Winter plans/mods 2011
What's everyone up to car wise and i guess otherwise since this isn't much of a car/tech forum anymore.
I moved and we are cleaning the garage up to get my car inside and then I'll be installing a few parts that I've had laying around for a long time. (ES bushing kit, '06) Apart from that I'll just be cleaning up the car and fixing small leaks and things I don't like. Apart from that score a fulltime job and maybe move again depending on where I get employed. |
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
Car wise, I'll probably need new tires later this winter and at that time I might do a Whiteline Roll Center Kit. Other than that just gas and maintenance!
|
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
Well, I moved mine out of it's nice spot in the garage to outdoor storage, hopefully I'll be more motivated next spring. Just don't really care about it right now.
|
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
going to get the spyder done and ready to go by spring.
start working on the evo some more. get the rear end back in it. also have to have the 2.4 block machined, get a head done and get a set of cams for it |
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
Probably do another oil change in 5k miles, since I just did one. That should put me safely at spring time.

Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
Swapping in a full 3" exhaust with quiet/loud switchable mufflers, and maybe a wideband.
Oh and maybe this if I get motivated: http://www.turbotechnologyinc.com/c6/c6kit.jpg |
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
I'll need to pull the engine to drill out the 2 center bearing bracket bolts on the drive shaft I sheered off. Then I should probably rebuild my prop shaft as it's making quite a racket since installing solid bushings. I also need to replace the seals on my power steering rack... they finally gave up the ghost after 21 years.
For fun stuff, I've got fully poly bushings for the rear end, including the moustache brace. I also am planning on lighter 17x9 wheels with 255 wide rubber on all 4 corners. |
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
I'm at a point where it's just finishing touches. Once everything current works correctly, GrimmSpeed 3-port BCS and Omni 4-bar MAP sensor, speed density tune with a high and low boost maps so I can just leave it alone, and then just driving and enjoying it.
Hopefully by spring get the blown MR Bilsteins I picked up rebuilt and revalved for Swift Spec-Rs, and probably just solid sway bar links in the rear to give it a little more stiffness and less roll/play. T-case rebuild in there somewhere too before Proving Grounds. |
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
I'm hoping to do a 3" TBE and get everything ready for an e85 switch and 3port for a tune by spring.
|
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
I plan on going 35r and having my center welded this winter. proably upgrade injectors since those are maxed out. Would like to change my cams out for some 280s. If its together in the spring I can get my cage weleded in
|
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
Start the swap to automatic soon. Attempt to save up enough scratch for a nice roll cage. Re-upholster the front seats so they look nice again! And make a choice on wheels. If I could get all of that done before proving grounds (yeah right!) I would be extremely happy.

Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
^u better make a pass this year!
|
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
Stroker kit, bigger cams, valvetrain, IM and TB.
Oh, and I'm trying to get it done by Tx2k12. |
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
^Take me with you!!
|
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
Megasquirt and bigger injectors to run e85 on the mr2. DSM gets more expensive parts.
|
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
I am not sure on my mods yet on my new car! but I know I want to do the aux port mod, and update the nav and unlock the nav, fresh paint on the grill, paint the subaru badge, save for stage 2 parts/tune, and just enjoy it!

Re: Winter plans/mods 2011

Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
Keep driving my stock Evo 9.
|
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
shit, i need to get back into the cars, but timing just isn't right to dump money into a car.. :( ...
|
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
I'd like to sell mine...
If not I'll have to decide if I should get a shift box, put in my 1150's for corn and maybe try shooting nitrous at it. |
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
Store my VR-4 for winter, get some small bugs worked out, and as soon as spring hits the corner put it on the rollers.

I don't really have a ton of plans for my car, but that's usually when I do the most to it. I have a few CELs to take care of (I think I have the e85 gunk problem), so maybe a few parts to fix that, and probably a few more parts to fix whatever breaks going through winter. New plugs, drivetrain fluids, and acc belt in the spring. I have some random plans to go faster though: -tephra v2/NLTS -mini battery -install 2-piece MR rotors -stronger fuel system: walbro400 w/ BAP, maybe a FPR if need be -build lightweight fmic bracket (stock one is huge and steel) -aluminum driveshaft crazier ideas: -swap in a BB EF4, if/when they make one...(goal: run more boost reliably) -swap out rear diff AYC system for an evo8 rear-end. This is theoretically worth almost 120 pounds of weight loss...still investigating this. -I keep seeing these epic tubular T3 turbo setups....but my wallet does not agree. Maybe lotto? |
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
For anyone interested; the plan is to strip my '95 TSi AWD Auto. back down. This time the engine will be coming out as well. With that I will be painting the engine bay, deleting a few things along with tucking the harness. I just want to make everything really clean!
But until all of this begins, I am just going to be collecting parts and working on my POS 1g. |
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
Getting carried away,
Building the motor More fuel Little big turbo New down pipe and waste gate setup Rebuild t-case Weld center diff Maybe a bigger intercooler Different wide band Stall converter Get rid of the AGX's and Tiens Blah! Re Upholster the head liner Tires |

In spring just before snow melts I need to fix my serp belt and possibly swap out back to stock acc pulley's. Then I need to roll one rear fender and put my eibach springs in. I also need to put my rear diff bushing kit in, my driveshaft carrier bushing kit in, gate selector bushing in and underhood shifter bushing kit in. I am going to buy an oil pressure gauge to and throw that in somewhere this winter as well. Then I need to do a fluid swap. I am almost at 30k and I think some of my fluids might be stock, rear diff comes to mind. In the spring I will retune for 30psi area and hope to crack 600whp at MAP. Sooooo many things I want to do but I am tapped for money. /Pray for big tax return and big bonus I guess. |

Tackling some electrical gremlins now! GRR!! My headlights and turn signals won't work again. FML

Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
Debating if we are going to pull the trigger on trying to sell this place/buy a bigger one.
If that doesn't happen, stealth will get a bunch of pipes such as exhaust, intercooler, if budget allows standalone +E85 + all the boost the 9b's can push out. If we decide to pull the trigger on a new to us house, then the stealth gets nothing. |
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
Put in my other race axle and maybe get an ignition setup so I can run the boost I want.

Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
I'll play.
- 12-plate rear diff - Hawk HPS brake pads all around - Blox motor mount - Brake Master Cylinder Brace - RS Trunk Bar - Catch can - Some interior touchups - More aggressive alignment (technically will come in Spring) - Maybe a mini battery kit if I can source one cheap enough |
Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
I'm ripping the DTHSTAR (the ratty Starion with the roof rack) apart for good, and hopefully get my 88 out here from Ohio, and start the mods on it (including the motor from the DTHSTAR)

Re: Winter plans/mods 2011
^^^ I'm going with the Weir Performance MaxGrip LSD Kit which has 12 plates instead of the stock 8 plates. Here: http://www.weirperformance.com/maxgriplsdkits.html
They've also indicated they're working on a machined pressure ring to convert to a 1.5 way LSD instead of the stock 1 way. So I'm going to get in touch with them to see about the timing of that (and hope it'll be ready by Spring), then do it all at once. |
