I just got back from NY today from picking up a '99 black on black 2g. It made it back without any major hiccups which I think is pretty good for a dsm! It's nothing crazy and I just want it to be a halfway fun/reliable daily. Wanted another evo but didn't want a car payment. I told myself this was close enough:blind:

Current mods:
FP Red
HKS 272's
Crower Springs/retainers
Head was put back on with new mitsu headbolts/mls headgasket
Coil on Plug - probably swap this out to stock coil pack/wires as changing plugs will be 10 times easier.
FMIC with back door piping
HKS Super Sequential bov
FP Intake
Ricer Filter
Evo MAF
Larger TB - I'm guessing just a 1g but haven't looked into it to verify
External wastegate with external dump
Apexi down pipe
Thermal cat back
Aluminum radiator with dual slim fans
FIC 1000cc injectors currently tuned on pump gas
Poopra 300lph pump
Hallman Pro MBC
SPI Industry Boost Gauge - Want to replace with an AEM boost gauge and get an AEM wideband as well
Mystery rebuilt tranny but it shifts like butter
ACT 2600 with a street disc and act flywheel
Prothane mount on the tranny mount. The guy gave me the rest.
Tokico/eibach setup
Evo8 wheels with snow tires
HID setup
Ricer front lip


Apparently it made 409 on a dyno dynamics dyno @ 26psi out in NY.



Plans:
Take it to Shane to have him possibly tune it on e85 or just have him look at the pump gas tune.
Get it re-tinted as the current tint is scratched and looks like garbage.
Smoke the turn signals in the front bumper.
I'd like to paint the lower half of the dash black once its nice out. For some reason it bugs me that mitsubishi made it half black/gray
Dye the carpet black
I'd like to re-cover the headlinger in a black suede or something
Get an aem boost/wideband gauge. Don't know if I want another a-pillar setup or do like I had on my old 2g and mount them on the steering column.
Repaint the front bumper due to rock chips and take off the front lip thing. I'd also like to paint the center tail light section at the same time.
Pick up a non-cruise control box. He has it rigged up so it still has the box on the firewall but no cruise. Might as well cean up the bay some more if I don't get cruise.
New rims/tires in the summer once I find something I like
Misc clean up of the engine bay/other items.
Anything other little things my cheaaaaaaaap self can find deals on
And just try and enjoy it without selling it! :D

I'd say it's better looking than an EVO, I love the black with dark EVO wheels and that front lip. Plus there's a lot of room in that RED, I think mine did 470 at Shane's on race gas, I can't remember for sure.

The dyno it was on out east might be the one that reads closer to a dynojet, 400+ on pump gas on that setup sounds a little crazy IMHO.

Yea I thought the number seemed kind of crazy too. I'm hoping to get it on the dyno sometime soon. I don't really want to push it too hard so if it can make similar power to my old evo, I'd be in love. The evo was fun to daily around 360/370 uncorrected @ db and that isn't much power at all but was pretty reliable and still fun to drive around and let it rip once in a while.

I'll try and snag an interior picture after work. Needs a good vaccum but its pretty clean. That reminds me, one other thing I would like to do is dye the carpet black as well and maybe re-do the headliner in black too.

Thanks! It was pretty damn hard to find a black-on-black but I'm glad I did.

Yea he said the paint was starting the bubble just a tiny bit in one spot so he had a body shop hit it with a wire wheel and put some rust preventative stuff on it. Kind of bugged me but the rest of the car was clean and no rust in the common other spots. Maybe I'll try and paint that too. List of want-to-do's just keeps getting longer and longer :rollinglaugh:











Crappy note: Just went to the dmv and because the guyoriginally wrote a 2 then turned it into a 3for the month on the date of sale the dmv won't transfer the title to me until I get him to sign and explain why. So if there is anybody with good penmanship, I know a way you could earn a free beer...

I had the SAME issue with my Evo. It was a pain in the ass since the guy needed his plates back ASAP to give back to the state (NC). So basically we had to overnight paperwork for a couple days to get it all straitened out.

Regardless, I am jealous of your find. Keep us posted on updates!

Yea hit me up when you want to go riding! If this thing is halfway reliable as I'm hoping it is I'll always have a bike of some sort. If this car turns out to be an unreliable hunk of junk I'll sell the bike and get a crappy beater. Either way results in this car staying around for a while though.

If I have enough energy I want to wash/wax the car tonight, oil change, boost leak test it, and look it over. Probably just wash and boost leak check it and look it over.

On the way home the blower motor seemed to be making some noise and after a while it started making a horrible noise. Once I got back to the cities Nick met up with me and gave me a blower motor from his shell. He is a life saver! Anyways got to investigate it tonight and found this:

New motor is in and works great now. Also changed the oil tonight but didn't get enough time to do a boost leak test. Hopefully tomorrow I can do it

We'll see. I kind of want to crew for some chump crew guys to see whats that like.

Not any time soon. I somehow lost all my nitrous jets :(

I called the the guy and he said he'd fill out the correction form and over night it to me. I'm hoping he really fills out the form and gets it to me asap, I feel like this car asks to be pulled over and with ny plates it screams pull me over. :D

Boost leak tester and a piece of vacuum tubing. Something everybody should have on hand when owning a dsm.
