do you speed on the highways? that could be part of it. if you follow all the rules, and your tail lights aren't tinted or painted or altezzas, you probably won't be harassed. That being said, those cops have to pay for the gas in those cars somehow. How better to pay than to use your money!

Even with no front plate, Troopers never give my 1g a second glance. But I do usually drive the same speed as traffic.

I'll ask some of the troopers that come into my shop if they have it out for you... Some sort of personal vendetta.

I see a ton of them, but i usually drive the speed limit. Not worth $100+ to get to where im going 5-10 seconds faster. I love it when people blaze past me, then sure enough i see them at the same light i was heading towards, Good job wasting the gas it took to accelerate past me.

Re: State Trooper Troubles Anyone??

Cops in general around here do not like me. I got pulled over on the highway for my window tint... Yeah, not even joking. It was the ONLY day I decided to use my air-conditoning.

Then 2 weeks later, in town, the SAME Highway Patrol get's me. He tried to get me for "exhabition driving". He gave me a warning because he had NO proof I did anything. He ALSO gave me another warning for the window tint; yet I was driving with my windows DOWN because of the tint. I even told him to his face, the only reason my windows were down was because of the tint.

Then there are the usual "accelerating too fastly" situations. Had it happen to me recently by a known cop around here, that likes to just pull people over for any reason at all. He thought I was trying to driving like an idiot yet I saw his car parked, with it's lights on, while he was outside of his car with a reflective vest on. Duhhh! Idiot.

In other words yes, I have. lol

Re: State Trooper Troubles Anyone??

Sounds like you need to take your tint off. Seems to be your problem, and maybe that sometimes you do drive like an idiot? Idk, just the way it seems. In all 6 of my dsm's, I've been pulled over twice. Once in my laser, cause I didn't flip my lights all the way on, and just had running lights on (wasn't even dark yet, was more of a check to see that I wasn't drunk). The other time was a joke pretty much, as the cop thought I was hauling ass, when in actuality, I was cruising, and my bov went off right by him. He u-turned, pulled me over, and nothing came of it.

In all honesty if cops are looking for you, you have done something to garner their attention.

I put about 800 miles on the galant this year. I drove by at least a dozen cops with no issues. Granted I am not driving like an asshat, I have a front plate, and I have no window tint, but like most I drive with traffic and try to blend in.

I say if you are breaking the law while driving, do not be surprised when you get pulled over.

Re: State Trooper Troubles Anyone??

The only times i've been pulled over down here (living in burnsville for 5 years i think) is when I had my 95 eclipse, I didnt know it was illegal to pass in the HOV lane, trooper pulled me over, gave me a ticket. The same night i get pulled over by a burnsville pd for to dark of tint.

Now days, I stay out of Applevalley, And parts of burnsville. I usually drive mostly back roads to work in hastings, always see troopers set up down by rosemount. I get followed alot in the 05 eclipse. With my 91 talon, since its in the body work phase, they probably just laugh at the bondo work and look for better looking cars to mess with.

So no troubles as of lately, My ex on the other hand... shes been pulled over a few times this year, one trooper down in applevalley, for not wearing a seat belt.

I never get pulled over in my maxima or talon. Talon Is really loud and the maxima is kinda loud, and had no front plate. But if you are doing something illegal dont be surprised.

Re: State Trooper Troubles Anyone??

In the past 4 days I've been followed by 5 cops, 4 of them involved someone getting pulled over. And that someone was not me, driving our kind of cars can catch a cop's attention. But unless you are doing something dumb or have something illegal they normally don't pull you over. I had 2 people try to race me from a light with a cop sitting right on my butt and the cops has flipped the cherries on and nailed them for it. One was a guy going the opposite direction on Hwy 10 flying by other traffic that the cop turned around for. And the last was a guy blowing though a stop sign hardly even slowing down. The one who didn't pull me over followed me from Becker(sitting on the side of the road) all the way into downtown ER exiting off of main street onto Proctor going to work.

Drive "Legal" and don't do anything wrong and you'll be good. This is coming from the guy who was pulled over 22 times in a 33 day period once.:cuffs2:

I am assuming this was a reply to me; Obviously you have NEVER been here, or around here. There are certain cops that will pull you over for the fact your car has a "can" on it.

That and being able to take a corner at 25MPH, and they think that is accessive. My honest answer would have to be; I didn't even notice.

no, i dont drive stupid, i dont speed because im always paranoid about being pulled over, and yeah its really not worth it to speed just to get somewhere. but i do have window tint... and apparently i cant have 8000k hids? and my windshield eyebrow is illegal. i dont know where they get these laws from tho. im not harming anyone or putting anyone in danger. i can understand the window tint. but the others? cmon...

DSMINMN 12-16-2011 10:10 PM

Re: State Trooper Troubles Anyone??

The window tint is a law that only applies to cars; to be more specific, it only applies to people with "tooners". How do I know? I will explain. I deliver parts for a local NAPA, and ALL DAY I see >>TRUCKS<< with tint. Now these trucks do not just have tint, they have DARK tint. I mean, so dark you cannot see into the truck with light showing from the other side of them!

No lie, we have trucks that drive around here that are "piped", have ugly aftermarket lights, HIDs, decals of all sorts in the rear windows, DARKER than DARK window tint, painted rims; the list goes on and on. But are they ever pulled over? Fuck no.

That is another thing.
One thing I guess I can be thankful for it that I have not been pulled over for my exhaust. It is quite enough to the point that it does not attract any unwanted attention. lol, my friend on the other hand, once again, who owns a truck, has a glass pack or the equivalent on his F150. If you really get on the truck, it will cackle or backfire or whatever you want to call it. He's done it right by cops, nothing yet..

