Project V8killa
So here it goes. I've been buying cars parts left and right and now seem to have found a shell I could be happy with building knowing it can be done right.
People that I want to thank so far since I've got back in. Jim(talonfiero). Thanks for getting me back and teaching me how to swap trans. Brad (celicabrad) knowledge and parts. Aaron(turbotalon1G) giving me a plan of how to build a car and just keep 1. Tom(blacktalontsi) for giving me a great deal on a car that is absolutely rust free and tons of dsm parts to boot. And all of you on here that helped out and been over either buying parts or selling me some. Enough of that on to the good stuff I recently picked up a shell that came from Texas. Originally jungy had it did a few things like wire tuck, brakes, suspension ect. Then Tom bought it and now I own it. Car was purchased as a shell but had a ton of parts included Ok so parts I already have Exterior Koni yellows w/eibach coil/springs 16" Rota slips drilled rotors 2GB talon front bumper 2GB talon rear bumper 95 talon twist sides ABS delete w/SS lines 3" v band down pipe Custom front exit exhaust Carbon fiber hood Interior DSM link v3 Aem wideband Phantom gauges Boost Oil press Water temp Volt Black interior Door skins Dash Center council Rear speaker covers Door handles Tenzo R seats Engine 2.4 6 bolt shortblock CP 87.5 9:1 pistons 22 wrist pins Manley h beams w/22mm wrist (new style) Kiggley main girdle ARP main studs L19 headstuds Cometic MLS 87.5 headgasket Turned down BS 1G head slight port FP beehives GCS 3 cams OBX ramhorn t3 Manifold Motor is at gosh will be gone through machined and assembled Pistons are still 3 weeks out Fuel Aeromotive fpr Walbro 450 pump (new e85 design) Kenne belle boost a pump FIC 2150cc injectors Stock rail with an fittings 680 small battery FP non recirc with k&n filter Things I still need to order SD setup Turbo? Re: Project V8killa
I love my Makita :)
Swap the Cometic for a Permatorque and get a real clutch. If CP hasn't made your pistons yet - seriously, talk to LaCroix ;) Other than that, she'll move. Good luck! |
Re: Project V8killa
I can't run q permatorque cause they only go to 87mm. I already ordered the CPs and they said a few weeks still. Not a biggie since gosh said he's 2 weeks out anyways. Zimmer swears up and down about the southbend do I'll give it a shot if it don't hold I'll go to a comp TD like you did.

Re: Project V8killa
Nice looking car. 6266 would be a nice turbo. I personally wouldn't go any larger at first because that turbo will get you some damn nice numbers. Just make sure the rest of the car is ready for it. I'm not familiar with that clutch, but hopefully it works out? I really liked my 2900/Clutchnet combo. It's what a handful of people on the Link forums were running with good results. Something to consider if yours ends up not holding.
Good luck! |
Re: Project V8killa
Can't wait to see this go together. I'd spend the $$$ and go 6266 over a holset thing, unless you wanted to go 5858, which I think would be awesome and I've seen break 600before with room to go.
I did more than just give you a plan. :p |
Re: Project V8killa
I was thinking a 6262 journal bearing in a bolt on housing and a FP race if funds get low. But as of right now plan is a 6266 t3 top mount exhaust mani. The only thing is there's a $1500 difference in the set up. So I'll have to see where my money's at as it's the last thing I'm buying.
Halan these are the clutches I'm talking about. http://www.tmzperformance.com/Mitsub...%2520Kits.html |

Just another data point for consideration. |

That is kinda my plan, do a bolt-on housing for now and see what it can do. So what needs to be done to the new shell as of now? |
Re: Project V8killa
Well with the advice of Shane and a few other shops they said the cometicwould do the job with L19s. So I'll give it a shot I also plan on o-ringing the head for extra insurance.

Re: Project V8killa
I'm currently pulling the black stuff out of my old shell to put in the new one then just wait for parts. My walbro 450 should be here by the end of the week so I might install that over the weekend, put in all my gauges, and black interior.
Am I going to be fine with the stock rail stock lines? I have an feed lines from the filter but that's it as of now. Also I plan on staying on plugs and wires just gonna get a spark box like a dynatex? Don't know how to spell it lol |
Re: Project V8killa
The stock fuel lines should be fine. The bottle neck will be the banjo bolt coming out of the filter. Getting a new feedline that ditches that banjo bolt should be enough, I'd just run -6. For more reassurance you could upgrade to a higher flowing filter while you are at it too. That's how I ran with my 62mm setup, worked just fine and isn't too rough on the wallet.

Re: Project V8killa
Looks good Nick! Going to be an awesome project!
Let me know if you ever want any help. |
Re: Project V8killa
Thanks those are the small things I wanna get figured out while the motor is being put together.

