Honeymoon, finally!
Life has been busy, so Katy and I were not able to go on a honeymoon right after our wedding. So we've finally booked our delayed honeymoon. Booked a Caribbean cruise with Norwegian Cruise Lines. Flying down to Miami a day early on Friday January 4 staying at a hotel on the beach. Got the plane tickets and hotel stay for basically free with points/miles!
Then Saturday Jan 5 we board our ship, Norwegian Epic. Apparently it's the 3rd largest cruise ship in the world, pretty awesome! http://shipmateapp.com/appimages/Nor...ships/Epic.png We leave out of Miami and here is our path: http://www.ncl.com/sites/default/fil...%20x%20197.gif St. Maarten we plan to just hop in a cab or something and see the island. For sure want to make a stop at the beach right in front of the runway. If you haven't see it before, here's a pic to give you an idea! http://www.airplane-pictures.net/ima...0/8/241825.jpg St. Thomas, we're taking a tour on a 70' semi-cigarette boat type thing, then doing some snorkling. http://www.ncl.com/sites/default/fil...erMarine_1.jpg In the Bahamas, we haven't booked anything yet but will likely be booking the dolphin exhibit at Blue Lagoon island where we get to go in the water with dolphins! Then back to Miami the following Saturday. We've never been on a cruise before so hopefully it will be a blast. We are really excited. Aboard the ship we booked some shows. We'll see the Blue Man Group, Comedy Show, a Concert, and a Circus Ole type show. Also booked a Hibachi dinner for one night as well. Can't wait, 9 days away! I think if we like it, we will be doing more cruises in the future :) |

Wow, that looks like it will be a blast! Congrats to you both and hope you have an awesome time! Will be nice to get away from the cold for a while haha.

Nice, warm weather in January is always aweseome! Cass and I are doing the same, will have to post something up too. Ours was delayed a bit longer than yours though :D Have fun!!

Assuming you'll be stopping on Paradise Island in the Bahama's, just plan on exploring Atlantis and maybe do the waterpark stuff. Plenty to do there alone.

The stop is in Nassau in the Bahamas. Then from there we can do a shore excursion that takes us wherever. Atlantis is one of the options, but we are leaning towards Blue Lagoon actually.

Awesome! I want to do a cruise sometime! Hope its a good time and I really hope the captain doesn't want to wave at the people on shore.
PS. I would love to visit that beach on the end of the runway and watch a 747 fly over. SEEECKS! |

That looks similar like a Carnival cruise boat. I've been on 2 Carnival cruises. Spectacular ocean view on 9th level. Both to the Bahama's. I'd do it over again and probably will within a year. The cruise provides free food and juice. Water, soda, and alcohol are not free. Alcohol is "normal" pricing. 4 beers for 20 bucks. Water is 4 bucks per bottle. They place soda and water in your room so if you take one, expect it to be on your bill at the last day of the cruise. I usually just bought local beer which is a lot cheaper. One thing you should do is get some island food! Their food is delicious! Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, is a very beautiful place! Your boat will be landing near the Royal Towers Hotel where most of the cruise ships board. I can tell you more but I'm sure you're tired of reading this already.

That Norwegian cruise boat on the inside looks luxurious compared to the Carnival.

One cool thing about Norwegian is that they call it "freestyle" cruising. The Carnival ones we were looking at, it had set meal times that we had to pick from. Norwegian, it's free food all day at any of the restaurants. No set times, just show up at any of the restaurants whenever you want to eat, in whatever clothes you want to wear. The exception is they have a couple fancier places (like the hibachi we booked) that require a reservation, and like $20/person.