So the State troopers are out to get you? That sucks, they used to be out to get me but, then I grew up and started obeying the laws and guess what? I haven't been pulled over in 5 years. I know it is a crazy idea, but it works. If you feel you are getting treated unfairly, then complain to the troopers supervisors in your area. Do not hate on cops for enforcing traffic laws, that is what they are there for. Most of the officers I know are car guys, they really could give 2 shits about window tint, but talk to them with a chip on your shoulder they are likely to give you a hard time as well. Just give them a break, as they have heard it all. Be respectful in you conversation to law enforcement, it's good karma, and they will let you go with a warning or at least at minimum a break on what ever ass-hattery you were doing. End this thread.

LOL! I love where you get off!!!
First of all, you assumption I am doing ANYTHING wrong is just ridiculous. Did you not read what I posted? How about the other person here? We are NOT doing anything illegal or against the law. Please realize and understand this.
Therefor I am going to COMPLETELY disregard your comments about following the laws (considering we are). The cops around this area are far from car guys too, so take that for what its worth.
I am always respectful when/if I get/am pulled over. That is the reason I do not understand why I get a warning for doing nothing wrong. I mean seriously; I do nothing wrong, they pull me over, I am respectful, so why do I deserve to be harassed by them? (The answer is, I nor does anyone else deserve to be.)
I will not entertain your comment on "karma" with a reply, for the simple fact there is no such thing.

Please read and understand everything before assuming.

You're car is illegal if it has darker than 50% tint, no cat, excessively loud exhaust, etc...

I used to get pulled over all the time when I was young for the same kind of stupid shit but never complained about it, if things are illegal that's the chance you take.

I've been able to talk my way out of some tickets and I'm always very respectable but sometimes you can't just talk you way out of things. Stop breaking the law or have illegal things installed and then if you get pulled over then you can maybe complain, but you still probably did something wrong.

Troopers have a hard-on for window tint. Gotten pulled over twice in the last year just for the tint. $130 fine each time.

That's a two-way street man ;) Just focus 110% on not attracting attention to yourself and being extremely polite and respectful to law enforcement. Whenever I get pulled over, 90% of the time it is because I am doing something stupid. The other 50% of the time its because I have illegal tint. Read between the lines there and you'll see that it's generally my fault.

That being said, I'd love to see 85mph speed limits on freeways and more fair/realistic tint and exhaust laws but ultimately it's not gonna happen anytime soon. Make due with what you have, be respectful or earn enough money to pay for the tickets/fines you're going to incur along the way.

For the person that started this thread, I'd pull you over everytime I seen your car! Just like you can't have things hang from your mirror. (obstruction of view) You can't have a sticker right in front of you, on the winshield. Banner you'd be able to get away with, but the stickers just draw cops in for a closer look. Im sure your friend who has the toyota truck with the banner, doesn't have a 4x4 sticker in the center of his winsheild either. Your not giving the whole story. Also put it back to stock, all one color and take off the stickers and see how that goes Im sure things will change.

Well my tint wasn't dark at all; I could see out of it fine, so it was not bothering anybody. My exhaust is not loud by any means. There is no cat on it, but who here REALLY has a cat on their car?

My problem is, nothing that is really worthy of pulling me over, has been getting me pulled over. How are the cops going to know I do not have a cat? lol Their aren't. So that doesn't even work into being a factor.

On the contrary; to be pulled over for something I did not do to my car is retarded. The tint was on the car when I got it. I told the cop that. He didn't seem to understand. I do not get what is so hard about understanding I was not the one who installed the tint.

Then we get back to the fact it was not even dark.

Yeah um....I'm sorry OP, but CornFed has a very good point. I have a "Mitsubishi" decale above my rear view mirror, but it isn't solid. I also did not place it there (original owner).

The other decals I have are out of the way and not noticable from inside the car.

OP: You may want to rid your car of the decals and get some lighter tint.

You really need to lose this sentiment, it's a dsm not a ferrari. Don't get me wrong, I freaking love dsms, I've owned 4 of them now...but the point is it's a fast econobox, not a porsche. That's what makes them fun, people underestimate them.

No, not in the least. I have had a kid almost side swipe me twice, and tbone me in the same night. So what did I do? Followed his ass and called him in. Got him a exhibition driving ticket. I mean really, almost running into my newly painted car? I do not think so.

What does this same person do some night my friend and I are out driving? He called us in because he sees it fit to "get even". I'm pretty sure it is jealousy.. Considering he is driving his baller Mazda 626. Meanwhile my friend and I are in an SRT4 and an Eclipse.

Please, let us not start talking about things that have not yet been explained. (The reason I have been called in, which just now has been explained). Thank you.

I can see out of my tint that's 20% too. Does that make it legal? I think not.

I actually still have a cat on my car. The point was if there is anything not legal on your car, you can techincally get a ticket for it. Thats the price we pay and the risk we run. If you can't afford a ticket, get out of the game now.

Clearly something was worthy of pulling you over if you got pulled over. Either you drove like an asshat or had something about your car that attracted the police.

Cry me a river, you know if tint is on the border line of being too dark or not. When I got my evo I knew the tint was too dark and I got pulled over for it along with no front plate. I knew both were ilegal but I liked it and sometimes you just have to pay the ticket when you get one or take off the tint and put on a front plate.

Go away, build your shitty dsm, and stop bitching:moon:
