paypal or call me 218 256 3190. Also the gasket is not very old. like less thand 600 miles or so, should I get a new one?

Alpha D 01-27-2013 09:54 PM

Re: help me with my tune before dyno this spring

I would replace the gasket since you most likely will spill a little bit of oil on the gasket. Why not put a new dry clean gasket on. Try posting a link to the thread on tuners?

dsmreck 01-27-2013 11:17 PM

Re: help me with my tune before dyno this spring

got both. thanks to corn fed and graveyard.

goodhart 01-28-2013 02:16 AM

Re: help me with my tune before dyno this spring

Ok, this may be a dumb question, but what is so bad with an oil filter relocation on a dsm?

dsmreck 01-28-2013 04:01 PM

Re: help me with my tune before dyno this spring

Didnt say dumb its very covenient but the permacool kit on a dsm is dumb imo. the threads for one where not the same count or diameter also the cap you use un the ofh is very restrictive. again imo not worth it not to mention to drain all the oil you mustt remove the cap and posibly the return on the cooler. ill sell mine cheap. prob better to just buy a 90 or evo ofh

turbotalon1g 01-28-2013 06:20 PM

Re: help me with my tune before dyno this spring

I have an extra forward facing OFH for sale.

Don't think so. Don't think he'd figured out how to post it yet

Re: help me with my tune before dyno this spring

Ugh, fine I will help the noob. If you click "Go Advanced", then look down by the "Manage Attachments" button, you will see all available file types for upload. Easiest way would be to zip the log and then try your upload.

I searched the thread and didn't see anything about ECU or log type - is this DSMlink, or maybe an AEM?

dsmreck 01-30-2013 11:38 PM

Re: help me with my tune before dyno this spring

ok tried as a zip file. asshanson if that works I thank you good sir.

It doesn't look like it posted.

Re: help me with my tune before dyno this spring

Check the first post. It also might help to specify what tuning software or logging software you use.

Ah gotcha! My phone downloaded it but won't let me open it. I'll have to try on a computer later

Re: help me with my tune before dyno this spring

The log works for me. You need to adjust your global fuel adjustment to get your fuel trims to zero. If you have 1000cc injectors and are running pump gas you should use -55. you can also go into the fuel settings click the calculate box type in your injector size and it will do the math for you. Then click use. try to get your combined fuel trim as close to 0 as you can. make a nother log and post it.

This will tell you everthing you need to know. http://www.ecmtuning.com/wiki/quickieafsetup

Are the slider correcions from your previous tune? The adjusments to the timeing sliders are a little extream for a new tune.

Re: help me with my tune before dyno this spring

A log at idle isn't going to tell much. Idle is the area of a tune that can vary the most from one car or setup to the next. Your O2 is wanting to add a lot of fuel at idle though, but fixing that could be as simple as a little change to the dead time. As Carl said though, if you have 1000cc injs on pump gas, then the global should a bit closer to -55%. And you would never have that much timing added to pump gas, it's rare to have much timing added to a pump gas tune, unless you aren't running very much boost.

If you are running DSMLink 2.5, I would use the older software. I like it better for the old stuff, except the new software has the reset fuel trims button that comes in handy when you are starting out trying to get things close.

Re: help me with my tune before dyno this spring

wow thanks for all the posts fellas. it's on corn though not pump. Does that help with anything? I will do whatever you guys think I need to do to get me around and to db safely. I have alot to do before I plan my dyno time though. Shane what would be the benefit of using the older software on my 2.5 before I get 3?