Thanks |
Re: Project V8killa
I'd leave the lines unless a 2g has extra small lines. Plenty of people have made over 600 on stock lines,

How much power are you looking to push with your fuel pump? The walbro 450 should be better than my DW301 and my DW301 +1000cc's should support around 600AWHP without getting a hardwire around 35psi base fuel pressure or 25psi boost pressure (flow rating at 60psi). Simply put, you'll only need lines if you want to help your fuel pump out. With injectors that size, I'd be more worried about return line sizing and fuel pressure regulator sizing to ensure you can get the baseline fuel pressure to a level of sanity. |
Re: Project V8killa
Yeah I think with this pump the BAP is really not needed but we will se. I know scheides uses one on his 400. Also came with the car so I didn't buy it. The line to the fpr is an not sure size and the return is an but not to the tank.
So you think I should just get a an an line back to the tank and leave the feed alone. Thanks guys for the help already. I wanna really put the money where it's needed. So tgis is definitely helpful. As far as power 600hp on Shanes dyno would be cool |
Re: Project V8killa
Stupid iPhone
|
Re: Project V8killa
I think the stock feed line should be ok for that level. I wouldn't mess with the return until you get the fuel system working, then see how low you can get for base pressure. If you can low 40s with the walbro 450, then no need for a bigger return.
Is the new walbro 450 the same physical size as the walbro 400? Do you have flow rate comparisons between the two? Or is it just 50 more lph than the 400? If so I may be tempted to purchase one myself, it's a direct replacement for my OEM pump (same dimensions). |
Re: Project V8killa
V8Killa huh? We can test that :)
Kidding, looks like this is going to be a sweet build. Best of luck! |

I say run the pump at 45-50 base and see what happens. |
Re: Project V8killa
The 450 from what I read is exactly the same as the 400. The only difference is they made everything sealed for e85 fuel.
Yeah the plate that came with the car said V8KLLR. So I figured the thread topic would fit well. Thanks man you have 2 awesome cars |
Re: Project V8killa
Leaving fuel lines alone till running. CHECK.
Here's the link to the pump I order also got the install kit. http://www.extremepsi.com/store/prod...roductid=24456 |
Re: Project V8killa
Looks like it does flow 5-10% more depending on pressure. Standard Walbro 400:

Re: Project V8killa
Yeah I know it said with a BAP it could support 900 hp or something like that. But that's cool that it flows more than the 400.

Running a line all the way to the tank may help a little, but I think it's not completely neccessary and that money/time/effort could be better applied elsewhere. |
Re: Project V8killa
Since Jungy cut the feed and coupled it back together because he didn't run the Bosch, I'd either buy a new stock hose or run AN. One of the things I would've changed last winter if I kept it. Relying on alligator clamps for fuel hose isn't exactly ideal.
|
Re: Project V8killa
I already an aeromotive FPR, and -6an lines to from filter to rail/rail to fpr. So once i get the car up and see what Im dealing with an lines might be the cheapest thing to do. Im not starting a car with a cut in the fuel line period.
Thanks for the heads up. |
Re: Project V8killa
If you already have an AFPR and upgraded feed, then I wouldn't touch a thing.
|
Re: Project V8killa
Even with the cut/ spliced alligator clamped line in the middle under my car? I at least wanna replace with a new oem line
|
Re: Project V8killa
I guess I'm getting confused. Maybe I just suck at reading, but I didn't hear any mention of something wrong with your fuel line until blackawdtsi said something, and I had no idea what he was talking about since I hadn't heard you mention it.
If your stock line is fubar'd, then yeah replace it with whatever you want. But a normal stock fuel line should be plenty. The I.D. of the stock lines are pretty close to the I.D. of a -6 line. So just go with whatever works. I'm pretty sure Kerry on here (95talonracer) has somme 2G parts cars, you might be able to swipe the line off it and might be the easiest and most cost effective route to go. Good luck with it! |
Re: Project V8killa
Yeah I'll have to look into to fixing it that's for sure. That's really the only thing you missed though. He mentioned the fuel line has been cut and alligator clamped together.
Thanks for your help so far! Always appreiciate it |
Re: Project V8killa
450 lph and GCS3 cams showed uo today!
http://i824.photobucket.com/albums/z...4/d77e23f9.jpg http://i824.photobucket.com/albums/z...4/832b57fa.jpg http://i824.photobucket.com/albums/z...4/4ac5adc5.jpg Still waiting on custom pistons. Once I hear there in I can pull the trigger on a turbo. Also Im ditching the magnus v5 and going with a jmfab race. Half the cost and probably will be more than what I need. So ill be ordering than tomorrow. So this weekend I will be pulling the grey out of the car and installing all the black interior I have. Door cards/dash/handles/center console/rear speaker covers. Will also be wiring all my gauges so I will just have to hook up when motor is in. |
Re: Project V8killa
Should go with a LaCroix special intake mani!
|

Re: Project V8killa
One of maybe. I had the first made, it's on Little Andy Nash's 1g now. Though he really isn't around much more to comment on it.
|
Re: Project V8killa
I'm hoping to dyno test one of these this year. I didn't get a chance with the old car I was trying to do way too much in a short time.
Plus I want to do a good back to back test for him. |
Re: Project V8killa
Yeah it would be cool to see. Maybe John will peak in here and comment on the manifold. Otherwise I'll send him a pm in a few days and see what he thinks.

Re: Project V8killa
So I got some work done and hopefully have the interior 100% by sunday. My pistons and rods hopefully will show up this week so I can run the new parts to Gosh and get my short block done in the next two weeks. Im gonna bring my head to so he can check everything over with the new cams I bought.
More parts I picked up today 2G carbon hood Tenzo R red seats w/brackets I know there not the best brand but they are light and function perfect for what I need. Also these hold some sentimental value as these were one of the first things I bought for my red GSX back in 2005. Really the main reason why I picked them up. Thanks Lor for the parts ill post pics of interior this weekend. PG is closing fast and I have alot to do |
