1945/2000 is mine!
I finally bought a Gaylant yesterday. Found this one out in Shawano, WI. near Green Bay. Comes with all I need to put together minus engine, trans, ecu, t-case, and fuel tank and filler neck. Everything I can transfer over will be from my Talon. Anyway, here's a couple pics so far:

Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Nice.

Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Thanks!
Took a few more pics after working on it tonight. All the interior is back together except the center console items: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...0611233641.jpg 93 headlights ftw: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...0611233722.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...0611233907.jpg |

Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Nice to see another VR-4 owner. Welcome aboard the VR-4 crew. Make sure to check out GalantVR4.org.

Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Congrats! Seems like a nice car, is it replacing your DSM?
|
Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Nice score 123abc. I have one as well that's in JSB mode. Go by the same handle on galantvr4.org too. Those 93 headlights look sessy! Gotta get me a purr. Did the car come with the key fob? If you don't have one, "steve" on the org should have some 91 replica key fobs in stock ready to ship. All you gotta do is get your numbers engraved. I got 2 of them because my car did not come with one, plus I have a spare. Good luck with getting the car running and maybe I'll see you on the road someday.

I took a few more pics: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...0811092946.jpg Body is pretty damn straight. There's a few paint scratches down to metal but will be fairly simple to repair: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...0811092804.jpg Worst of the rust is under where the fenders sit. It's the same on both sides, will be stripping it down and painting it tonight: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...0811092828.jpg Engine bay shot again: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...0811092748.jpg I plan to put the DSM ps res. in instead of the 4ws stuff, ABS was already taken out so the seller gave me a non-abs prop valve but I'll need to make 4 new lines. Will a DSM engine harness work with the stock Galant gauges without too much work? I want to make it easy and swap my Talon's harness that I've gone through and re- routed. |
Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Finished up the quick rust prevention on the major spots. Now I can put the fenders, side skirts, and doglegs on.

Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Great price for a gvr4!
|
Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Nice ride!
I think the gas tank is different between the GVR4 & 1G |
Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Nice score. I was eyeing that one but i already have my hands full.
Yeah gvr4 gas tanks are diffrent from dsm. Plus it should be easy spotting one on gvr4 forum. Good luck!f |
Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Thanks for the compliments! Car is going together pretty smooth. Got the fenders, side skirts and the piece between the bumper and the headlights on as well:

I have poly bushings for it too. |
Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Do work son!
|
Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
I was able to drop the old subframe and install a DSM subframe and rack with new poly bushings. I cleaned it up and sprayed it with truck bed coating:

Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Yay for wire harness work.
http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...1611080141.jpg Decided to go through and repair the original harness instead of swapping my DSM harness over. There's a few plugs I'll need to replace, along with some very stiff wires, but it's all here. I also plan to mount the battery low where the vapor canister use to sit, rather than mounting it in the rear. Being a four door with a usable trunk, seems silly to stuff a battery back there. |
Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Update, relocated the washer bottle to where it should be(where the junk abs motor sat), going to try and fit a dsm washer bottle instead so it'll be easier to fill. Also just about finished up the wire harness, removed a few un-needed things, ran the stock mafs wires and plug to the glove box then ran a gm maf plug where it should be (I put my translator box in the glove box). Also ran a power wire to where the battery will sit. Still need to put some 2g injector clips in the harness, as well as replace the cas plug and the o2 sensor plug, and put together the starter harness.
http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...2311085643.jpg I've also changed my mind about the ps res. I originally was going to use the DSM bottle, but decided to plug the un-used ports on the vr4 res. so I can keep the low fluid light. http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...2311085706.jpg EDIT: Woot! The fuel tank and sending unit just arrived. http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...2311094148.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...2311094136.jpg |

with a free wally! not bad

Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Finishing up the paint on a few pieces for the front end, such as control arms, dr side north/south piece, and a couple brackets. Also fabbed up a prototype bumper support for the front since I didn't get the crash beam with the car. Gotta trim some excess material, do some final welding to make it strong, and throw paint on it. Here's a pic of the car with the bumper on:
http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...0111194817.jpg I also bought a remanned 3g brake master cylinder and so far its almost bolt on. Will need to make the two lines from the master to the prop valve. |
Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Couple more pics:

Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Was able to find a 92 center section so I installed the 92 tails and center:

Cars outside waiting for the weekend to come so I can start transfering parts.

Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
you are wasting no time. Looking good!

Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Wish I could have one of those, my honda is getting too boring and FWD FTL!
|
Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
FWD really is FTL. Use to think it was all-right, but then I met some friends at tech school and I went AWD and saw what I've been missing.

Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Gave the car an alignment at work today. I'm thinking one of my control arms is bent because one side has more camber than the other in the front end. I have some much better control arms that I had sand blasted then I painted them and put new moog ball joints in them. I just need to buy a poly bushing kit for them.
Pic of engine bay as is: http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...1911092205.jpg I need to pull the power steering pump out of the way and tighten the bracket that bolts to the block tonight yet. Somehow, it's loose and being my daily driver I can't have something happening. |
Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Looks good!

Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Looks good. I say keep the valve cover the way it is. I kept the valve cover thats been on my last two cars and plan on putting it on my 2G when I do cams and head studs this spring.

I miss my GVR4 looking at this one! Haha. Looks clean and great man! :D

Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
Thanks guys! When did you sell your VR4? I must have missed that....
|
Re: 1945/2000 is mine!
If anyone is considering relocating their washer bottle on a GVR4, It's pretty easy. I was able to use the stock bottle, with an L bracket from the washer fluid bottle off my DSM. When I had the wire harness out for fixing, I pulled the two wires for the washer fluid motor through the grommit and then ran it behind the dash, through the dr. side fender, and out the grommit behind the dr. side motor mount. Just have to run new hose (which I had to anyway, old stuff was junk).
http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...2111092435.jpg Looks way better in this location than where it is on the firewall from the factory. |