Cruise was fucking awesome!! So we flew to Miami for basically free (Thanks Delta miles). Got there and got to our hotel that we stayed 1 night in for free (thanks holiday inn points). Hotel was called the Inter Continental. Fanciest hotel I've ever been in, normally $400/night. Got us a room with an ocean view, and when they found out it was our honeymoon they gave us a free bottle of wine. It was right near downtown, Ferrari's, Porsche's, Aston Martin's, Maserati's galore.
Our boat was phenominal. Biggest boat at every port, you could tell everyone wished they were on ours. Excellent mix of being nice and fancy, but not uptight so still able to have tons of fun and party all night. Crew was so friendly. Tons of different restaurants, venues, 3 waterslides, bunch of pools/hot tubs, casino, bowling alleys, entertainment, basically impossible to ever be bored while on this ship. The ports were awesome. We found the airport beach at St. Maarten, went snorkeling in St. Thomas and had a sting ray swim right up to me and past me about 6" away. Saw a huge baracuda. In Nassau, Bahamas we swam with 2 dolphins. The did the foot push thing at the end and pushed us across their lagoon area. Unforgettable experiences Met a real cool couple from India (live in AZ now) and a group from Mexico City. Made it a lot more fun meeting some new people. Would definately recommend this to anyone considering it, so awesome. The only negative thing is the drink bill at the end, but oh well whatever. Here's a few pics. Congrats B looks like you guys had a ton of fun. Digging the pic at 4am in Da Club and the pic where the plane is landing, damn that's low wasn't that loud surprised it wouldn't blow people away. Once again Congrats to the happy couple.

I'm sure we would have had fun no matter what boat we were on, but after talking to several people on this boat, they said Norwegian is a step up from Carnival. Which is awesome because it's pretty much the same price Lots of people had negative things to say about the Carnival boats. But in the end whatever, it's what you make of it and I'm sure we would have had just as much fun. But after being on this, I think we'll be leaning towards Norwegian from now on. So many little things like when you get back on the boat they have music blaring and the crew outside dancing welcoming you back aboard, with hot towels, water, and hand sanitizer. All the people on the other boats just sit and watch the Norwegian crew dance. |

Hell yeah! Can't recommend this boat enough man! If you start thinking about a different boat or cruise line, I'm telling ya you will love this ship and the service. Only downfall is the bar bill you will have racked up at the end haha.

I'm sure that bar bill is probably similar to any other boat... This cruise just looks better than a lot of others I have seen and heard about.
Did you happen to get to see any of the other rooms? I like the balcony idea and the dates I am looking at say I can upgrade for the same price as an inside room. Might go with a mini suite but I dont really think that is worth it as you'll be out on the boat most of the time anyways. Just in the room to sleep in my eyes... |

There was a package for $50/day, all you can drink (have to pay for all 7 days). If I would have known about it, and understood it better, I would have gotten that package. It's easy to rack up more than that between the 2 of us. Next time will definitely be buying the drink package.
Our balcony room was nice. Kinda small but I think that's always the case. The cheap interior rooms actually seemed a hair bigger, but it's dark. You could wake up at 11am and not know it because it's dark 24/7. So I really liked the balcony because it let some light in, helped us get up out of bed and going in the morning rather than sleep in. And you don't have a good way to dry your clothes, where-as on the balcony you just drape your swimsuit over the chairs on the balcony and it's dry the next day. The Mexican people we met had a suite, but we never got up there to see it so can't comment on it. If I were you, I'd get the balcony for sure. If you can pony up for a suite than that's cool, but really you don't spend a whole lot of time in your room. Balcony is nice because you can see the sum shining in the morning, eat room service breakfast on the balcony and see the ocean whenever you want from the private balcony. Again kinda small but you don't spend a lot of time in there so it was the best bang for the buck for us I thought. |

How expensive were drinks? Is $50/Day for the 2 of you or each? That seems cheap when I think about it. If you get a decent mixed drink, thats gotta be $7-8, 2-3 a day each would be $50. |

Basic drinks like bacardi coke were usually around 5-7 bucks. Margarita's were around 9. Bucket of beer (6 beers) was like 25 (depending on what beer). So I usually had 5 margaritas by sunset. Then Katy usually had a couple. Then we'd go out in the evening and have mixed drinks.
We never really asked about the drink special, and they didn't really advertise it so I still don't know the specifics. I think 50/day is for each person, but whatever you just buy it for one person, then share your drinks. When you get serious about booking, just call them up and they could give you more details on the drink special. |

Looks awesome! I know Jana and I want to go on one soon, though we think it would be similar to our Vegas trip, a ton of fun by ourselves, but could be even better going with another couple or two.
