PG-Stock Appearing, who's going to be in it?

So for stock appearing class, who's in it........to win it?

A little talk at the dyno day suggested at least 4-5 of us.

Myself (assuming that I can get my car done and actually race at PG)
Spaz - shooting for an awesome goal. (Car makes great power)
Goatblower - excited to test his driving skills with a new setup.(Should be up and running soon)
Carltalon - EF1 auto 2G, being a bit too quiet for me. but his car runs!
Tachyon - I'm sure he hasn't changed anything visually to put him out of the class.
Cornfed 2.4 - has too many cars so who knows! :rock2:

That was who we could think of, but I'm sure there are plenty of people out there. I'd say a 120mph trap is needed to be of the finalists here, but this is just speculation at this point.

Re: PG-Stock Appearing, who's going to be in it?

I am closing in on making an appearance in my boat, but we'll see. I will be on stock turbo's so out of the contestants, probably the only one truly on stock turbo's.

Re: PG-Stock Appearing, who's going to be in it?

Yep, I'm aiming high this year, but it all comes down to me learning how to launch on the 6-puck.

Re: PG-Stock Appearing, who's going to be in it?

120mph for stock turbo(s)? That's pretty fast. Are you guys shooting for mid 11's then?

Tachyon 05-05-2012 07:42 PM

Re: PG-Stock Appearing, who's going to be in it?

Remember, there are two SA classes:

SA and SA/U

I'll have to be in U because I have an EWG and larger turbo inlet than stock.

Not sure who on that list will fall into each category.

Re: PG-Stock Appearing, who's going to be in it?

If Tachyon runs 30psi he should do damn well in SA-U!

Re: PG-Stock Appearing, who's going to be in it?

I'm in for stock apearing. Car is running strong on pump gas right now. I' will be making the switch to E85 as soon as I get my shock situation taken care of.

My car was hanging even with my co workers 103 CI Harley Black Line yesterday at 20 psi and a very safe tune.

I think mid 11's and 120mph is very doable for my setup. I will be in SA no fancy manifolds here.

Knock a second off that and try again. ;)

You nailed it. If the new shell is done I'm out. If it's not I'll throw in a turbo tune on corn and see if I can be competitive. But it's all up in the air right now.

Spaz what turbo are you running?

STOCK TURBO SON!

Off a IX, though. Aaron's not kidding that I've got an awesome goal. 10.99 or under! :D

Spaz, I will buy you six beers of your choice if you hit 10.XX. (six pack)
Totally serious, I will be impressed. I won't be able to witness it, but if you hit 10s I'm good next time I see you.

Edit: Not doubting your skill, I know you can drive. See you this summer.

So upgrade!! all you really need is something to hold power to redline and EF1s are the shit, or whatever that company is making them for 3Ss is called.

I'll have you know that one of them WILL be Darkness.

I wouldn't have taken it that way anyway, it's no easy feat!

It's definitely do-able, with a little more tuning and some good driving.

Except the EF1's are TD05 based, TD04's are my stock turbo's, so I'd have to have some TD04's made up.
I am holding 15psi to redline on my 9b's, spiking 21. I'll see how "close" I am once I get a clutch in there. Then potentially it is just good tires away from trying to crack low 12's, high 11's. Should be fast enough to where the pressure will be on the novices NOT to make or mistake.

Re: PG-Stock Appearing, who's going to be in it?

I'd love to run in the SA class as I am a noob, but it sounds like tube manifolds are moving people to SA/U.

10's is plenty possible on a stock 9 turbo, if you have slicks...I don't see you getting that on street tires, but who knows.

Get it fully tuned spaz and then I guess we will all find out. I will match Andrews beer offer if you hit 10's on street tires though :)

I would love to see an Evo run 10's on street tires on a stock turbo! I'll throw in a microbrew as well.

How about a gentlemen's bet across all racers? Everyone has to buy a microbrew of the winner's choice. Keeps it cheap, usually $2-$6 per person and makes it interesting!

So enter SA/U!!! I'm going to be running that class, not because my car is very powerful, but that's just how the rules played out.

Besides, I've been itching to take a crack at your X since we were tearing thought the WI woods on the Fall Cruise to Duluth :)

Oh I'm entering SA/U:) just saying I wish I could be in SA like Scheides last year:) I am nubby. I'll line em up for sure though.

You can only run drag radials in the regular SA class, a full slick is not allowed in that class

I'll get in the bet once I get a little closer to having a running car. Right now my engine's not even together or in the car, much less fab stuff like IC piping, etc. I've got a ways to go, anybody want to buy a Lotus Esprit that needs some TLC?

X2, i spent 9 hrs on teh car sunday and only my interior is 90% together.
Also, what is this bet about? I'm gunning for 10.99 as well!

Man, with everyone gunning for 10.99, I think I'll shoot for 10.89 just to be different.

I'm shooting for 11.90, to beat my personal best when I had way more power.

I am in the same range, but won't be able to firm it up until I get to the dyno to see what it is making. If I can crack a high 11 on stock 9b's, I'll be in good shape for upgraded TD04's next season.

Just run a 12.0 and cut a good light. :)

Sort of wish I could still fit under SA/U, I'd maybe have a chance there.

As is now I'd end up in King Street Unlimited, which would be for the lulz.

I'm not familiar with your vehicle, but I am assuming it has some sort of garret flanged turbo?

Re: PG-Stock Appearing, who's going to be in it?

Quick thought: For those that will break 11.49 E.T, do you have a roll-bar? It would suck to be booted from the track due to going to fast and then not being able to compete (and win a microbrew + cash)

In the past years, they seem to let it slide for the 11.0-11.5 crowd.

Despite the banter, I suspect once eliminations start, ETs will magically rise .6-1.0 second for a lot of us.

Would not be surprised if the winner runs a 11.6-7 and trees the shit out of the opponent.

No roll bar here but I know my car is easily capable of below 11.5.

Re: PG-Stock Appearing, who's going to be in it?

Speaking of getting kicked off, of Primary goal this year is to go fast enough to get the boot. If they don't kick me, that's cool, if they do, icing on the cake. :D

The 10.99 is a secondary goal, and is such because I do have my doubts about getting there on street tires. If I can cut 1.6 60' times again, maybe, but I get the strong feeling that it'll take that extra tenth down to 1.5 to get there.

Very true, holeshot will be king especially if there are truely 1/2 a dozen or more cars within a second of each other.
